We have TONS of dvds. I have walls of those suckers disney movies and more. My don't touch is the disney collection kids know to ask us to put the movie on, but they are still young, and not able to be as carefull. My Marilyn Monroe collection, and then (runs and hides) The Anna Nicole Show.
 :rotfl:

Movies for me are:

Ever After
Runaway Bride
Wedding Date
Enchanted
The Holiday
An Affair to Remember- an oldie
Shakespheare In Love
Legally Blonde
Kate and Leopold
Parent Trap-original the best
You Got Mail

I believe the list could go on.
I am definitely a chick flick lady. So is my DH. He loves these movies too! :goodvibes

Morning all. Ah the movies.

Yeah you know I probably shouldn't have let my kids touch the Disney films esp since they go into the vault but our section where we have "our" movies got so full that I have a stack sitting on the floor now LOL. So finally I took all the Disney and "kid" oriented movies like Harry Potter and such and moved them into the living room (which is where "their" tv is) and so we bought them one of those cheapie dvd/video players. And yes they STILL have some old vhs tapes like barbie and barney and some really old ones. My oldest is SUPPOSED to put them in for them but now my middle one is 9 but I DO get mad at them cuz I will go in and find the dvds laying on top of the player or several cases laying around. I have told them I BETTER not find any scratches on any of the Disney ones since you can't just go out and replace those! Of course now that we have a Blue Ray I suppose I may end up replacing some of the classics.

As I said when we got that I probably won't buy just ANY old movie on Blue Ray cuz I can't stomach those prices but I could see buying Disney because of the quality and all the extras that you get.

I know that from now on any NEW Disney movies that come out we will get it for sure.

Anyway today I have to go back to work. BLEH. And then tonight is the lovely Cookie Rally. YIPPEE! But the girls will have fun so that is all that matters.

Anywho that's it for me for now. :)

I'm back! I go away for 3 days and now I have 15 pages to read in a NEW thread?!? Boy, you ladies are chatty.

I hope those who have been sick are finally getting better. :grouphug:

Thanks for all the well wishes for Christine; she should be in Uganda now. She won't have all-the-time internet access so we're waiting (patiently, I might add) for her first blog update. If anyone is interested in following her happenings, the website is http://GingersAbroad.blogspot.com. We had fun in DC, but every step we took I knew was one step closer to her leaving, which also made me sad :( I'm not worried about her safety, I'm just going to miss her so much!!! Good thing it's only for a semester. It's really no different than her going away to school, other than we won't get to talk to her much (that's what I have to keep telling myself?).

Now, off to read everything to get updated.

Beth, I updated my Photopass list; I also PM'd Theresa, Jane, & Heather for mailing addresses.

I say they have to at least be 21. You want them to be able to buy you some wine don't you? You don't want to be the GF who has to do the beer room.

Agreed--they need to be "legal". I have a girlfriend--a couple of years older than me--her rule is that if the guy wasn't alive when JFK was assassinated she won't date him.

I don't know. My good friend has gone to him since we were in college, so he's at least old enough to have gone through....that...school by '87. He started in his father's practice (is still in the same building actually) so that means he didn't have to be out on his own struggling...he's, obviously, 22 years older but his eyes are still amazing. :)

I'm used to him now, but the first time I saw him I blushed while we spoke, b/c he is so cute.

But my friend and I can't figure out if he's married or not.

Oh, he's probably gay then! Sigh--story of my life . . . .

On the sorority thing, I was not your typical rushee either. I rushed as a junior (because during orientation I was a resident assistant and some of the freshman were too scared to go on their own) and it turned out I knew a lot of Kappas. I was overweight (then too, sigh) and other than being involved in French Hall activities not really active on campus. But our chapter seemed to attract the off-beat (we would have taken Chesire's sister, for example!). We had one African-American girl (the first in a non-AA sorority--the AA sorority on campus was ticked) and a girl in a wheelchair.

Hi Everybody!:grouphug:
Yeahhhhhhh the retirement party for one of our managers is over... i cooked for 2 days.. and was so grateful my mom helped me.:worship:

The party was really great.. we had over 100 people come.. so nice to see so many of our clients in a down market.. it was great to visit with them.

I'm thankful all that work is over and it turned out so special as the Lady is a good person inside and out and deserved a wonderful party.

hhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

my tote... my mom's.. and from what wendy told me..hers... are not Disney totes...

But they are reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly *Nice*... so if non disney totes are not allowed.. we will trade amongst ourselves...:rotfl2: ...sorry it's the champagne talking...

The best part of hosting a party... is the AFTER party... when close friends take off their high heels.. and really eat yummy food and just get to visit over a sparkley glass of champagne.

Sweet Dreams Everyone.. Have a Great Day Tomorrow.:goodvibes

Sigh--have I mentioned I love champagne . . . . ?

That's funny. The guys should do a guys only trip. I'd love to see the pics from that. :lmao:

I am kind of embarassed to admit this but dh and I saw that in the movie theater.
I think we all have a movie that we watch whenever we see it's on tv. I love Steel Magnolias, The Wedding Date, Something's Gotta Give, Baby Boom, Beaches....I could go on.

steph

Steel Magnolias is my all-time favorite movie. I can watch it over and over and ov. . . . . .

Oh you guys have NO idea about movies. I am the movie queen. We have probably 2000 dvds if not more. I have been collecting movies since the 80's. I used to have probably that many video tapes and then I slowly started converting them to dvds. I used to belong to those clubs where you could get some many for a penny or whatever and then I would get the cheapie ones for like 5.00 etc. My thing is I collect the ones that are "classics", ones that are my favorite actors, I have ALL the Disney movies and then of course there is my TV collections. I have the little house on the prarie complete set (loved it as a kid), Friends, Ghost Whisperer, Lost and Charmed. I could probably have others but there is only SO much room. Those were my MUST haves though.

My friends have joked that I could open my own video store LOL.

I LOVE movies and for the first 5 years of dh and I's marriage we had two small babies so we NEVER went anywhere so we watched a LOT of movies.

I LOVE romantic comedies and I am a sucker for things like Pretty woman, When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle things like that.

LOVE Steele Magnolias and that is who my Shelby is named after.

Ahhh--I think Shelby is such a pretty name.

Glad you're back safe and sound--I've "favorited" Christine's web page.

Hmm? That was awhile ago for sure. I believe I was in the second grade.

Trying to catch up, so I'm writing bits & pieces before posting:

Kelly, my oldest DD was in GS for 12 years, with me as the leader about 10 of those 12 years. We had fun, the girls will always remember all the things we did. We were one of the most active troops in our group. The summer between 6th & 7th grade we took them (from Arizona) to Savannah, GA, then to WDW for 7 days! Man, I was wore out after that. But we took lots of pictures and have great memories. And that trip was fully funded by the cookies we sold over the previous 3 years, we started planning when they were in 3rd grade. Then, in 2007, when they all graduated high school, we took them on a cruise. We were down to 6 girls by then, and only 4 went, but 3 moms went as well and we had a blast. Another great memory. I was the pusher for the grocery store selling, only because I knew how much profit we could make, much more than the door-to-door selling. It is definitely a pain, but also more than worth it. The cookie selling we did while they were in 6th grade was the most we ever did, and that included 25 cookie booths at the stores!!! We had 10 girls at the time, so it was a pretty busy time!! Hang in there, it gets easier once the girls can take over leading the meetings. It also helps if the parents are very involved, which I'm very fortunate that mine were.

I love Romy and Michele's High School Reunion!! And Shawshank Redemption, we own that one. And Breakfast Club, I could probably name a friend for each character, I think we own that one, too.

Before I forget, I'm going to DLR next weekend, Jan. 17-19, my birthday is the 18th and I got my email last week. Has anyone gone for their birthday yet? Just curious how it works, since I have an AP.

Okay, I think I'm all caught up, that only took about 2 hours!!! :surfweb:

Glad to hear you had a nice trip. Very cool to be able to follow her travels through a blog.

Enjoy your birthday trip to DL.

looks like I'm the last one up!!! I just finished 3 small papers for school and I really should hit the hay since I have to get up in 6 hours but now I am AMPED!! I'm always at work when you are all chatting and when I am awake in the wee hours everyone is asleep!!!!

Jane....maybe you won't want to room with me after all!! :rotfl:

I think I can handle it. I have a toddler so I am used to being up at weird hours of the day and night!

You and I MUST have been seperated at birth!! LOVE movies, have a gazillion DVD's. Own some Disney movies in triplicate (you just never know when they are going into "the vault" and I might lose them etc!!), little house was my FAV tv show for probably 15 years and I still can watch the episodes over and over, and I am also a sucker for romantic comedies!!

Triplicate??? I thought I was bad with owning 2 copies each of my 2 faves (Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast)!

Sorry I haven't been on much lately. I've had a lot of work/supervisory stuff going on that has led to a lot of extra hours at work as well as a headache that doesn't seem to want to leave. But my boss (the wonderful person that she is) decided that I needed a break today and told me to take the day off :cool1: :cool1: . So hear I am just trying to rest and relax as much as I can with my younger 2 kids at home all day.;)

Hope you all have a great day.

Yay--I'm so excited to see you next weekend! From what I've heard, the lines for the ticket booths are REALLY long. I think your birthday is a non-blacklout day for you--so I know you have to stand in line somewhere to get your gift card or fastpasses or whatever you choose. I've heard the line at Guest Relations is somewhat shorter and I "THINK" you can also do it at City Hall (but not certain of that). In any event, my suggestion would be to get in line EARLY and get that part out of the way.

Have a great day yourself Steph!

I hope not. I got things to do tomorrow. :rotfl:
Well, I don't! :rolleyes1 10 pages, here we come!! :rotfl2:

The casual scoop XL seems more like a 2x
I suppose that's what I'll order then. I hope it fits. I don't like my clothes to be tight. I prefer them to be baggy. I guess we'll see.

Jerry Maguire
Love Jerry Maguire. "You had me at hello". So cheesy but still.

Anyone ever seen Under the Tuscan Sun with Diane Lane? That's one of my favorite "escape" movies.

Own some Disney movies in triplicate
Triplicate?? :rotfl:

My Marilyn Monroe collection, and then (runs and hides) The Anna Nicole Show.
You're not alone. DH and I were hooked on the Anna Nicole Show when it was on tv. So sad what happened to her son and her.

Enchanted

I am definitely a chick flick lady. So is my DH. He loves these movies too! :goodvibes
I love Enchanted. We all went to see that one in the theater.

I like chick flicks, but I also like a good scary film. My pride and joy is my Scream trilogy. Love it.
The only thing I am not into are Westerns and most Sci-Fi. I've never seen any of the Star Trek type of movies.

As I said when we got that I probably won't buy just ANY old movie on Blue Ray cuz I can't stomach those prices but I could see buying Disney because of the quality and all the extras that you get.
That's why in '07 we returned the Blue Ray DVD player the inlaws bought us. I was not about to pay those prices for a DVD so there was no point in keeping it.

Welcome back! I'm glad you had a nice time with her in DC. I know you'll miss her.
Thanks for sharing her blog link. I think it will be intersting to keep up with her and share in her adventures.

And Breakfast Club, I could probably name a friend for each character
I love all those Brat Pack movies. I own some of them, Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, and St. Elmo's Fire.

But my boss (the wonderful person that she is) decided that I needed a break today and told me to take the day off :cool1: :cool1:
That's GREAT! You sound like you could use the break. I hope it helps and that you enjoy your day.

friday7.gif

I am so happy it's Friday! This week seemed to drag on forever. It's hard getting back into a routine. And I am definitely not a morning person.

Hope you all have a good day! :)

I have a question and hopefully someone can help me out. I think I need to get a pay as you go US cell phone (not just for this trip - but for when I come down with my son and his friend as well, to keep in touch). If I use my Canadian cell phone, the bill is huge as everything is long distance - calling me or me calling anywhere.

Does anyone know how to go about that? Do I need one from Anaheim to get a local number to use?

I can change my own cell phone plan to a North American plan, but anyone calling me would be dinged long distance charges......

Hey gals I am here at work but wanted to say I stopped at the po box on my way in and I FINALLY got my shirt and it looks perfect. I orderd the long sleeve fitted in XL and it looks great. Even a little big so that is good! It has room to shrink if it does! :) We got on the computer and ordered mom an XL in the ladies casual scoop so hopefully that will work for her.

Glad that is done now we just have to get on getting our totes so we can have our friend start on embroidering the Disney characters. If they are ANYTHING as cute as my daughter's jackets that she did for xmas they are going to be AWESOME!! I may have to her do an extra one for me ;)

And Satcielee you are right I do love GS just hate the selling part of it. My girls started out as Daisys and I have EVERY intention of keeping them in till they graduate. My leader is intent on doing it and we plan to do the bronze and gold projects and all of it.

Sometimes she goes a little nuts but that is good I guess. We have had VERY active years and not so active years. But it is fun none the less. I REALLY want my girls to go to camp one year but finances and the fact that they do soccer and swim team have always kept them from going but I WANT them to do it eventually cuz I KNOW they will have a blast!

I know those are memories they will NEVER forget. Our troop started with 14 Daisies and sadly there are very few original girls left but we have a LARGE troop with multiple levels. At one point we had daisies, Brownies, jrs and Studio 2bs. And I don't know if you know but they have changed it. AT least in CA but I assume everywhere. They don't have the uniforms anymore but now the girls all just wear tan pants or skirts or whatever and white shirts and then their different vests and they broke the levels down now. You are now a Daisy for two years k-1 and brownie for 2, 2-3 jr for 2, 4-5 and so on. And they have new levels for the older girls. It is not just 2B anymore. They have cadets, ambassadors and some other things I am not sure about the older girls. My oldest is a jr and is in our troop but since she is the only one she acts more as a jr leader.

She started out as Juliet but then we added her as a 2B so she could go on activities.

But I REALLY want me girls to stick with it cuz I love what they can learn and we do fun outings, you know out of the book for the try-its. And of course the stuff for the fun patches. We do so much that my girls vests fill up before they move to the next level LOL.

I do love it but sometimes it gets overwhelming. But it IS fun!

I hope we can do some fun trips later when they get older!!

Anyway better get back to work!

I will try to get a pic in my shirt if not tonight then tomorrow to show you guys!

Bye!
