Good morning ladies!

This weekend has been a nightmare. I hope you all don't mind me sharing with you.

Yesterday, after we came home from playing at the park, Maddie passed out and was unresponsive. We called 911 and the paramedics came with the fire department. They were working on her and she finally started coming around. She eyes were open but there was no response. She was pale and her lips were blue. I thought she was dying. I cannot explain what I was feeling. I literally thought she was gone. Thank goodness my parents and brother were there with us. I don't think I could have handled it. Brent was sobbing. I had never seen my husband cry like that.

We got to the hospital and they immediately started testing her. They had her hooked up to an IV and did an EKG, CAT scan, a lung x-ray, blood test and urine. After being there for about an hour, she was starting to get her normal look bad. Her cheeks were rosy and she was watching iCarly. She kept saying she was hungry. We were so happy. She wanted to go home. We were baffled. Just an hour before that she was so sickly.

The doctor told us she has a heart murmur and her white blood cell count is high. He didn't seem too concerned about it though. She had pnuemonia that had gone unnoticed. She has been sick...I just thought it was a cold. I feel like the WORST mom ever. Everything came back great on the CAT scan.

They kept her for four more hours just to make sure she was okay to go home. She has been fine since. We have to take her to her primary doctor first thing Monday morning.

If you all don't mind...could you please just say a prayer for her. It would really mean a lot to me.:flower3:

Oh Momma! I don't even know what to say. How scared you must be. I will be praying as hard as I can for her and you and your whole family. I'm glad that she's acting better now, and I hope you get more answers. Hang in there, and if you need anything please let us know.

I will keep Maddie in my thoughts and prayers.
I will keep your entire family also.
I hope you have a better day today than yesterday.

OH January, I am so sorry!! I can't even imagine how scared you all were. I hope she gets well real soon. Antibiotics usually turn that around pretty quickly in children. You will all be in my prayers.

January - that must have been so scary for you! I'm glad Maddie is feeling better now. Don't feel like a bad mom. It's sometimes hard to know if it's "just a cold" or could be something else. I will definitely keep her in our prayers.

You all are just too sweet! Thanks so much! I am a huge believer in prayer. I know that it helps.

She is on the couch watching Madagascar 2 with her daddy while I try to get some school work done. She seems a thousand times better.

Stacie and Heather...you all are in the medical field, right? Are heart murmurs a big deal? The doctor didn't seem to think it was. He was also in a busy ER on a Saturday night.;)

I really appreciate the responses to my post. It really means a lot to me. :flower3:

Omigosh January--I'm not even a Mom and I can't imagine the terror of what you went through. You all are certainly in my prayers and thoughts. And don't feel like the "worst" Mom--I have a friend who gets pneumonia a lot and you really can't tell--it's just a cold--until all of a sudden he gets very sick.

One question--I know there's a pneumonia shot that they give adults, is there one for kids? Just so you can help avoid this in the future?

Oh sweetie, that sounds so scarey! I'll keep Maddie, you, and Brent in my prayers for sure!

Beth, you inspired me today. DH and I went and got pedicures today.
And, Riley had semi-finals in his basketball tourney today, and he lost in overtime by 3 points! :(
Then DH and I went to dinner at Old Spaghetti Factory for a friend's bday and then we went out (adults only) for extreme bowling. We won 4 free games between us! :cool1: And, DH got two Turkeys! I didn't kow he had it in him.
Sounds like a fun day!

Good news....my hair didn't fall out and I didn't burn my scalp. And the color looks pretty good too. The real test will be tomorrow in natural light.
Good job!

Oh, January, I'm sorry to hear this. How scary that must have been for you! I'm glad to hear your girl is feeling better today. I'm sure it will be a relief for you after you see her normal doc tomorrow.

January, I can't even begin to fathom what you went through this weekend and of course you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

You, Brent and Maddie are all troopers, so you will get through this and one day it will be one of the "interesting" stories you tell her and maybe even your grandkids about when their mommy was little.

But in the moment, what a nightmare! I know that we all worry so much about being a good parent and making sure that we don't end up missing something huge, but you've got to follow your mother radar and if it didn't seem serious until yesterday, then you cannot beat yourself up for missing it.

Hang in there and hold her extra tight today even if she doesn't realize what all the fuss is about!

Beth, you can't beat a good pedi! I very rarely get my hair done, but I try to get a pedi every 3-6 weeks, depending on finances. It just makes me so happy to look down and see cute toes!
I'll be wearing sneakers. They hide ugly feet quite nicely. :rotfl:
I'm glad your mom and you will join us. So I guess that makes six.....I think. Myself, January, Sarah, Heather, you and your mom. I think I got that right. So who ever gets there first, try to save some spots. :thumbsup2

Glad to have inspired you. lol Sorry about Riley's game. I love the Spaghetti Factory. We always have to try and eat there when we are in CA.

So what does your tiara look like?
Silver and sparkly. :rotfl: It's hard to describe. I'll try to take a pic later on.

OMG, January!! Oh hon, I am so sorry you went through that. I can't even imagine. :grouphug: I'm glad you weren't home alone with her, (I would have panicked) and I'm so glad to hear she seems fine now.

I don't know anything about heart murmurs but I do know you are NOT a bad mom. I've seen you with Maddie so I can say this for a fact. She is lucky to have a mom who loves her so much.
I think any one of us would have just assumed it was a cold. I know I would have.

I hope the doctor has some advice for you on how to handle this situation now that you are aware of it. I will absolutely say a prayer for you, Brent and Maddie. Please keep in touch here and let us know how things go and what they tell you.
In the meantime, hang in there mom. It's going to be ok.

January....My heart is with you. It is every parents worst nightmare to all of a sudden have something so very wrong with a child. Thank goodness she will be alright. I have had issues with my kids and MRSA. Luckily both cases were treatable with antibiotics but with Ryder's we were in the hospital for 4 days thinking cancer before they figured out what it was. I am so glad the hospital you were at did so many tests. What a relief to know what it is and to be able to go forward from there with learning about it and figuring out how to take care of her with the condition she has. If it helps even a little, my mother had a hole in her heart undiagnosed from birth. She finally found out about it after having 2 kids and they were able to do surgery and fix it. She is fine now. I am sure Maddie will be fine. She has great parents after all, and that helps tremendously. Thinking of you and praying for you and your family.

Boy you guys think 6 lbers are big LOL I had a 9 lb 6 oz baby and an 8 lb 4 ozer.

I was 10 9 myself. My poor mother. She is only 5'2". And she had my naturally. I don't know how she did it. But back then they didn't induce people like they do now and she kept not going into labor. I was due the very end of april and was not born till June 3rd if that tells you anything. I was WAY late and the stupid doctor should have gotten malpractice. In fact he almost killed me getting me out. I had these HUGE bruises from the forceps he used it was ridiculous and my mom had like 200 stitches. It was ridiculous!

Luckily in MY day they figured it out and I was only a week late with Katy but she was still almost 10 lbs but they were smart enough to do a c section but she was still HUGE! So I opted for the scheduled C with Shelby. I had her at 39 weeks and she was still 8/4 but they said if I had gone late with her like I did with Katy she would have probalby been 10 lbs. EEK!

Anyway I worked for part of the day today and then rented a few movies. I rented that movie the changling which was good I thought but sad and then I rented an older one called the visitor which I also liked. It was about a guy who was a professor who had two people that had kind of illegally moved into his apartment but then he let them stay and he got to be friends with them and they were illegal immigrants. It was pretty good. And then I rented Body of Lies but am going to watch that tomorrow when Shane is home.

Then the girls and I just watch HSM3. LOVE those! Nothing planned for this weekend.

Can't believe their vacation is over already. That was a quick week! Back to the old routine again on Monday. Gotta run to Sam's club tomorrow to get groceries but otherwise just hangin out.

Talk to you all tomorrow. :)

How funny, my ds was 9lbs 4 oz and my dd was 8lbs 6 oz. She looked so small after him.

Sarah

So I have most of my things packed and ready to go...which is good since my suitcase is full. I just need to put my makeup in and pack my purse and I am set. I can't believe we are 11 days out. Pretty soon it will be single digits! Too crazy! I am getting really excited. I only have 8 more days of work before it is time to go! I have started printing out my lists to bring with me like things I want to do and schedule and flight confo and shuttle confo and hotel confo, etc. 264 hours till we are there!!!!

Lots of prayers and good wishes for complete health to your baby girl. I'm so sorry to hear this happened and just can't imagine going through that. It is my biggest fear. Thank heavens everyone is OK. Sending lots of pixie dust for everything to be perfectly fine. :wizard:

Okay, this is a dumb question, but I need to know....

.....is everyone wearing real tiaras, like the kind made of metal with rhinestones, or are you getting the party kind of tiaras that are more like plastic with splarkly plastic jewels?:confused3

January, hugs and prayers for your little girl. I hope she's doing LOTS better today.

Just another drive-by hi from me. I leave for CA a week from today! EEEK!

Again, thanks for the thoughts and prayers.:grouphug:

She seems much better. She was just busted jumping on her bed.
