Girls Only Trip (old planning thread, see link to new one in 1st post)

Put me down too! Dh is working that night. It says they have a full bar so maybe they'll have Magicale?
:drinking1
Jen, you said the time is up for discussion. Anyone want to make it a tad earlier?

Looks like Napa Rose closes at 10pm, so let's say
Hearthstone Lounge
Saturday, May 9
at 9pm

Attending so far:
Jen/grizbuzz
Cheryl/toocherie
Vicki/CoMickey (if she makes it to DL)

Let us know if you're joining the fun!

Please bring your friends/family.

And this time/place is still open for discussion if there are alternative ideas!

I'm gonna put this back up.....I think it totally got lost in the conversations yesterday.....

suggestions for group photos:

There's that area over by GRR with the water wheel running that would make a nice background for a photo......also if there's water back in the lagoon, that would be pretty as well.

It would be cool if they'd let us get up on the Golden Horseshoe stage for a group pic! How bout in front of IASW (as we're coming from all over......)??

Character meals......I'm good with any of them. Love Goofy's, had a blast at Lilo's & saw a ton of characters at Minnie's. Ariel's sounds like a must for Diva's!!! Never been to the Storyteller's meal.

Group meals elsewhere......good pretty much anywhere...but have no use for Rancho del Zocalo (worse meal I've eaten at DL).

Very sad about the fires in Santa Barbara.........and it's only May....scary thought!!!

No biggie on the "spoiler" for AI.....I wasn't on line, so missed it...... but avoiding reality show topics until the next morning would be lovely..... :flower3:

K, that's about it for now, gotta get the kid to school.....will check back in later!!!!

Have a great Thursday!!! :rotfl:

I don't see why we couldn't meet earlier. I may be a little late, as I have to get my munchkins to bed. But you all can gather before me and who knows, maybe I'll just be able to break free. WHAT TIME ARE YOU THINKING?

Hi all! I'm heading home this morning....:cool1: But I'll only be home until Sunday morning and then I'm leaving again for work. :headache: This is the second time in four years that I've had to leave on Mother's Day for work. So I've decided to move Mother's Day until the following Sunday. ;)

I love all of the suggestions for the group shots. The waterfall in CA would be great and so would the area by the theater. Most of you know I'm more of a go with the flow on these trip. I'm open to trying any of the character meals. I loved the food at Rancho... and they do have lots of seating.

Now for my questions... For those that attended this past year, did you like the itinerary tags? Did you use them? Would you like to see more listed on them? Were there items that you didn't like on the tags? I'd like to do them again and wanted to see what you all thought of them. For those that didn't attend last year. I made tags that had a basic overview of the times tours started, our meals that were scheduled on here, scavenger hunt.

I'm thinking this time I will start earlier in creating them and would like to add some things such as, park hours (maybe), shirt color for each day, and anything else we get a concensus on. I also plan on laminating them this way the ink won't run for those that go on water rides or may have a spill.

Morning all.

Steph I LOVED that. I am SO darn forgetful esp with this stupid medication I am on. My doc flat out told me that the combination of meds I am on effects memory so YES! Please. That would be awesome and I am sure the others would agree. I loved the phone lists AND the itineraries. I still have my lanyard in my drawer with last years still in it LOL. And my phone list is still in my bag. I used it when I met Michelle in April. :)

Anything like that is SO helpful!!

I am sorry you won't be home for mother's day. I know how much that sucks. Shane had drill weekend like two years in a row on mother's day and then he was in Iraq for 15 month's so was gone for mother's day and then he came home and ended up working out of town for his civi job. So for like 5 mother's days in a row he was gone. So I know what you mean. I was mentioning that in an earlier thread to Janelle. But he has been home now for the last few years and REALLY made up for it so I am lucky. But like you said who cares. It is not the day but how you spend it. Just move it. I know a lot of my military wife friends would hold off on Christmas or birthdays if their dh's were coming home from deployment a few weeks after a holiday or something so they could spend it with them. So go for it I say. ;)

Anyway today is short day at school but I FINALLY have nothing going on but a date with the laundry basket. It is weird because it is supposed to be hot today but we woke up to fog outside. I STILL have my stupid headache. Man I can't wait for this week to be over. It makes it so dang hard to do ANYTHING. But I HAVE to get stuff done around here. It is piling up. So I will try to do it because it MUST get done. I have my apt with my neuro next month so I am going to ask him for some better drugs in case I get any bad migraines like this again cuz just excedrin aint working! I ran out of all my scrips for all my good drugs a long time ago cuz since I have been doing the hormones I haven't needed any migraine meds like Imitrex or vicodin so hopefully he can get me a script just in case this happens again.

So anyway hope everyone has a GREAT day today and I hope those near the fires are ok!!

Take care and talk later!! :)

Good morning everyone! It's almost the weekend!

Jen, you said the time is up for discussion. Anyone want to make it a tad earlier?

Donna - Sorry your DH has to work but I am glad you will be joining us! Luckily my DBF doesn't work weekend nights and hopefully his schedule will be slowing down some because the project he was working so frantically on has been pulled back. I did love that he was racking up the comp time...amazing that I have more vacation time than he does and he is an engineer and has worked at the same company for 15 years and I am only an senior account manager for a hotel technology group and have worked for them for 5 years. Funny how these things work!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning everyone. :wave2:

I need to start an education law essay today and get caught up on laundry, so between folding I'll be writing.

Steph, I loved the itinerary tags you made! I used them A LOT. I can't tell you how many times I would have to look at them to figure out where I was supposed to be next, or what was the next event. Adding the shirt colors for each day and park hours would be super, and laminating them would be awesome. :cheer2::yay::cheer2:

Just popping in to say good morning, good afternoon and good night.

I've been busy today working on a job application. It's the most involved job application I have ever done in my life. I had do a 4 page report on why I'm the best candidate for the job and then they had a questionnaire that you had to write a detailed answer for each question. Then the application itself was 7 pages long. Yesterday, I actually had to go take a test for them before they'd even let me fill out the application. I guess I did okay because they gave me the application . Tomorrow I turn in all the paperwork and then I have an interview on Friday.

Whatever happened to just submitting a freakin' Resume???:headache:

I doubt I'll even get the job so there are hundreds of people applying. It's a rough job market right now.

Good luck Katie!!

Bummer about being gone on Mother's Day, but like that you just moved it to next Saturday.

And I loved my itinerary tags you made. It was nice to have them right there. They made it a lot easier to manage time and know what was what.

Steph - I loved the itinerary tags you made and appreciate the time you put into it :thumbsup2

I want to go to Cove Bar too....... and I agree, pommes frites are a must do :thumbsup2

I would also love to meet up at the Cove Bar. Haven't been there yet.

Yummy, pommes frites

Wow, where on earth are you applying??? The White House?? Well, good luck.

It seems that way doesn't it. It's actually an accountant position for a large utilities company. I guess they are trying to eliminate the people who aren't serious or qualified since there are so many people applying :confused3.

Good luck Katie!!

Thanks, I'm going to need it. I really doubt I'll get it. I know I'm qualified, but there are so many people applying that there is bound to be someone more experienced.

Sorry you don't get to spend Mother's Day with your kids .

I think the tags sound like a great idea. I get forgetful sometimes so that will be a major help :thumbsup2.

Good morning! My life has been so busy lately with work (a good thing!), but I'm having a hard time keeping up with you girls!!!!!
Beth, thanks for posting in the title when there is new info at the top of the thread! It helps a lot!!!!
Steph--I loved the cards you made, and I used it often. Thanks for doing that!
I'm also loving the idea of several group photo ops.
Alright, I'll be up to my elbows in pulled pork today, so I gotta go shower to prepare myself!
Talk to yo later!

I hear ya. I've been really busy lately too, and it was great to see the updated title with the new info. Big thanks to Bethy for that! :flower3:

I know you've been extremely busy! It seems like you're always working. How do you get it all done? Well, here is a hug to keep you going.

Morning everyone!

Seems like I missed a lot of discussion yesterday, but I totally trust that by the time the trip rolls around that I will be in the know. I know that I haven't posted much lately, but I do at least read to keep up with the chatter.

It's finals week on campus so I am a lot less busy than during the school year (no night and weekend commitments for the next 3 months), but I am gearing up to fly to Indiana in a week. Every summer I facilitate a national leadership institute for fraternity and sorority members at Indiana University. It's a 5 day long program, plus a day for training, and because I am flying from pacific time to eastern time, I basically lose a day traveling too. So, in essence I will be gone an entire week. And, unless I ante up for the mini laptop that I have been eyeing, I won't have internet access the entire time I'm gone!!!

Sometimes it feels like I'm out of the loop if I don't get to read for a few hours or even a day. I can't imagine what 7 days away is going to be like. I'm soooo going to need the Cliff Notes edition!

THe front page should fill you in on anything important.

Have fun at the leadership conference.

Good morning Divas! I hope you all slept well, I did! :upsidedow

I was wondering if anybody had any new news about the fire? I'm having a hard time finding anything about it on the internet. It will be hard for me to get a hold of my advisor because he's from the Ventura campus and all of the Santa Barbara campuses were evacuated because they're on Alameda Padre Serra near Mission Canyon, Cota & State, and Mission St & State near Cabrillo. some of which are all near the heart of the blaze. :sad2: Mission St. has over 25 million dollars worth of equipment too. All that matters is that people are safe. Materials can be replaced. Well needless to say, all of the staff at Ventura will be swamped today so calling me back might not be a priority.

At least the family whose guest space I'm moving into is safe and offering my space to an evacuated family in the meantime.

I'm very worried, but I'm moving regardless. If school has to wait, I'll help rebuild. :grouphug: I'd be pacing right now but life must move on. I'm doing laundry and going through my filing cabinets :crazy2: I can't stand purging old bills and receipts and stuff like that!

What are you ladies up to today?

I know that anything trip related will be on the front page... I've been around here long enough to know that :lmao:

What I will be missing is all the personal stuff--what's going on in everyone's lives, favorite TV shows, and all that jazz. Most of the time that kind of stuff is far more interesting that the planning that we are doing for a trip that's still eons away!

Good morning, ladies.

Hola, Bridgette!

Here's a link to the MSN article. And the local news is keyt.com

I heard a lot of helicopters last night, I think they were headed that way. You can still see the smoke from where I am. I'm praying everyone over there is okay. I hope your school stays safe. Apparently it's really windy over there right now (not here atleast) and that's what's making putting the fire out so hard.

I wish it was Friday already.

Today my coworkers are taking myself and another coworker out to lunch for our birthdays, that should be nice. :yay:

Hi Bridgette - Here's a link to the news channel in Santa Barbara. http://www.keyt.com/ The latest that I had heard the fire is not contained but it seems that the winds have died down some but they are concerned about the winds later today and the 'sundowner' winds. I know it is supposed to be hot again today. Santa Barbara broke a record yesterday...the normal temps should be in the mid 80's but it was 100 yesterday. Hoping the fires miss your school!

The Govinator is in SB right now.

Keeping busy will be good for you - help to keep your mind off of things.

Good Morning All:)

We will try to make it to the Hearthstone Lounge at 8:30 pm, probably a better time for us anyway.

Steph, I too, loved the intineraries you made for us. It reminded me of where I was going to next as well as where some of my friends might be if not where I was. I love all the little extras all the ladies made/bought/provided. I am trying to think of a little something I can do for everyone next year.;)

BIG & EXCITING news is....guess what they are serving at the Sweet Sunday event on Mother's Day? Magical!:banana:And it's free flowing, whooo hooo! Not that I can drink that much on a Sunday morning.:eek:So, my friend Cheryl and I will be enjoying the magic bubbly in three days - I can't wait!:cloud9:

I feel so behind here! I've tried to keep up. Steph, I loved the tags you made, and thought they were really nice. I think they were fine the way they were, but then again, I'm type A and had brought printouts of the front page, phone list, etc. :lmao: I think having the shirt colors and park times would be helpful.

So, last night at the grocery store, I was that person. I get up there with my big cart of groceries, they are scanned, in my cart, and my visa check card won't work! You can just see the eyes rolling, and sighs happening in the long line behind me. Of course then I'm all like, WTH, and they put it through again, I have nothing else on me. Then I decided to try it as a debit, and it worked! whew! So, I call the bank this morning, and it seems that my card number has been comprimised, and so they put a $50 limit on the card. They can't tell me how the number was comprimised, and where it happened or anything (great! what's to stop me from doing it again, if it's at a place I use frequently?). So, that was my embarrassing exciting moment for the night.

I'm sure DH won't mind the $50 limit a day. I sometimes like to shop online...:rolleyes1
