Regarding dates.... okay...
It is, or it has been in the past, a touchy subject. But, that was when the options were literally spread out over three months, February, March and April. I think it was too open, too many choices.
From what I heard on this trip, the crowds were a concern. Especially for those who aren't local (not to knock the locals in any way), and don't go as often. If you are flying from a far distance, like our Minnesota Diva just as one example, you are spending a lot of time and money. Having those massive crowds making it hard to do anything is a real bummer. Especially when you know you can't go again a week or even a month later.
I wasn't there last year, but what I heard from those who were is that the crowds, even just a week later, were much less.
Next year, if we go Feb. 21 - 25, we are going to once again run into that being the week of President's Day/"ski week", same as this year.
If we bumped it back a week, as suggested by some, it would be Feb. 28 - March 4.
In any case, the discussion was not to open up a free for all with the dates. No. From what I heard there are only three options at hand:
1. Keep it as is, Feb. 21-25, 2013.
2. Bump it back one week to Feb. 28-March 4, 2013.
3. Bump it up to Feb. 7-11, 2013.
Those were the only options I was aware of. That's only three possibilities, all basically within the month of February.
The other suggestion, regardless of when the trip is, was changing it from Thursday through Monday, to Wednesday through Sunday. I'd say about 90% of the group typically leaves at some point on Sunday anyway.
And a couple people mentioned they'd like to come in on Wednesday night next year.
I did for the first time, and I really enjoyed already being there on Thursday morning, being able to relax, have a full day in the parks, etc.
We'd still keep the Meet and Greet on Thursday night though, just in case some can't make it until then. But even coming in after work on Wednesday would work for some of you.
So, a couple things to think about. Thoughts? Opinions? Questions?

. But what do I care, I can go whenever I want so I always leave it up to the group, because I mostly go to hang out and the crowds don't bother me.
