I like 2/7-2/11, too.
Oh, and just to make it clear, I do expect crowds on the weekend. No doubt. But what shocked me this time, was how crowded it was from the start. Thurs and Fri were nuts. We usually have a quiet time before the storm so to speak, and this time it was busy the entire trip.

That's what we were thinking. Coming in on Wed night, even late after work, would still give you a fresh start Thursday morning, and allow all day in the park. It just felt less.... I don't know...rushed to me.

I agree with everything you said Beth.
And I like the early Feb dates. I think the crowd levels are a big factor for everyone. And the DVC points being so much lower. It makes the cost per person very reasonable. We could plan a big farewell breakfast Sunday morning. I felt like I didn't get to say goodbye to a lot of friends. :flower3:

Cough cough.. ahhh chooo.. ugh
I gave "permission" to my body to fall apart now that I'm home. Hmmmm, maybe that wasn't a good idea. :sad2:

Not that I have anything else going on anyway.:thumbsup2 But my husband also being sick is no fun, I can't order him around to treat me like the queen that I am :flower3:

Date/crowd concerns as the Minniesooooooooootah diva:

I used a GAC this trip, thus crowds were not quite an issue for my fave rides in DL (fantasyland) but the time waits in DCA made it impossible to enjoy anything without a fastpass or single rider line.

Alison and I stayed for World of Color's last showing on Sunday, very small crowd and pretty much dead anywhere else in the park. Hopped over to DL that night, also much lighter crowds.

Megan (staley) and I were chatting about possible dates, I know pushing up a week would be an issue (twins birthdays) for her.

I would like a less crowded week - pushed forward (2/28 -3/4) or earlier (2/7 - 2/11) is fine for me. (Leaning for 2/7 -2/11 to ensure I see all of my buddies - another Megan-less trip would be very sad -indeed!)

Something to keep in mind. Knowing dates in advance helps me budget to save all year. However, early dates might be hard if someone is relying on a tax return to fund the trip.

I also did not feel like I got to say goodbye to a lot of people!!

Me too! We talked about that on Sunday, having some type of "closing" event would be a nice addition. Could be simple like coffee, juice and some muffins bought at a grocery store and meet up outside the park.. do they still have the picnic area?

Well, I learned one thing on this trip. I am too sedentary to do the scavenger hunt. Even on the "meandering team", it was still too much running about with no time off my feet. I'm still paying for it. LOL

I think next year I would like to be on one of the committees..... pretty please? LOL I know I tried to get on the M&G committee for this year but it was already full.

If it was announced this year I missed it, do we have a solid date for next year's trip? I know there was a lot of discussion about moving it one weekend later. Did the collective "we" reach a verdict on that?

The hunt was fun, but I was so tired afterwards that I'm not sure if it was worth it. I think I've finally found the one thing that wears me out!:rotfl2:

I enjoyed the hunt from the perspective of something new & fun to do and also loved learning more about the park. But the intensity of trying to find so much in a short time was a bit crazy...fun, but crazy!:)

So I was thinking maybe for next year, if everyone is agreeable, I could make up some scavenger hunt sheets that are just for fun and people could pick them up at the M&G. That way people that enjoy a slower paced day could also have fun....or maybe....I can start an intense training regimen now...

Practice leaping over strollers in a single bound.

Learn to rock climb so I can go up the Matterhorn and use my binoculars to find everything.

Start going up to strangers in the mall and insist they are "INSERT COMMITTEE MEMBER NAME HERE". That way I won't be hesitant to approach people in disguise in each land!

Get a job at DL, so I can have access to the underground tunnels.

Visit the Nike campus and get some aerodynamic outfits. A fanny pack and sweatshirt just aren't going to cut it next year.:thumbsup2

Oh yes...I have a plan in the works!:rotfl2:

K... there will be no Megan free trip next time B. DH and I are getting APs in June when we go... So... no family surgery, lack of fundage, small childrens needs... any of it.. are getting in the way

I dont care when the trip is planned.. IM GOING. I havent been since before the twins were born. and they turn three this weekend. LOL!

Now I know this will be shocking...but any date or days will work for me.:):scared1:

Yikes! Talk of dates has already started. If the vote is for the week of Feb. 7-11th, I won't ever be able to make that week, or the coming years to come. :sad2: That is the week that I am in charge of the huge fundraiser.

So my vote would be the same week as this year's or bump it back a week, to see if it worked out better for crowds. All I know, is that Friday was insane this year. :scared1:

Wish I had more time to talk.

Eeek, then Feb 7-11 will not work!

Well, if you say Thurs night, Fri night, Sat night, and Sun night then that's 4 nights.
If you stay Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sat, that's 4 nights. So either way, it's the same.

Now, if you want to make it a 3 night trip, just come Thursday morning. The meet and greet will still be that night, so you won't miss anything. :thumbsup2

The past 2 years I have come in Thursday late morning and left Sunday (3 nights). Not knowing what the cost is on the villas (even a ballpark idea), I have no clue if 4 nights over there would fit the budget. I'm sure it can be done, it might just mean skipping out on more table dining. Already ran it past hubby that I might be gone the weekend before Valentine's Day, but since we are supposed to do a cruise next year for our 20th anniversary and my (gasp) 50th birthday, I don't expect that we would have any plans to go anywhere for V Day.

TOTALLY LOVE this idea! I felt the same way this trip. *sniff* LOL
