Beth, that price is crazy. At Dl, that is the cost of a large cake, fully decorated, that serves like 35-40 people!

Does Costco decorate cakes? Some of the grocery store bakeries do.

Another thing you can do is print out pictures of Twilight actors (from the internet). Then glue stick those to foamcore board. Cut out with a knife or mat knife. Stand the figures up on the cake... you can pick a setting if you want (like a field of grass with the trees) and put the characters in the setting.

Why does it say that the ent rate is for the entire length of our trip? I called today and they said it was only for March.:confused3

Good evening ladies!

I have a question for DVC owners. My parents are going away to Europe in January for their 25th anniversary. Diana and I think we should plan our own little vacation while we babysit Anais for them. We REALLY REALLY want to stay onsite but I'm wondering if it's more affordable to rent DVC points rather than just book a room. I just think it would be real awesome if we could stay onsite and have early morning entry.

Thanks!

I made a little ditty TR over on the October thread.
Oh fun, I'll have to go check that out.

I'm going to print out some pics of cakes I found online and take them too some of the bakeries and see what they can do. I have 3 weeks or so to figure it out luckily. If worse comes to worse, I'll bake cupcakes and decorate them myself using the Twilight colors of red, black and white.

The ET rate was already available for all the trip dates except the very last night. At least it was back when most of us originally booked it. I know I have the $79 ET rate reserved for all my nights except the last one. But Steph posted yesterday that the last night finally became available and to call and ask for the discount. I didn't get a chance to call yet, but I will later today.

Are you saying the ET rate is no longer available for the Feb dates?? If so, I hope everyone had already booked it back when it was being offered.

Morning ladies!!

Yikes is this thread dead or what????

I hope everyone is doing well. Today is like my Friday! The kids don't have school tomorrow or Monday, so we get a four day weekend. And Ruben is off tomorrow too. (works Sunday instead)
So tomorrow I plan to sleep in (hopefully) and then Noelle and I are going to spend the day out together, get her hair cut, maybe do some window shopping or start getting ideas for Christmas presents, and then grab some lunch. I love days like that. :goodvibes

And it's almost Halloween!!!! :yay: The kids have their Halloween parties today. Noelle wore her costume in to school. She looks so cute if I do say so myself. And the twins get to change into theirs later in the day for a costume parade. Fun stuff.

Well, have a good day everyone. TTYL! :)

Usually it's cheaper to rent points than booking a regular room, but it all depends on the time of year & if it's a weekend. Friday & Saturday night stays are about double the points so they are usually not a better deal, especially if you can get an AP discount.

If you let me know your dates, I can check the point chart and let you know how many points it would be. People who rent usually charge $10-$13/per point.

Hope this helps.

Good morning and happy thursday everyone!!

First off Trudi LOVE the cake!! You did a GREAT job with it. You are very talented and it looks YUMMY! So glad you like the pan! :) And PS Beth if you like it they had them at Target. They may still have them since it's not quite halloween yet ;)

Beth I like Donna's idea about the cake! I know what you mean about them being so expensive. I hope you find something. Also if you are interested in getting her a twilight calendar they had a New Moon one at Walmart when I was there. I almost got one for the girls yesterday but wasn't sure if they would want that or not. I bought one for Lynn last Christmas and then when she "left" Katy ended up with it. Now that they have separate rooms I need to get TWO calendars and I found a REALLY cute Tink one that I think I am going to get Shelby but I wasn't sure if Katy wanted another Twilight one but upon some investigative probing I found out she DOES indeed want it so I will probably make another trip back to Wally World today to pick those up. They were only 5 bucks too!! :)

I ACTUALLY got some christmas stuff bought yesterday as well!!! The girls wanted the new ice age movie and I needed a mini album for my trip pics so I went over there and they had the new Tink movie which Shelby HAD to have so I got her that for Christmas and then they had some REALLY cute christmas pj's so I picked up a few pair and also some cute disney flannels with tink and ariel (the girls fav characters). I also got shelby an adorable hat, glove and scarf set with tink on them. So my shopping has begun!

Things are going to be a lot leaner this year with Shane's paycut and we splurged quite a bit on this trip so my credit card is screaming plus of course we have our car ins and both regs due all at once and I got my ER bills. YUCK! TOO much due all at once and of course it has to be RIGHT during the holidays and Katy's birthday is coming up in dec as well.

But what else is new eh? I will be VERY anxious for my tax return this year and hope it isn't too puny! We lose Lynn on the child tax credit since she is 17 AND they dropped the exemption in Calif from 300 per kid to 98 so instead of getting a refund we may even OWE. Every year I usually get about 500-700 BACK since we claim 0 but with them changing the laws even paying in EVERYTHING we STILL might owe! It really sucks! Plus I usually get about 4000 back on my federal and I use that to pay off my credit cards and have some left over for my trips but I bet this year I only get HALF that with losing Lynn and the tax changes. After paying off my cards I probably won't have hardly anything left and that was my money for feb! :(

Oh well we shall see I guess!

Anyway nuff about that.

Got most of my chores and running around done yesterday and the girls had a BLAST last night at church. I didn't know they could wear their costumes but when we went to pick them up they had rented a bounce house for them and they let them walk around to the various church buildings and trick or treat and then as they left they handed them out more baggies full of candy. That was really neat for them. I am just SO sad that we won't be at that church anymore. We will most likely follow our pastor wherever he ends up but we have a beautiful sanctuary and nursery/classrooms a nice fellowship hall with a full kitchen and then our whole congregation helped build church offices about 10 years ago. It is just sad. I have a bad feeling that we are going to end up in some store front or something because the methodist church is seizing our churches bank acct and everything. We aren't going to even have any money to buy anything NEW! Oh well we are just going to have to enjoy the next 6 months and pray REALLY hard that something good comes along!

Anyway I am probably going to run back to Walmart as I said and to the post office and otherwise that's bout it for me. The girls have their last soccer practice tonight and then tomorrow I know Shelby at least is having a party at school for halloween and not sure about Katy. She always seems to get the dud teachers that won't let them have one. They are REALLY weird here about letting the kids do parties or bring treats. Don't get me started on that one cuz I think it is REALLY dumb!

Then tomorrow night is the spookarama for Girl Scouts which should be a LOT of fun for them!

Then Saturday morning our game is REALLY early. I just hope it is not too cold, nor too cold Saturday night for trick or treating. We shall see. I hope everyone has some fun plans for Saturday!! All the kidlets AND grownups alike! Any grownups going to any parties?

Anyway that's bout it for me! Hope everyone has a GREAT day and talk soon! :)

I wish my kids had a four day weekend this weekend :rolleyes1.

So what are kids costumes for Halloween?

Katie.. your babygirl is so adorable.. she makes me smile everytime i think about her! Big Hugs for You:hug:

Heather.. i hope your Daddy gets stronger with each passing day!

Donna... Hey that is good advice you gave Beth about the cake!

Beth.. have you pic searched on yahoo or google? I'll look for you some ideas.

Trudi... Your cake is so pretty! WoW! I'm impressed.

CheryL...I'm trying to book the flights for the feb/mar trip, while i've got two free tickets... Thank You SouthWest Airlines:worship: But I'm not sure of the dates that Melody booked us for?

I just had to look at the cake again! Trudi.. you really did beautiful work on it. What flavor cake is on the inside?
You are so creative, I remember that cute bag You made Tina!

Donna's on the right track, but you can even do one better as a do-it-yourselfer. They make edible image paper (usually called rice paper) that you can purchase from any bakery supply store. Pick your images online and print them out the same as if you were making an iron on for a t-shirt. Then you just lay the paper on top of the frosting and it kind of melts on creating your image on the top of your cake. Disney uses this technique all the time for their cupcakes and many of the cakes they make. Also, any bakery that does the photo cakes (even like Albertsons or Vons) should be able to do this too if you don't want to make it yourself. But, since you are such a talented baker this should be easy breezy for you to pull off!

That is super-clever, Jane!!! Yes!

Beth, I will call now but they told me I could only get the ent rate for the last two nights. I wouldn't be dealing with this so late but Theresa just decided she needed to room alone to get her work done.

Alrighty our flights are booked for Feb/Mar.

Feb 25th arrival at 12:00 {we will have lunch then shop til time to check in}
March 2nd Departure at 9:15 {this was the only non stop flight}

Beth... what about cupcakes? They are so much fun! I think everyone secretly likes them better than cake.. because they are your own individual cake.

Here's some really cute twillight cupcakes..

These sound like alot of fun! What a big surprise too!

http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to/video/how-to-make-twilight-bleeding-vampire-cupcakes-268193/

This site has a kewl themed dinner menu.. it's easy peasy with pizza even.. but how fun to tie into the movie.

Here are some favors you could make easily.

Just print and attach with double sided tape

Here's table decorations and favors displayed

How cute would it be to put cherry sours in a clear ziplock then print out a logo from the movie and double side tape it to the bag!
Or red licorice like these people did.

Kewl cookies..i've never seen red velvet cookies, i like the logo for the bags

This is really neat too, because you would have to be a twilight fan to get it.

How kewl.. you could do this to a bottle of big red soda.

See so much you can do without spending alot of money. And you can make it really unique and special!

50 dollars is too much for a small family party.. the BIG cake we had at my mom's birthday party fed 31 people with several taking cake home.. and it was 50.

Saw an ad last night for Baskin and Robbins ice cream cakes starting at 9.99 too.... (that bakery near Beth sounds like a rip...)

Just a few more because they are so neat.

This site has the quotes that go with the items for the party bags and they can all be purchased from the grocery store. Thereby incorporated into your budget.

This page even has a twilight cd compilation mix .. as well as free downloads for twillight graphics

This woman has really great ideas for parties. I'm book marking her site.

Hey look they even took a picture of their shoes like we did in vegas:rotfl:

Okay..that's enough of me posting.:upsidedow

Jane's rice paper product if you can't find it locally (but considering where you live, I'll bet you can get it there).

$2.90 for ten sheets. Beth, maybe you can go into the custom cake business yourself! (I'm serious about this - you get a picture from the family and run it through your computer, etc. You just need to see about zoning laws for food products like this in your state. Sometimes you have to get a permit. I think some famous people started this way)

Also if you are interested in getting her a twilight calendar they had a New Moon one at Walmart when I was there.
Already got it. :thumbsup2

I wish my kids had a four day weekend this weekend :rolleyes1.

So what are kids costumes for Halloween?
Well, in my family Adam is not dressing up. He's staying home to help Ruben pass out candy. He's too cool to dress up now.

Noelle is a 60's flower child. You can't see in the pic, but she's got some really funky sandals on, and some beaded peace sign earrings that match the dress. Also it didn't show up well in the pic, but that mark on her face is a flower tattoo.

Lindsey is a cowgirl. We bought a different hat though, a brown one that matches better with the outfit.

And Hannah is a Devil/Angel:

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but if you notice in all my baking pics on FB none of them are of the creative variety! Tasty, ok. Creative, not happening. lol
I do like that idea though and I know some bakeries will do those photo cakes so I'm going to look into that. Thanks!

Beth, I will call now but they told me I could only get the ent rate for the last two nights. I wouldn't be dealing with this so late but Theresa just decided she needed to room alone to get her work done.
Ah, I see. Yep, even when she comes to Vegas Theresa is always working. One of the downfalls of being self-employed I guess.
Well, why not just contact Lorealle and see if she can book you a room with the ET rate? She knows most of the ladies here and if you explain the situation to her, I know she'll help out. Or if not, see if someone else can book another room in their name using the ET rate they already have, and then at a later date have it put in your name.

Are you looking for a roommate? Or do you want your own room?
