We did an impropmtu B-day (DH) visit to HoJo's in Anaheim last night! Got to meet Lorealle (HoJoAnaheim). She is the cutest, sweetest lady I've ever seen. I gave her a hug, and I was afraid I'd break her!
She, and the entire staff, honestly, were so helpful! I needed directions to the Amtrak station from where I was on the I-5, as I was sitting in traffic and rain. (For those who might need to be picked up, I totally know the route, no, so no troubles!) They had a b-day card waiting for DH, signed by a bunch of the staff.
We got to stay in one of the rooms that we'll have when we go (or at least the same type!) We were in 613, tower 1. It had a great view. Could see the pool and hot tub, the monorail, Space Mountain and Matterhorn very easily. The room was very spacious. (Though, the bathroom was kinda tiny.) It had micro, dorm type fridge, closet with iron and ironing board, nice tv, balcony. It was very spacious. And, best of all, the beds were soooo comfy!
They have a gift shop that was really pretty nice. The pools are nice and clean and heated, the chairs have cushions on them. Good size hot tub (which is what I anticipate taking advantage of while there.) There's even a cute little kids water play area (not good for the Ladies trip, but generally, wonderful if you're traveling with smaller children.)
Oh, the walk is nothing! I had always been a bit skeptical, as it looks like it's so far away. I was worried about the walk coming back from DL at night or for a break. It was honestly no further away than any of the other places I've stayed. We walked to IHOP (in the pouring rain and cold wind, nonetheless!) last night (which is right across the walking entrance of DL) and it took us no time. We've stayed at Desert Inn, which is slightly closer, and Anaheim Plaza, which looks closer, but I think is actually farther away. And, HoJo's is nicer and cleaner.
The only concerns I have is that there are no suites. For our family, that makes it a challenge trying to get dressed with two genders and various ages. Though there's certainly enough space in the room for 5, it's hard when traveling with that many people to not have a separate room that you get with a suite. Oh, and there is internet access, but you have to pay for it. No wifi.
Overall, I'm sold. It's a great place, very comfy, very clean, very nice staff, and we have resies there for both my b-day in Feb. and DD's b-day weekend of 3/7-3/9! And, of course, OUR trip!
