Ok ladies, now I really need prayers and pixie dust--big time.

a little surprised to see me here at 3:30 a.m.? wasn't I supposed to be at Disneyland with my Mom? Well, I was. We checked into the Paradise Pier at 3-ish and went over to guest services and turned in her Costco voucher and got her new annual pass and gift card,. Then we went to DCA and tooled around--took in the Bug show and had a late lunch/early dinner at the Pacific Wharf Cafe. It was starting to get cold--and lines were really long, so around 7-ish we decided to head back over to the hotel. We were almost at the hotel and she was behind me--and all of a sudden I heard this crash. How it happened I don't know--but she had toppled over on her scooter into the street!@!!!! I guess the incline was too much or something and over she went. She was immediately in a lot of pain and people (non-Disney people) came running from everywhere. It was amazing. One lady ran in the hotel and asked for help and security came out. People were standing around her to make sure a car didn't pull into the hotel and hit her lying on the ground. Security said a nurse was on her way and she would examine my Mom and make an assessment of whether paramedics were necessary. Well, I could tell from her moans that they were necessary so I told him to just call them--which he did over his radio. Security people kept arriving, then the fire dept. arrived then two nurses arrived. One lovely lady (a complete stranger) was sitting with my Mom this whole time holding her leg up to keep it from hurting while I was talking to the security/fire/nurse/paramedic people. Of course, they decided to transport her to UCI Medical Center. I took her scooter upstairs and then drove my car to the emergency room. By the time I got in to see her they had already taken x-rays and within minutes they came and told us that her hip was broken and she would need surgery.

The next few hours were doctor after doctor coming in to examine her. Finally around 1:30 a.m. they moved her to a room, where we then had to go through another whole round of questions about her medical condition. I got home about 20 minutes ago and am trying to de-stress enough to go to sleep. I went and checked out of the room. We don't know what time the surgery will be later today. I'm going to try to sleep for a couple of hours then call the hospital for news.

So prayers and pixie dust for my Mom please! (Oh, and the hotel was kind enough to refund all of my money--oh, and one other weird thing--when I came back to the room to put the scooter in before going to the hospital they had given us turn-down service, left three giant Mickey rice crispie treats and many chocolates, a picture of Mickey and Minnie and a towel animal! (well, really a towel cake). I don't know why. I'm really bummed because my Mom would have been really tickled. And I'm feeling terrible that if I hadn't taken her to DL this wouldn't have happened. .. . .

Oh Cheryl, your poor mom! Please don't feel bad though...she seems to love DLR just as much as you do.

That's a weird group of gifts to give you guys, but after her surgery I'm sure it will make her smile.

Obviously with me being up here I can't do anything, but I'm here for you anyway. And if you need to switch anything about the trip you just let me know, I'll work it out.

Hugs to you and really really really gentle hugs, well, how about some nice pats on the hand so as not to accidentally squeeze too hard, for your mom.

WOW! What a crazy week. I've barely been able to check in at all and the days are flying by. I've decided there has never been a better time for a vaca because work has been so horrible lately. Lots of 14 hour days and not seeing my family.

I know I am missing so much...but a few replies that I can think of..

Cheryl...so sorry about your mom. Please keep us posted.

Steph..what a great idea to make small cards. I was worried about getting really confused during this trip..that will help!

Jane...sorry about the biting incident. We've been few that a few times in daycare as well. I'm sure he will be just fine.

Beth...that soooo sucks about your filling! But we still have several days to go so hopefully you will be pain free by the time we get there. And if not, there are lots of things on the "soft" side. It will be ok!

I know I'm missing a ton...I'm sooo not prepared yet. But I got my photopass and pizza party money off in the mail and was able to sneak out at a reasonable time from work yesterday to try to find lime green and red shirts. I came close I think. Still no brown or teal...oh well! And I have yet to find a tote so I may just sit that one out. I've got a tink shirt ready to go and a tiara so at least I am somewhat prepared. Now I just need to think about packing!!

5 more days!!

You nut you! What am I going to do with you. Well, I just hope it fits. Think I can lose 15 lbs in 6 days? :confused3 If not, I'll be owing you a new tee! :flower3:
(Thank you sweetie. I do appreciate it.)

Personally, I think you'll swim in it, but I went with what size you said you wear. I guess even if it is too big, at least it'll be comfortable. And you won't owe me a thing. It's a gift for my friend.:thumbsup2

I am so mad at my dentist. I had some fillings done last week and one of them was hurting me so bad. I couldn't eat anything but "mushy" things. So I went in yesterday and basically when they filled it, they didn't file it down properly so I was pushing right on the filling with each bite.

Anyway, they filed it down and said it should be fine now, BUT that it might continue to hurt for another 1-2 weeks!! Ugh. I can't chew on one side because I have no teeth bottom molars there from the extractions and now the other side is sore and painful. :sad2:

So I've got to check what meals I have planned and try to find things on the menu that I can actually chew. I'm not sure if I should keep my spot at Blue Bayou. I don't know what to order there that is soft. :confused3 I wanted to eat there for the atmosphere, but if I can't eat what's the point.
Ugh, I'm so annoyed. :headache:

Well that's crummy about your filling. I hope it starts to feel better very soon.....much sooner than another 1-2 weeks!

I say stick with getting dessert or something soft at the BB.....they have good gumbo there, and the portobello mushroom and couscous dish sounds good too. Heck, all I was going to eat there myself was some gumbo and/or dessert.....something easy and light, so it's easy on the pocketbook and leaves room in my tummy for dinner at the CC.:goodvibes

I just wanted to let you know that have a small memento for each DL Diva as a keepsake from the trip. It's something tiny that scrapbookers might especially enjoy. Be sure to get one from me sometime during the weekend. :goodvibes

Awwww, you're so sweet!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got off the phone a little bit ago with my BFF. Her DD is out of surgery and is doing well. The surgeon said it went better than they thought it was going to go. The next 24 hours are critical, but the docs have said that everything should go as planned. BFF and her DH are exhausted. One will be staying in the room with the baby, and the other will be staying in the Ronald McDonald house. They also have a 22 month old who is staying with their parents.

Thank you to everyone who prayed and sent good wishes. The family is grateful and thanks you. Please keep them in your thoughts as they go through the recovery now.

I'm so happy to hear the surgery went well. I'll most definitely keep them in my thoughts and prayers.:thumbsup2

I have not dumped Sunday's room.

Oh Cheryl, I'm just so sorry this happened! I wish I could be there to help you somehow, even if it's to hold your hand during your mom's surgery. I'll pray for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for your mom. Hopefully you'll both get the chance for a do-over trip soon. You poor babe, I'm sure you're exhausted. BIG HUGS FOR YOU!!!

I wanted to let you all know I'm trying to make cards that will have our daily schedules on them this way we all don't have to carry lots of papers through the parks. My idea is to make the cards double sided and then punch a whole in them so we can put them on our lanyards.

So I'm working on shrinking down the daily schedules from the first page. Let me know if you all are interested in this so I can make one for everyone going.

Steph

That's so cool of you Steph! I'd love to have one. You're awesome!:cheer2:

Hey all! I've been thinking about how to save my zazzle shirt from the trash and have been thinking about cutting it. I found this website, and I really like it! Custom Cut T-Shirt:banana: I have my t shirt in the wash now to preshrink it, and then I'm going to cut it! Woohoo! :yay:

I LOVE this idea. It looks so cute. :cheer2:

I hate those big, tight collars on some t-shirts.....and those loooooonger sleeves that are supposed to be short sleeves.

I used to do this to my shirts all the time when I was in high school. (An idea I borrowed from the movie "Flashdance" - hahaha!)

I'd love a schedule card. Thanks!

I know! Also, since it's a men's shirt, it comes to my knees. I can cut it to a length that looks ok on me! I'm so happy to revisit the 80's!

I loved Flashdance BTW, you're making me want to watch it again!

What a feeling! ba-da-ta-ta-ta It's believing! da-duh-ta-ta-ta Sing with me folks! :rolleyes1

I will pick up a box from the post office for the person that wanted it and bring to the pizza party. (added) I PM'd you.

Cheryl, I just had chills when I read your story. I could definitely feel what you were going through and I'm so sorry. I hope your mom has a good recovery.

Happy Birthday Debra!

I have flown recently - they don't care about anything but very sharp things and liquids. Don't forget and put a bottle of water in a carry on (as I did). You'll be taking your shoes off.

it's good to have a separate ziplock bag for the trip home in case you lose yours. If you are like me and have to have your special shampoo, be sure you triple bag it carefully because I've had those dreaded shampoo explosions.

And always have your meds in your carry on. In fact, I try to pack in such a way that if they lose my checked luggage, I have the most important things. (I did get my bag stolen once). Don't wait to pick up your baggage (I did, we waited for a friend on a different flight for about 20 min), because they don't check the luggage tags here as you leave.

Okay, sorry, I'm not even a mommy and I went into mommy mode....

(btw, in case it's confusing, I changed my avatar last night - used to be Ariel)

I remember Beth saying that they said they would change everyone over without needing to call... So it might already be done!
Nope, you do have to call and ask for it, but since the rest of our group has it, even though it's not listed, I'm sure Lorealle will add it. Or she can bunk with Stacie and Heather, or myself and January as Capri is leaving on Sunday. (good idea Callie!) :thumbsup2

I just wanted to let you know that have a small memento for each DL Diva as a keepsake from the trip. It's something tiny that scrapbookers might especially enjoy. Be sure to get one from me sometime during the weekend. :goodvibes
You are so sweet to do this! I love little mementos like that to add to photo albums and such.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got off the phone a little bit ago with my BFF. Her DD is out of surgery and is doing well.
Fabulous news!! :)

How nice of you to offer to do this! I won't need one as I'm going to have tons of paperwork anyway. LOL I'm keeping all the lists with me for tours, meals, etc. but I'm sure many others who only need the schedule will love this.

THANKS FOR ALL OF THE BIRTHDAY WISHES!!.
Here's another one!
Happy-Birthday-.gif

It's a gift for my friend.:thumbsup2
Thank you. :flower3:

That looks so cool! I wonder if it would work on the martini shirts... I might just have to try it. And that's a turquoise/blue shirt that I could wear on Monday... hmm, I'll let you all know how it works, in case you're interested.

Is there anyone local who is able to stop by a post office and bring a small box flat rate USPS box for me?? :flower3:

I have a whole stack here at my house but they aren't small, do you still want one?

What a great idea! I don't like how mine fits at all either - I might try this. :thumbsup2 My plan right now is to try to shrink it a bit and wear it knotted at the waist. Then after the trip give it to my 11 yr old for a nightshirt!:rotfl:
I really need to try it on again and decide :confused3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBRA!

Can't wait to meet you on Thursday. I think I told you I added your name to the room reservations - if not, I just did! ;)
Feel free to check in and ask for two room keys. When I get there Thursday evening I will head to the Meeting Hall to join everyone at the party!:cool1: I will find you there! :thumbsup2

Cheryl,
So sorry about your mom. Please don't feel bad about it happening. It could have happened anywhere. It is actually a good thing you WERE there and she wasn't alone!

OK, you'd think I've never flown before with all of my questions! I always check everything through, so this carry on thing is throwing me.

Do I have to put lipstick/lipgloss/chapstick in my baggie? Is it considered a gel or liquid? It seems like I remember sometime somewhere, where I got in trouble for having chapstick in my pocket. (I'm addicted, I've even told DH to make sure I'm buried with a tube! )

I'm starting a t-shirt cutting revolution! Why don't you all do it first, and let me know how it goes and if you have any tips! :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

Lipgloss, probably yes, lipstick & chapstick, no. I've never put them in my ziploc. This is what I usually have in my bag: shampoo, conditioner, face cleanser, face toner, daytime face moisturizer, nighttime face moisturizer, sanitizer, hand lotion, lip gloss, hair gel/mousse, hair spray, is that it? I feel like I'm forgetting something. Like I said, my bag is usually FULL! And you can only have 1 bag, and it has to be 1-quart size, no bigger.

As for the t-shirts, uh, no. You're the guinea pig for this one, YOU let us know how it goes.

(btw, in case it's confusing, I changed my avatar last night - used to be Ariel)
I hope you're not one of those who is always changing their sig and avatar.....:sad2:

:rolleyes1

I cut a tee of Noelle's into a v-neck for her 80's Halloween costume. I cut the sleeves shorter too. It turned out great. I'd only suggest using very sharp scissors. Other then that it was easy. :confused3
