No, not yet. I don't know what the deal with him is. I called yesterday and left my name and number. IF he was out of town or had some time off you'd think they would say that before transfering me to his voice mail.

I'm not sure what to do now. Just keep waiting and calling? Maybe if someone else called and don't say your connected with the ladies trip, and see if he calls back.

I really want to stay there, but this is getting old real quick.

Thanks Katie. That would be great. It's weird, he was so friendly on the phone and seemed willing to work with us on the arrival/departure dates, and also the total number of rooms we have.
I just can't get him back on the dang phone!!


Ugh, I am sick too, so I'm not really in the mood to deal with this right now. One of my twins (age 7) was sick with a stomach bug last Friday. Thankfully it didn't last long, about 24 hours, but she was pretty sick. Since it's now Wednesday and no one else had shown signs of it, I thought it was an isolated incident and we were in the clear.

Wouldn't you know it, my stomach started hurting earlier and I've been sick several times since. I just hope it goes away as quickly for me as it did for her. And I hope no one else gets it. We are supposed to leave for Disney in about 9 days.

Geez, what is it with all the stomach bugs going around lately?? I've been reading about alot of sick people on these boards!

Well, we have 9 days so hopefully our trip can still go as planned. Although the way I feel right now, I don't want to go anywhere except to bed.

Anyways, sorry for that. LOL I just hate being sick.

I'll let you know if Nick calls. If not, then see what you can do. Maybe he doesn't like my voice.

Geez I hope you guys get better. Being sick sucks. DS15 is getting over strep - he missed 4 more days of school.

My SIL stayed at CCI in Nov and said that they have lousy customer service. That was her only compliant but still... I am looking forward to staying there but if they won't return phone calls we might be up a creek.

Speaking of creeks, how is everyone around Oregon and Washington faring in the storms? Hope nobody is floating away!

Thanks. I feel better today. Although last night was really bad, so my stomach is just still kind of funky and I feel weak.

Okay, I went to the Candy Cane Inn website and there is a link to "Contact Us" so I clicked on it and filled out the info for a group information request. I don't know what more to do at this point. Maybe someone will contact me based on that request.

Well, I heard from Nick.

Okay, so I FINALLY heard from Nick. He just called a minute ago, saying he'd been in and out of the office.

Anyways, I told him we were ready to book the rooms, but that at this point we only had 14. He said that was fine BUT then said he'd give us a cut off date to make the 15 room requirement.

Well, that was NOT was he said before. He said he could give us until around February to make the 15 rooms.

I asked him what if we didn't make the 15 rooms? He said that was fine and that if for example we had 12, he'd just drop off the other 3. No problem.

BUT then I said, "And we'll still get the group rate?" and he said no. That we'd just get whatever their best going rate at the time was.

What?? Again that is NOT what he said before. But now he's saying that's the best he could do.

I thought he was being too accomodating before. And I had asked him exactly that question too.

So he's going to email me the paperwork to get it started. The thing is, now we have to figure out if we still want to go this route.

If someone cancels, or we don't get that extra room booked, then who knows what rate we'll end up with. I'm not sure I want to take that chance.
What do you all think?

There's only a few options now.

1. Go ahead with the group reservation and hope we make the 15 rooms. IF not, we pay whatever the rate is at the time.

2. Book CCI seperately, using another discount like AAA.

3. Try to find another hotel.

I'm really not sure at this point what the best option is. I'm almost tempted to go with number 2 or 3.

I already have my room booked there, so I am good with #2! I dont want to risk ending up with a higher rate down the road if we dont have everyone the way we need to. I also dont want to be the one screwing everyone if I end up not being able to go for some reason. I now the rate i got isnt that bad, so I am good with that.

Did he say we can still get the group rate for people checking in/out on different days. I was only going to stay Friday & Saturday night, so will I still be counted towards the total room number .

I have a room booked too. I made the reservation with a AAA discount back when we first started talking about CCI.

It does suck. I made sure one of the things I asked him before was specifically what would happen if we dropped below the 15 rooms. That was on my list of questions, because I KNOW from the WDW ladies trip, that things change and some who said they were going, end up not, and some who thought they couldn't, end up coming.

I was really shocked when he said he'd still give us the group rate. Should have known better. Maybe he is new to group reservations and wasn't sure what he was talking about.

I did ask him again about the different arrival/departure dates and he said that was ok. But at this point, I'm nervous about trusting anything.

I have no clue what the going rate will be at the time if we lose some rooms. But I'm not sure I'm willing to take that chance. kwim?

I do know that the AAA rate wasn't too bad, and it's something that would be guaranteed no matter what because each person makes their own reservation and it doesn't hinge on anyone else.

I don't have my papers in front of me, but I THINK the AAA rate was $104 for two nights (Thurs, Sun) and $113 for the other two (Fri, Sat).

Given the info we have now, , I just think that seems safer.

Unless someone else has another thought, maybe another hotel idea, maybe we should just do that..........

I think that price is ok too. I mean, I was fine with that from the start, and honestly, it's worth it to me to pay a little more and not worry about any cancellations effecting our rate, kwim?

This way, it's booked and done with and each person is only responsible for their own reservation and doesn't have to worry about what they do effecting the group.

Oh, that's good. I didn't even think of a military discount.

I think it's best to just book seperately and not try to fool with the group rate at this point. The price isn't that much more and if people can get roomies, even better!!

Well I'm glad to hear that we finally heard from Nick. Its a shame though that he isn't exactly living up to his word.
Thats okay though! I don't mind booking seperately. It might even be easier with everyone arriving on different dates and etc. I'm staying optimistic!
