*BRAKES COME TO A SCREECHING HALT*

I'm such a DOPE! I forgot to put my own address in the Christmas card exchange list. So expect another PM from me :lmao:
Thanks for taking care of the list Cristabel:thumbsup2

Hi gals....
I hope this Tuesday finds you all well. I am in search of a large hole to stick my head in today....ever have one of those days? Sheesh...I'm super overwhelmed today for some reason.....and I'm such a worrier, I haven't slept good in a while either. Things have snowballed over the last few weeks and I want it all to stop! My nephews FIL died suddenly a few days before we lost Dawn, then I find out last night my dear friends mother died suddenly in her sleep. All 3 were probable H1N1 related secondary illnesses. Another dear friend from high schools, dad, has been fighting cancer and they just called the family in to make final plans and then we found out a few weeks ago that DH's dad has liver cancer....the first doctor told him there is no treatment and he may have a year and the 2nd specialist told him he may have more options and a slightly better outlook, so we are in wait & see mode until they finish more tests and come up with a plan. UGH!! It's just been awful lately and I hate to see family & friends going thru hard times :(
:hug::hug:

Of course, come Christmas, if nothing else falls apart in our house to cause a major mess, I'll be baking pies like there's nobody's business: pumkin, apple, (Beth, divert your eyes for a minute), raisin cream, (okay, you can look now), pecan, huckleberry, and maybe even a keylime. :thumbsup2
Raisin Cream pie sounds good! I'm going to go see if I can find a recipe for it.

Jane: When I got my bouncing Santa Mickey from Beth, I thought I was so clever making "Thanks Beth" in green and red only to find you had beat me to it.

I hope everyone else is having a great day! I'm going to Parent Teacher interviews tonight, the kids are excited to show off their work.

Capri you are making me drool talking about all your baking. I have never had huckleberry either but it sounds wonderful. My dad likes gooseberry and he and I are one of the few that like gooseberry pie and it is hard to find but we had a friend who used to make it for us. Yours sounds wonderful and makes my mouth water just to hear about it!

And courtney you are right that sounded funny but you know what those suckers are one of those weird things that are weird but good if you know what I mean. It sounds odd but I bet they are really yummy! I say give it a whirl and I bet you will be surprised how good they are! ;)

And Beth you cracked me up with your quote about the raisin pie! I laughed so hard I almost cried. I needed that. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Trying to punish someone! LOL! Love it!

Anyway I am back from the uro and just like I thought that was pointless and prob a waste of gas and my 20 copay LOL. I went all the way down there and you gotta love when he asks you if you are still taking medicine that he took me off MONTHS ago! I was like I haven't taken that since June! I told you that in August! Anyway so he told me to keep taking the stuff he put me on LAST time and I don't have another apt till JULY! Which is good cuz that means NO apts with ANYONE till January! YAY! I am So sick and tired of doc and dentist apts!

Anyway then I took the girls to lunch and now we are home. We are about to watch our tivo of DWTS from last night so we can watch the finale tonight. Otherwise that's bout it for us. I am glad that the mood has lightened up a little bit and we can laugh at ourselves a little.

Jen I LOVED your DLP pics! It is gorgeous there just like I knew it would be! I am glad you had a good time and I am SOOO jealous! I want to go there someday SO bad!

Jill I am SO sorry that so many people in your life are having such bad times. Many prayers to everyone in your life and to you as well! ((hugs))

Hi Ladies!!

This is a drive by hi!

Cheryl, EMPTY your PM box. Gracias!

Cheryl, I'm glad you are able to go to Texas to celebrate Dawn's life with her family!
Callie, so sorry to hear about your grandma. I've been saying a prayer for you guys.
Capri...so sorry about your flooding. I'm glad you are getting things fixed now and hope things work out with the finances. Its times like this that I wish I had extra money that I could just send friends in need, to help make their lives easier.
How is Miss Sally doing? I've been so worried about her lately and haven't heard anybody mention.
Hugs to you all. I would like to donate to whatever everybody decides on in Dawn's memory.
Jill

Oh Jill, I'm so sorry you going through such a rough time too. I wish I could just wave a magic wand and make everything better for you and your loved ones. What you're going through just sounds so hard and emotionally draining. I was just telling Donna today, and now I'm going to tell you and all my Diva babes that are hurting and going through bad times, we're going to get through all this, and we're going to get through it together. :grouphug:

We're here for you if you need anything.

Oh man, Jill, I am so sorry. I guess it's true what they say, when it rains it pours. But enough already! I hope you are able to find some way to take a break from all that has been weighing so heavily on your mind. Stressing so much isn't good for anyone. And I'm sorry for the recent losses and I hope those who are ill, are able to get the care they need to recover.
In the meantime, take care of yourself too.

I am determined to come!
Now that's what I want to hear girl!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

There is NOTHING better than a hot shower to wash off that camping trip feeling! Enjoy!!

Usually I do ALL the pie baking for the holidays, but with everything going on this week, I'm just not going to have time to bake all the pies. So I'm only doing a pumkin pie and a huckleberry pie this year. My mom-in-law is buying an apple pie and maybe a pecan pie. I feel really bad about it because my family is always telling me how much they are looking forward to my pies again this year, but our flooding mess made a bunch of extra work for me, so I wasn't able to spend as much time on school work, and now I need to catch up on my school work for the week, so I'm just not going to have the time for a whole day of baking pies this year.

:thumbsup2

What the....? :scared1:

Nope, it's not. ;) Capri's coming. Period.

Tomorrow. ;)

:scared1: Raisin cream??? Is there someone in your family you are trying to punish?? :confused3

:p

Seriously!

Hi Ladies,

Big hugs to Capri and prayers for Callie's grandma and happy thoughts to everyone.

Here are some pictures of DLP, if anyone is in mood to see them.

TINA! please clean out your inbox please :lovestruc

I hate that I can only send PMs to five people at one time. It takes forever!

Done.

Okay! Phew! I sent everyone a PM with my address but Cheryl & Tina, you girls need to empty out your inbox.

I said it's done!!!!

I thought you were going to say the Ritz crackers shaped like snowflakes (which I bought the other day) but Ritz crackers dipped in FUDGE? Only at Walmart.

What the....? :scared1:

That was my reaction to "raisin cream" too--my Mom used to make raisin pie. Ick. With cream? double ick. Second only to mincemeat for the ick factor.

:rotfl: I'm so glad it's not just me.

Sorry Capri. But we still love ya, even if you make weird pies. ;) :p
After all, we still love Theresa, and she eats poutine!! :rolleyes1

(Oh boy, she's gonna get me for that!! :scared1: )

Wow, Capri, you are the bakemaster! What do you use for the huckleberry filling, meaning does it come in a can or jar or frozen? Yum.

I don't think I've ever had a huckleberry. I wonder if they grow around here?

I know the answer to that Callie. They sure do! The easiest way to find them is to look for crumbly old tree roots. Cedars I think. The grow like crazy out of those. They have small leaves and little red berries. They are ripe right in the middle of summer. Think heat, think huckle berry. My son loves to eat them off the bushes, right when they are not quite ripe and really sour. Drives my husband crazy, because he is not familiar with them and thinks my son is going to poison himself.

and I changed my signature . . .

oh and Theresa, can I steal your Christmas tree in your siggie?

That looks much better:thumbsup2

Geesh Jill. We haven't met, but here is a big hug for you. Sounds like you need it, and that's just what we Washington Gals do.

Hey, where have you been? Weird pies are the trend. :goodvibes

I'm tempted to make all of you non-cream pie lovers my torta di uvetta crema. It is super delicious. :cool2:

Happy Tuesday everyone!!
Been really busy & riding the emotional roller coaster as I'm sure most of you have been....... I'm exhausted!

So did I mention to add to my busy life that we are hosting Thanksgiving at my house? We will have 25-26 people all together & we're doing all the cooking...which was fine when Mike was going to be off tomorrow...but with the new job he's working 12-9........ :scared1: That means I have to do stuff in the kitchen!!!!!! :headache: Now understand....I'm a good cook/baker but I just have no interest in doing it......lol Sooooooo :rolleyes1 gonna be a couple of very long days.

I hope everyone has the bestest thanksgiving ever!!! Love & hugs to all!!

Additional Huckleberry info for Callie:

We have picked them at Deception Pass State Park (really close to where you are at), right in Mukilteo, on the walking path to my sons elementary school, which used to be wooded but is not now, up highway 2 near Money Creek where we have property. All over the olympic peninsula where I grew up. Basically any place that is or was wooded, and again, looking for fallen trees and big old rotting tree stumps is your best bet. Can't wait to hear how many you find next year.

Do I dare ask just what that is???

Eek! Good luck. Been there, done that. I cooked for 20-25 people three years in a row when we lived in MI.
It was fun, but I'm so over that now. :rotfl: You can do it, and it will be great. Have a good one!!! :)
