It's snowing here today. Yep, snow. Luke said it snows when God shaves. Okaaaay, never heard that one, but I thought it was both creative and humorous. :goodvibes

Justin and I were discussing our vacation plans for this fall and thought it would be a good idea to take my mom with us. As you all know, she's been taking care of my dad for a long time and hasn't had a vacation in, well, forever.

So now we're going back on forth on where to stay. I thought of the Worldmark Anaheim and asked Tracey about it, because I could swear she stayed there, but she hasn't. (I guess my mind was playing tricks on me - haha.) She did say it gets good reviews though, so maybe that's an option for us after all. We would have to drive to the parks from there, but I guess that could work?

Or I could book two rooms at the HOJO. We wouldn't all be together, but I suppose that's not a big deal as long as our rooms are fairly close to each other.

I also looked into renting points for a 2 bedroom at the Grand, but YOWZA! Point requirements at the Grand are a lot more than the DVC resorts at WDW. A lesson in supply and demand. ;) :teacher:

Is there any other place I should consider?

Good morning!

Here's a picture of all the styles in the new print:

I LOVE that new design! Not sure which style I like though.

I haven't liked a lot of their designs, but I did fall in love with the Sketch one and ended up picking up this as a birthday present on our 2010 trip:

But really, really love that new one. Too bad shipping to Canada is an arm and a leg.

Hi everyone,

I haven't had a chance to read back at all but I wanted to let you all know that I went and visited Vicki (bsblgrl) on sunday. She is doing so much better than I thought she would be doing! It was great to see her. Her speach is quite good, she has good movement of one arm and was sitting up in her wheelchair with no problem. She told me she is still having some vision problems and is still working on her other arm and her legs. She can walk some and is getting better all the time. She is hoping to be coming on the trip this coming year. Just wanted you all to know!

Take care,
SarahMay
That is so great to hear Sarah! :)

What a gleeful grin! Thanks for sharing:)

Hey Gals! Guess what I did today??? I applied for a job at the Disney Store. I guess I just want to be a CM:thumbsup2

They already called me for an interview. It will be a group interview on Wednesday. Anyone have any tips for me?? I haven't been on a real job interview for a lot of years, and never on a group interview.
Good Luck! I started out at the Disney Store in 1995 - 2001 and loved it! So much fun and great memories.
Group interviews are very common, don't worry about it :)

Good morning, ladies!! :cool1: It's almost Friday! Yay!! Then my kids will be on Spring Break. Not that we really have any plans anymore. But, oh well. Maybe we can find some fun things to do around the area. Locals freebies and such. Try to make the best of it since Ruben had already taken some time off for our vacation that fell through. Gotta roll with the punches I guess! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a good day!

That's awesome, Tracey!
I was hired at the Disney Store in the Glendale Galleria (in CA) many, many moons ago. This was so long ago, it was back when they used to wear those gray skirts, and blue sweaters. Anyone remember those uniforms?? :rotfl: Probably early 90's.... '92 or '93.

We did a group interview. I was with 3 others. Same as a regular interview, just we each took turns answering the questions. It was weird but I guess they are still doing it that way.
I worked there for exactly two days and quit. I hated it. :rolleyes1 The management were like drill sergeants. Smiling on the floor, and barking at everyone behind the scenes. Just miserable people. I realized shopping there was more fun than working there. :rotfl:

Of course now I almost never set foot in a Disney store. My kids have all outgrown Disney. I went a few weeks ago when we were at the mall and basically walked in and walked out realizing there was nothing there for anyone in my family. :sad2:

Anyway, good luck to you!!! :wizard: And if you get hired, which I'm sure you will, hopefully your supervisors are a lot nicer. ;)

Aw Jen, that is awful. I'm sorry. I wonder why they wouldn't listen to your explanation? If it's not your stuff making the mess, why would they want to blame you for it unfairly? That's not right.

Beth I didn't know you worked there! LOL Even if it was short term...you can still say you've been a CM

Jen, sorry work is stressing you out. Nobody whould have to go thru that! :(

I am so happy to hear how well she is doing! She is such an inspiration! I sure hope she comes on the next trip...she better come on the next trip. Would love to see her. :thumbsup2

That's awesome Tracy! Good luck at the interview....they'll be lucky to have such a wonderful CM! :cheer2:

Awww Jen, I'm sorry to hear this. Hope things get better for you.

As for me, I'm hanging in there. I still get emotional from time to time, but I'm not bolting awake in the middle of the night from nightmares and anxiety anymore, which happened every night during my dad's final days. But sometimes, even though he was sick for quite a while, I still can't believe he's gone. Kinda weird, huh? :confused3

Last night a girlfriend took me out for a little while and treated me to a couple huckleberry mojitos - YUM! The only two places I've been the past several days is my house and my mom's house, so it was nice to get out and away from everything that's been going on and have some fun girlfriend time/conversation. Oh, she treated me to a beer too. What's an evening without a beer? ;)

continued hugs & prayers to you Capri! You've been on my mind alot lately. How's your family doing?

Ok, thats as far as I could catch up..made it to page 97...lol

But really, really love that new one. Too bad shipping to Canada is an arm and a leg.

I have that same purse with almost the same placement.

It was my first Disney Dooney. My mom bought it for me.

I have three now and at least 2 other's that I want. :rotfl:

Congrats Trudi and Sarah~ Little Violet is so beautiful!!! You will be broke very soon buying her lots of goodies!

Drama cannot follow me around forever, right?! I just learned last night that my DH kissed another girl a few months back. He swears that was all it was and he never saw or spoke with her again. I want to forgive him, but is that stupid of me?! We are going to start counseling, but I am so sick with worry about us. He says he doesn't deserve me, but I cannot stand the thought of losing him. Ugh....has anyone else been through this and can offer some advice?

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. :( I have been through it, but in the end my relationships didn't last. Altho, in my cases (yes, it happened twice) it was more than "just a kiss". It's not stupid of you to want to forgive him, it speaks a lot of your character actually. Many people these days would just walk away, but when you love someone you want to work it out. Good luck with the counselor and know we are here for you!:grouphug:

MomtoXPrincess99 and VintageDisneyRules, congratulations!!

I can't believe that I turn 17 next month. One more year until I'm old enough to be a diva :woohoo:

My DD15 turns 16 this year..... :) I like that purse but I loved the Tink one from the marathon, if I'd been able to get my hands on that I would have been in heaven. LOL

I LOVE that new design! Not sure which style I like though.

hmmmm can one of the Diva's buy it and ship it to you? Just a thought......

I'm glad it's Wednesday, wish it was Friday. lol I have a busy night ahead of me, after working (I came in 30 min. early today too) I am making the cupcakes for my friend, then I'm going to the bar for the Uncle Kracker concert and her birthday, I hope that doesn't last super late, I'd like to get to bed at a decent hour tonight (hoping for a midnight end time but I may have to leave earlier than that), somewhere in there I have to make dinner for the family, get balloons for the birthday girl, get ready myself and get ready for work tomorrow (ie lay out my clothes). Busy busy busy......but fun fun fun :) Sometimes I like being a social butterfly......:thumbsup2 LOL

It's a GIRL!

First my sisters fiancé said it was a boy but quickly said April Fools. I couldnt be there at the hospital but my mom had me on speaker phone when he announced it and then they texted me the video.

They named her Violet Star Beck. 7lbs 13ozs

My grandma's middle name is Violet and her mom's first name was Violet. My sister's middle name is Star too.

Please don't say anything to my mom on Facebook just yet since my sister and Bill are still telling people the news.

I can't wait to meet my niece tomorrow!
Congrats to you both...well, to you all. Love the name, its adorable!

Congrats Trudi and Sarah~ Little Violet is so beautiful!!! You will be broke very soon buying her lots of goodies!

So sorry :( I hope you guys can get thru this together and make your relationship even stronger because of it.

Mel - glad you had fun on your quick trip with friends.
Bernice - glad things are working out well with your rent & such :)
Happy travels & trip planning to those (who I thought I multipquoted too..lol)
Katie...I'm still in awe over reading you are hosting that many teens at one time...LOL Yikes! I don't think I could pull that one off.

Life's been crazy around here. Parker is doing a little better each day, which is good. Just taking one day at a time.
Easter has really snuck up on me. I usually decorate and we have a big easter egg decorating party. This year its not going to happen. All my Easter boxes are still in the rafters :( We are going to take my mom to brunch on Balboa Island, to her favorite restaurant, then going to my bother's in the afternoon, then I work that night. Kids are off next week, but we don't have any big plans for the week. My niece wants to have them over for a sleepover...which I'm hoping works out :)
I am knee deep in Auction stuff for the Epilepsy Walk in a few weeks. Its always so fun, but alot of work too. I love seeing what donations we get and creating fun themes & baskets :) Thank you to those who have donated to his team, and of course to all of your who have sent your thoughts & prayers to him/us! You are all so wonderful & caring!

I have three now and at least 2 other's that I want. :rotfl:

There have been a couple with this design that I have wanted. Mainly the wristlet in the different colours and the new card holder, which I love, but I think you have to order another Dooney in order to get it.

hmmmm can one of the Diva's buy it and ship it to you? Just a thought......

If someone would be nice enough to do that when the time comes, that would be so awesome! Just to order the smallest cheapest thing on the Disney Store right now is a minimum of $24.50 for shipping, so I can't imagine what one of those would cost through them. Regular shipping I can't see it being more than $10 or $15.

Thanks everyone! We had a meeting with the owner to establish expectations on both sides and possibly will start in May (if the current couple's apartment is rented out right away) or June (when their lease ends).

Gotta admit shopping for girl clothes is a bit more fun than shopping for boy clothes.
 Yep! My family is plagued with boys, not a single grand daughter for my mom to spoil. And -so far- a boy on hubby's side. Booooo, I love being auntie to all my nephews and I am a "boy mom" but one day would love to drool over cute little dresses and girlie princess things.. sigh...

Drama cannot follow me around forever, right?! I just learned last night that my DH kissed another girl a few months back. We are going to start counseling...
 I have no advice.. I'm glad that he was open with you and willing to seek counseling.

Another sunny day, went to the flower show at Macy's.
The downtown location is a BIG old style department store (was Dayton's years ago). It has 5 floors of merchandise, offices, travel agency, 8th floor auditorium where they have two seasonal events every year and restaurants on the top floor.

I get a kick out fo the fact that the displays are all modern, typical Macy's mall stores.. but it's a step back in time when you use the ladies room.

It is tucked far back in a corner and a bit hard to find as it's down a short hallway. It has stone steps leading into the first lounge area (huge no-no for today's handicap accessible standards). It's all in art deco black and green tiles. Green stone sinks with pretty stone murals above each, lots of mirrors. There is lettering in tile above the room with the wooden door stalls "FREE TOILETS". They have another, not quite as far back in time style, somewhat grubby restroom on ground level near the parking lot. It still had the coin holders on each stall door. Can you imagine? You had to pay to go potty?? Mommy!! I have to go!! Uhhh, I don't have any quarters.. noooo! :rotfl:

The flower show was SUPER crowded, not as fun to look around with people in the way and lots of old ladies with tons of perfume competing with the florals.. GAG.. Should have gone last week, oh well.
Went to Target, used a bunch of coupons on Easter candy and toys. Free board games (Candyland/Chutes and Ladders) for a donation next year. (The toy coupons are no longer available to print off Target, but the candy ones are still up and make for a good deal!).

Hubby found a small Lego set 50% off, it has a Toy Story green army man and a jeep.. too cute! The cat chased the jeep a few times across the kitchen floor until she got all crazy and started chasing her tail in circles. :cutie:

Decent day, not too hot and just enough sunshine to keep us sane. :upsidedow

Katie, Having the kids at your house is wonderful, cuz you know where they are. But, I can see how it is having it's toll on you. The kids must like you and feel comfortable to want to stay with you. So maybe you can set some rules. Tell them that you like having them over, but you and Laila need your sleep. Give them some boundaries. 18 kids is just too much!!!Way too hard to keep track of! !! That's just plain nuts! Not to mention the food you are going through! :scared1::scared1::scared1: Anywhos, giving advise is easy. Being able to actually follow through and doing it is hard. And you have probably given this plenty of thought already. Big hugs to you. You are doing a great job so far as a single mom. Keep your chin up.

Yes 18 is way too much and I told my kids never again unless it's for a birthday party or something. For the last 2 months each weekend the number just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I guess I should be flattered everyone wants to hang out at our place...

It was sort of cute because they set up a dance party in the garage since I told them no loud noise in the house because I didn't want them waking up Laila. I have a big garage so they set up chairs and a table for the food and it kept the noise down in the house. I just get cranky from lack of sleep and I've been pretty cranky the last few days because I haven't caught up on sleep yet. But I do get a break from excess teens this weekend since it's Easter...yippee!

I know drama all to well. My life is a real life soap opera and if you ever have a spare 10 hours, we can sit and chat about it :rolleyes1.

Like Kerri, I went though this, but it was more than kissing and it didn't end well, but I know how hurt you are feeling and I know it's hard to get imagines out of your mind, but you seem like a nice couple so hopefully you guys can work it out with counseling.

My ex was just a #*@&#@$%^! and it was never going to work! If you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you .

I think it would be great if you're mom goes with you. She deserves a break :flower3:. I've never stayed overnight at Worldmark, but my cousin and his family stayed there when they were down last year and I thought the rooms were nice. They had a 2-bedroom and it was spacious. I don't think it was big as the GCV but still plenty of room. Plus it's right by a 7-11 so it's easy for a beer run ;).

Life's been crazy around here. Parker is doing a little better each day, which is good. Just taking one day at a time.

:hug::hug::hug: hugs to you Jill. I'm glad Parker is feeling a little better and I hate that your family has to deal with Epilepsy :guilty:. It just sucks! But you are a great mother. I hope I can make it to the walk this year.

continued hugs & prayers to you Capri! You've been on my mind alot lately. How's your family doing?

We're up and down. Honestly it's been, well, actually pretty hard. Everyone says that's normal, so hopefully they're not just saying that. :goodvibes

And the strangest things can make me cry. I'm going to use the excuse of peri-menopause though. A girl can blame almost anything on that. ;) :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Big hugs to you Jill :hug::hug:

I'm always thinking about you and Parker. I hope he's feeling better, poor guy. You're such a terrific mom! :cheer2:

It is normal. And yes, we can blame a LOT on peri-menopause too. LOL

Thanks for all of your support ladies :) After a night away (him, not me) we had a long talk this morning and things are looking better. He brought me flowers and I can tell he truly wants to work things out.

Jill~ I hope Easter turns out well - to you as you go through all of this.

I just signed up for my first Mud Run! I'm excited and nervous! It's a 5K (3.1 miles) with obstacles and MUD!

http://www.mudfactor.com/

It's on April 21st at Glen Helen Raceway.

Woo hoo!! I love obstacle course races....I wish there were more. You should come up to Nor Cal for the Tough Mudder. Are you doing the Color Run?

It's a GIRL!

They named her Violet Star Beck. 7lbs 13ozs

Congrats Sarah and Trudi!!! Violet is adorable. Oh what fun you're going to have.

Happy Monday everyone! And yes I'm serious. I'm beginning to hate the weekends because our house has become teenager central during the weekends. I don't know when my house became the house to hang out at, but it's getting on my nerves and I haven't been able to sleep because I have to check on them constantly and they stay up until 3 or 4 in the morning and then I have to get up at my regular time, because Laila doesn't care that I was up all night with teens....I'm really sick of teenagers and I seriously can't wait until Adara and Devin are adults .

Katie, I'm worn out for reading this. 18 teens in one house...you are brave and a great mom. I'm not sure I could do it but it shows how much the kids like being around you and trust you - even when they know you're keeping the eagle eye on them.

So, last Friday Scott and I grabbed the kids, change (for the meters), cash (for the tolls) and drove to San Fran.

Scott and I had a great time, kids....not so much. Solution...?

Get grandma to come up and take care of the kids while hubby and I go off BY OURSELVES!!!!!!!

So ladies, I need your help. I'm pretty sure we will go in May, for 4 days. One of those afternoons we want to serve at a soup kitchen, but the rest of the time...:confused3

What to do...? Where to stay..? Where to eat...?

Oh and we are taking the BART in and using public transportation to get around. Those parking fee's are :scared1:

Thoughts?

Charlene, try travelzoo on the internet. I always find good hotel deals with them. I looked and they are running a special for Villa Florence right now. I think that's the one Mel mentioned. Also, sign up for the bay area emails groupon and living social. You should be able to get some good deals. I have a friend I travel with that always finds us good places to eat from the "Diners, Dives and Drive-Ins" show.

Jen, I'm so sorry that this is an issue that has come up in your life. I can only image what you are going through. Please know that if you ever need an ear to listen, I'm available. Or if you need to get out of dodge, I've got a guest bed. Although I've never dealt with this exact issue I've got a lot of experience with lost trust issues. The one piece of advice I can give is definately do the counseling. Do it as a couple and do it by yourself, for you. You'll be in my prayers.

Is there any other place I should consider?

Capri, my friend has a timeshare at Worldmark and they have always been very happy with it. I do believe they have even walked to the park some of the times. A hotel that has nice family suites is the Hyatt. They have different set up but I think one of them is 1 room with king bed, 1 room with 2 queen beds and then a living room with sofa sleeper. They aren't cheap, cheap but definately cheaper than the Grand. Right now they have special going on and the suite is about $300 a night. And the last time I stayed there, they had there own shuttle bus that only stopped at 1 other hotel. Very nice.

I've been MIA lately but still following along when possible. I've just been busy with work and Madison's school stuff. I'm ready for summer. We booked our stay at the Grand and I'm really looking forward to getting back to DL. We got this cute little personalized planner in the mail today. It's set up like the monorail and has maps in it, restaurant info and hotel info. Darn...I wish it wasn't 2 months away.

I hope you all have a great end of the week. The weekend is almost here.....sorry Katie :goodvibes. Take care all.

Thanks! Just 18 years before I can take her on a Diva Trip !

I just might be getting my first Dooney. I really like this one. So, should I treat myself?
rdv302890SMALL.jpg

I really like that one!

It's snowing here today. Yep, snow. Luke said it snows when God shaves. Okaaaay, never heard that one, but I thought it was both creative and humorous. :goodvibes

Hi Capri!
We took my Mom with us in 2010, and we actually booked two nights at HOJO and then 3 nights at Paradise Pier Concierge level. We were then upgraded to a suite which was wonderful! But if we wouldn't have been, we still would have had the two queens and the day bed, plus the concierge lounge for getting space. That was really luxurious for my Mom, who hadn't been on a vacation for 18 years...and I loved doing that for her.

So I had my group interview today. It was really fun. Seriously fun! But they are interviewing a total of 30 people to hire 2 part time CM's. Not sure if I will make the final cut. I should know soon enough.
Thanks for all your well wishes.

Jen, Sorry for what you are going through!
Katie, you too! I have a teenager. What is with that night owlism?? Drives me crazy!
Jill, I hope you will get some restful days!

If I don't make it back before Easter, I hope you all have a great weekend.

Capri you can go on getaway today and price it out but we used to stay at the Holiday Inn Staybridge which is in on Manchester. Not TOO far and they have the ART there. They have rooms similiar to what Tracey was mentioning at the Hyatt but I think probably less money. We always stayed in a room that had 1 king bedroom a living room/kitchenette and a room with 2 queens. And of course then you have the two bathrooms which is ALWAYS nice with a larger group. They also have a REALLY nice breakfast in the mornings which saves money.

Good luck and I think that is really sweet of you to take your mom on your trip.

Woo hoo!! I love obstacle course races....I wish there were more. You should come up to Nor Cal for the Tough Mudder. Are you doing the Color Run?

I've never done a Mud Run/Obstacle race so I'm not sure what to expect. I don't even know what I should wear.

The Color run down here is the day after the Mud Factor run. I think it's sold out already.
