Usually I do ALL the pie baking for the holidays, but with everything going on this week, I'm just not going to have time to bake all the pies. So I'm only doing a pumkin pie and a huckleberry pie this year. My mom-in-law is buying an apple pie and maybe a pecan pie. I feel really bad about it because my family is always telling me how much they are looking forward to my pies again this year, but our flooding mess made a bunch of extra work for me, so I wasn't able to spend as much time on school work, and now I need to catch up on my school work for the week, so I'm just not going to have the time for a whole day of baking pies this year.

Of course, come Christmas, if nothing else falls apart in our house to cause a major mess, I'll be baking pies like there's nobody's business: pumkin, apple, (Beth, divert your eyes for a minute), raisin cream, (okay, you can look now), pecan, huckleberry, and maybe even a keylime. :thumbsup2

Wow, Capri, you are the bakemaster! What do you use for the huckleberry filling, meaning does it come in a can or jar or frozen? Yum.

Beth, I take it you already have your precious can of pumpkin?

Courtney and Vicki, can't believe how good you guys are at delaying gratification. :lmao: I tried the maple bacon lollipop a looong time ago and thought it was great. But I also found my tmj didn't like it so it was a quick taste treat.

Cristabel, can you resend the card list or better yet, send it to my email please? I didn't get it and I think it's because my mailbox gets so full.

Just a quick hello to all .

Capri- So sorry to hear about all your problems. That really sucks . I'm glad your spirits are a little better today :flower3:. I love the idea of the urban look (rugs on concrete) :thumbsup2.

I'll be going to Disneyland tonight and then staying the night so I can get there at opening so the baby can ride Peter Pan & Dumbo without a horrible line. It will just be me & my 2 daughters. DS has football practice.

And please tell me why he has football practice on Thanksgiving :confused3. I know they have a game on Friday, but do they ever get a day off :scared:.

Love and Light to all!

We get fresh huckleberries every summer from people we know who go up into the mountains to pick them (since we live in huckleberry growing territory) and then we freeze them to use throughout the year until the next summer. I mainly use them for pies and making huckleberry pancakes, although I've occasionally used them to make huckleberry daiquiris, huckleberry martinis, and huckleberry shakes/smoothies. They are SO good, and good for you too. :thumbsup2

I don't think I've ever had a huckleberry. I wonder if they grow around here?

Good Morning all!

I have not forgotten about doing the picture of Dawn. I'm just waiting to get some pictures of her so that I can do it! I

The photopass we are getting from the October trip has some good group pics of her and with her and her Mom. If you can wait until after Thanksgiving I have some from the Birthday party too--just won't have time between now and leaving tomorrow.

And you call yourself a lawyer! :rotfl2:

Hey--I didn't say I didn't work--I just worked in my nightie!

and I changed my signature . . .

oh and Theresa, can I steal your Christmas tree in your siggie?

MIL's place is really small, so we'll be squeezed and squished in, nice and cozy like.:crowded: I love days of such close togetherness with my MIL. :rolleyes1
I think you should do dinner at your MIL's every day!! :rolleyes1 ;)

Thanks for the info on the pie. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow. I have time then too.

And while what happened with your water heater sucks, it sounds like some good will come from it! New carpets, new paint, your downstairs will be stylin. :thumbsup2

Good Morning all!

I have not forgotten about doing the picture of Dawn.
Thanks Heather. Take your time. We want it to be special. For now, I have the picture that was in her sig, of the tea cup and flowers, and a quote of hers about Disney. :)

I DID write an extra special card to your sweetie pie asking real nice about you coming although is this going to make it even worse now? I hope not!
Nope, it's not. ;) Capri's coming. Period.

Mmm pumpkin pie.... I want to go to Beth's today!:rolleyes1
Tomorrow. ;)

:scared1: Raisin cream??? Is there someone in your family you are trying to punish?? :confused3

:p

Beth, I take it you already have your precious can of pumpkin?
I have 5 cans I think. I stocked up. But then again, I need them all because I'll be baking pumpkin pie, bread and bars.
What about you? Did you ever find some?

How fun!! Enjoy your time there. :wizard:

Sure thing, help yourself to decorate!!
It's going to be so festive here on the thread soon! :santa: If only decorating the house was as easy as decorating our sigs. ;)

Courtney I just counted and I think there is 26 so if you can find a box with 30 you should be good! :)

Thank you, Kelly!!! :goodvibes

:rotfl: Woooo! I don't think I can bite lollipops with my braces, but I'll just suck on it and taste the bacon goodness! (that sounded weird)

*BRAKES COME TO A SCREECHING HALT*

I'm such a DOPE! I forgot to put my own address in the Christmas card exchange list. So expect another PM from me :lmao:

TINA! please clean out your inbox please :lovestruc

I hate that I can only send PMs to five people at one time. It takes forever!

No. That sounded like a tag!!! :lmao: If only the tag fairy was around to see it. :rotfl:

Here are some pictures of DLP, if anyone is in mood to see them.

Hi Jen. Thank you for posting that link. I for one, can't wait to check them out. I'm glad you were finally able to make it over to DLP. I know that was definitely on your wish list. :goodvibes

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Okay! Phew! I sent everyone a PM with my address but Cheryl & Tina, you girls need to empty out your inbox.

Hi gals....
I hope this Tuesday finds you all well. I am in search of a large hole to stick my head in today....ever have one of those days? Sheesh...I'm super overwhelmed today for some reason.....and I'm such a worrier, I haven't slept good in a while either. Things have snowballed over the last few weeks and I want it all to stop! My nephews FIL died suddenly a few days before we lost Dawn, then I find out last night my dear friends mother died suddenly in her sleep. All 3 were probable H1N1 related secondary illnesses. Another dear friend from high schools, dad, has been fighting cancer and they just called the family in to make final plans and then we found out a few weeks ago that DH's dad has liver cancer....the first doctor told him there is no treatment and he may have a year and the 2nd specialist told him he may have more options and a slightly better outlook, so we are in wait & see mode until they finish more tests and come up with a plan. UGH!! It's just been awful lately and I hate to see family & friends going thru hard times :(
Cheryl, I'm glad you are able to go to Texas to celebrate Dawn's life with her family!
Callie, so sorry to hear about your grandma. I've been saying a prayer for you guys.
Capri...so sorry about your flooding. I'm glad you are getting things fixed now and hope things work out with the finances. Its times like this that I wish I had extra money that I could just send friends in need, to help make their lives easier.
How is Miss Sally doing? I've been so worried about her lately and haven't heard anybody mention.
Hugs to you all. I would like to donate to whatever everybody decides on in Dawn's memory.
Jill

I don't think I've ever had a huckleberry. I wonder if they grow around here?

Hmmmmm, probably not right where you are, but you might be able to find them in the higher elevations/mountainous areas around you, or north of you up in Canada too. As far as I know, they only grow in the Northwest, basically in Washington, Idaho, Western Montana, and Canada. They are usually ripe sometime in August, so it's possible that you could find them maybe at a farmer's market around that time, but they are kind of expensive if you buy them.

I think you should do dinner at your MIL's every day!! :rolleyes1 ;)

Uhh, dinner at my MIL's everyday?.....:scared1:

Yes, our flooded basement sucks all around, but yep, I will get a redecorated family room now. Well, not NOW, but soon, or at least eventually. :goodvibes

Nope, it's not. ;) Capri's coming. Period.

:scared1: Raisin cream??? Is there someone in your family you are trying to punish?? :confused3

I am determined to come!

In my family, if I wanted to punish them, it wouldn't be with raisins, it would be with nuts. They like nuts, but not cooked in anything (except pecan pie, which they love). So unless it's pecan pie, no nuts in baked goods for this family. :goodvibes

Hi Ladies,

Big hugs to Capri and prayers for Callie's grandma and happy thoughts to everyone.

Here are some pictures of DLP, if anyone is in mood to see them.

Take care ladies.:grouphug:
Jen

Thanks for the hug Jen.

Loved your pictures! Wow, the castle looks gorgeous.....and Main Street was so pretty all lit up at night! So, what did you think of DLP? Did it have the Disney magic for you and your family? How does it compare to the original? I need details babe....details.
