That's exciting! I will definitely be there at opening because I'll be local and I don't have school on Fridays!

Good Afternoon everyone .

That's for all the birthday wishes :lovestruc. I went to Disneyland & got my birthday fun card & all I bought myself was a lemon cupcake. I spent the rest of the card on my niece & kids. I've never been good at buying myself stuff.

The kicker is that my BIL called me in the morning to see if I wanted to come over and help watch my nephews while my sister was at work. UM NO, it's my birthday and I'm going to Disneyland!!

Beth- I'm so glad you conquered your fears and went swimming!!! It sounds like you all had a blast.

Steph- I hope your ankle gets fixed soon & you're pain free. Keep us updated.

Mel- Space Mountain for Halloween sounds awesome. I'm going to have to google that to see if I can get more details. :thumbsup2

Hi and hugs to everyone else. Looking forward to seeing some of you ladies next week for Bridgette's b-day.

Beth - So glad you guys had such a fun time. And I wanted to mention I love the pretty blue blouse you are wearing in the Vegas pics. It is very cute and light blue looks really good on you.;)
Thanks. :flower3:

Been there, done that. I didn't think it was too bad, but then maybe I don't remember... it was a few years ago, which means it's probably getting close to time again!!
When is the first time you should have one done?
And has anyone had a bone density test? I'm thinking while I'm at it, I might as well add more tests to worry about. :rotfl:

So I DEF feel you guys pain and I am NOT happy about having to do it again. But as bad as the colonoscopy is going to be I think the BE was worse!
Good grief! That's just nuts. Maybe I won't schedule one after all. :scared1:

That is so cute about Noelle's comment to you. Now doesn't that just make the "swimsuit" so worth it?:cloud9: I also have a feeling that Rueben probably liked it too!!! :rolleyes1
::yes:: to both. :)

Very cool!! Too bad I don't ride that. :rotfl2: But anything Halloween-ish is good.

Sometimes in life all you need is a cupcake. :goodvibes

Hi everyone!!

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Ruben had to work today since he took time off during the week, so we are all just chilling.

Talk to y'all later. :)

I don't think you have to worry about either one yet. I think they like to see you around 50 or so. Someone else may pipe up and clarify this if you like!

Very cool!! Too bad I don't ride that. :rotfl2: But anything Halloween-ish is good.
Come on Beth!!! You are far too young not to do SM!!! I'll hold your hand. How about that?

Chilling is good on hot days. As you can tell that is what I am doing at the moment!
Dave and Kaitlyn went to go see Transformers.

Afternoon all! Well I am really excited. I am back from our last reg meet and it went REALLY well!

First off I have been asking them to put Katy in the butterfly and Shelby in the breakstroke ALL season. They told me to write letters to the coaches which I DID not once but TWICE and then they told us that if your child hadn't swam a certain stroke yet by this meet that they HAD to to qualify for champs. Every child must swim every stroke at LEAST once during the season to qualify to swim it at champs because they swim EVERY event at champs. So last night we got a copy of the program and they DID put SHelby in the breast but NO butterfly for Katy. I was livid. We went to practice and Shane talked to the coach and she said it was a mistake and they would fix it today but I still e-mailed the president of our team. She apologized and they fixed it.

Well both girls were only supposed to swim in 4 events but then they added Katy to the medley relay. She has swam the back stroke leg a few times and butterfly once and today they had her swim the freestyle leg which is the anchor or last leg of 4. Her team did AWESOME. In fact they were even in first place at first but then the middle breast and butterfly swimmers were not quite as fast but Katy sewed up 3rd place!! :)

Then Shelby swam the 25 free and it was REALLY close. She got 4th but did it in 21 seconds which she significantly lowered her time! Then both girls swam back stroke and Katy lowered her time but Shelby didn't but they both still got 2nd!!

Then they both swam the breast and the best part was after ALL this time of them not letting Shelby swim it when she begged to, this is her BEST and favorite stroke, she not only got FIRST place but won it by a landslide. There was no one else even NEAR her!!!

She also dropped her time by like 9 seconds!! Then Katy swam it and took 5th but she also dropped her time quite a bit. She was bummed that she took 5th but that is her worst stroke and for her that was really good!

THEN Katy swam the butterfly and once AGAIN she not only took 1st place but won it by a landslide! Just like Shelby there was NO ONE even near her when she came in. AND she dropped her time as well. It was SUCH a great feeling to show those coaches that they REALLY screwed up by not letting them swim those strokes this season!

Anyway then they both were scheduled to swim in the free relay but I was REALLY disgusted because Shelby does very well in the free but a few people on her team were absent so they stuck her with the WORST swimmers on the team. So they took 8th place. I was REALLY bummed for her cuz she SOOO didn't deserve to be stuck with these slow pokes. She was pretty upset as well. And then they scratched Katy altogether so she didn't get to swim it at all. But overall it was an AWESOME meet.

So now all we have left is championships next weekend which is brutal (2 very LONG days) but exciting. IF they place in the top ten of any one event they can go to Meet of Champs. So we are hoping for the best. Last year Katy's relay team missed it by 1!

Anyway I hope everyone else is having a GREAT day and hope you have a good rest of the weekend. We just have church tomorrow and rest hopefully! :)

Depends on your family history. My dad had colon cancer and my maternal grandmother had colon cancer so I had my first one done about 4 years ago (I was 42). I'm not sure if I'm supposed to have one done again after 5 or 10 years, guess I better ask next month.

Never had the bone density test done. When am I supposed to get that one done? I just had a bunch of blood work done, cholesterol, hormones, stuff like that. Now I'm taking testosterone. And NO I'm not turning into Michael Jackson!!!

Testosterone or estrogen? Testesterone is given for lack of desire usually. :rolleyes1 Estrogen for "v" dryness and sleep problems. :headache:

Stacie is right. Most colonoscopys are not "routinely" scheduled till you are at least 50. In MY particular case I have Irritable Bowel issues and lots of other nasty issues related to my colon and so I have been so lucky to have had to had these a few times. But if you don't have a family history of issues or are having any "abnormal" problems like myself then you shouldn't need a routine screening till at least 50 so I certainly wouldn't put yourself through that until you absolutely HAVE to if you know what I mean. And I am sure your doc will tell you the same thing. ;)

Fun! That's what we're doing too. My Dad worked this morning, so he's napping and my Mom and I are watching Bridezillas.

I always thought it was 50. As soon as my parent's turned 50, they went and had theirs done. Unless you have some sort of issues (like Kelly, my coworker had one too a couple months ago and she's only 28) then the doc will tell you to have one before 50. I asked my Mom right now and she said every 10 years, unless they find something suspicious you have to go more often. :confused3

Yep, over 50 and then every ten years. That's what we were told, too.
Courtney, you are such a sweet child to know what your parents have done. I doubt my DD could tell you what procedures I have or have not had. What is a bone density test for? It makes me think Osteoporosis (spelling), surely you are way too young for that, Beth?

Katie, I love the lemon cupcakes. I had one last time.:lovestruc

We ran some errands today and are now just hanging out. We are grilling bratwurst for dinner. BAD, I know, but we only have them (or hot dogs) a couple of times a year, so I relish them!

I am super excited for the Space Halloween overlay. Let's do a group ride together and compare notes, ok? Wait, that's the other Diva thread. Oh well. I'm sure no one cares, right?;)

I even more excited cause I booked Paradise Pier concierge level for our Sept trip. We have never stayed concierge before, it was always too much (even when DD worked there). It's only $179 a night! We are staying three nights, the last being our anniversary. So, Breezy stays with us the first two nights and is booted out the last.;)

Testosterone. The doctor sent my prescription to a compounding pharmacy so it was made for my low level. It's also supposed to help sleep problems. The normal level is supposed to be 60-150 and mine was 37.

Good evening ladies!!!

Hope is having a wonderful day. Me and kids are just waiting for our dinner to arrive. Gotta love the pizza man. Its just too hot to cook. <--- that's is my story and I am sticking to it.

Well your DH might have to kick it up a notch to keep up with you!! :lovestruc

Hi ladies.
Happy Birthday Katie & Sarah.

Beth sounds like the girls had a great birthday.

Jordan had his birthday party today. There is so much food left. Goodness I am glad Val is having a little get together at her house tomorrow afternoon. Or my kids would be eating on it all week.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hello friends!

Today has been a trying day.

First, I was woken up by my dad who told me that Osita had, somehow, escaped from the backyard. So I go up our street (because she normally goes up there when she escapes) and I see her go into a neighbor's yard. This neighbor is the original owner of the house and bought the lot next to her house because they wanted more yard space. So I think "This should be easy" because the whole area is fenced in. I approach Osita and she goes running up their little hill. I call her, jingle the leash and even call "comida" (food in Spanish) because she will usually come if a treat is promised. Even food wouldn't bring her down! Apparently she found a whole in the fence and went to an unfenced area of brush and I think she is going towards the freeway! :scared1:

It takes me 30 minutes, or more, to find her. In the process, I pulled over on the 14 freeway and went searching for her in the brush. Nope. After driving through every little side street in the neighborhood, I spot her in someone's front yard. I, so enthusiastic and excited, call her to the car and she hops in. FINALLY.

I arrive home and I tell Diana, my older sister, that if she puts Osita in the backyard she needs to chain her to the long lead because she escaped and I don't even know how so it could happen again while we were getting ready for work. I shower, have breakfast and leave for work.

I come home around 5:30 and my dad tells me that Osita had gotten out AGAIN. This time she followed my dad out the side gate. Diana pursues Osita in her car. My dad is fixing my mom's van's side mirror at this point but as soon as he was done went out looking for Osita as well. He drives all over one side of our neighborhood and doesn't find Diana's car. He comes home to see if by chance she had already caught the dog and was back home. Nope. The phone is blinking and my dad listens to the voice messages. There are three and they are of Diana crying and screaming in frustation because she thinks that my parents are home and are just not answering the phone. She was even more frustrated because these people in our neighborhood (I won't even give them the name neighbor because neighbors are helpful & friendly) see she is crying and trying to chase this incredibly fast STUPID dog (I know Osita is a dog and has no rational thinking but we are just PISSED  at this point) even when she goes onto their property. They don't even say a word or bat a lash.

She FINALLY succeeds in catching Osita while Osita is playing with another dog. She then proceeds to bring her home where she sees my dad walking down the hills with a leash as he continues searching for Osita. My dad is ready to seriously punish the dog with a few good whacks to the nalgas (butt) but Diana won't let him. She just holds her and chains her up to the staircase banister.

:headache::mad::scared1::scared:

Sometimes I feel we weren't meant to have a dog :sad2:

I told my dad that in addition to fixing the concrete wall in the corner of our yard that we need to install some sort of invisible fence as an extra precaution because if we leave Osita outside too long without checking up on her she, like a mischevious kid, will squeeze herself past the crack in the wall and some tree branches to find some other dogs to hassle.

Wow, that was like a novel. Sorry, I just needed to vent.

I really worry what will happen when I move out.

What is a bone density test for? It makes me think Osteoporosis (spelling), surely you are way too young for that, Beth?
I don't know. I do know I don't get much calcium and drink way too much soda. :confused3 And when I went to the doc they asked me if I'd had one of those tests yet, and I said no. It made me wonder if maybe I should, so I'm going to ask next time I see her, which is in two weeks.

I am glad to hear that "other" test can be put off for awhile. lol

Sounds like the party went well. :)

It's been quiet here this weekend. Hopefully everyone is having a good weekend so far. Talk to ya'll tomorrow.

Morning all. Cristabel I am so sorry for all the troubles you are having with your pup. I agree you better get it fixed because when I had my dogs in my first marriage they were like my children. They came in the house and slept in our beds but during the day they were outside while we were at work. We fixed our fences over and over but they kept digging out. They got out several times and "luckily" we lived in a good neighborhood where the neighbors held them for us since we were always at work when they got out.

But then we moved to Washington and the FIRST time they got out someone shot them and killed our one dog and shot my other dog three times. She was NEVER the same after that. I am not saying that would happen to your dog there in LA but she could get hit by a car or something and I know you wouldn't want that to happen. I hope you guys can get your fence fixed and I agree the idea of maybe one of those electric fences or something might work. We love our pets so much and would hate for anything to happen to them. ((hugs)) and I hope you get it all worked out!! :)

Beth I am glad you don't need the colonoscopy and I have not been told I need a bone density test either and don't know what it entails and I am older than you are but then perhaps they think it is necessary based on blood tests or such. I know I just had a blood panel done and they said my calcium was a little low but my doc did not recommend anything. Hopefully that is not a test that is any big deal if you DO need to do it. ;)

I tell you all these things we must endure as we get older sheesh! ;)

Anyway last night it was nice to come home and relax after the meet and not be TOTALLY wiped out. I didn't work as an age group parent for the first time and it was SO nice. I was able to sit in the stands and just WATCH my kids swim. Then when they were done we left. It was great. And the same thing is going to happen at champs! It will be nice cuz those are going to be some LONG days! I must admit I am glad that swim is almost over. It has been a long year. Although it figues cuz it is just NOW getting exciting LOL. If they had only let them swim their strokes! Oh well!

Anyway last night Lynn wanted to go on a "date" which was kind of weird to us. She was crying how much she was in "love" with the guy who had just dumped her and yet she has been home 2 days and already going on a date. And she told Shane she wanted to kiss the guy before she even left. I don't know. Plus yesterday at the meet the outfit she had on. UGH! Let's just say it was pretty bad!! VERY revealing. It is so hard for me to just sit back and keep my mouth shut. She told us she had an interview and then magically when she got there it was "cancelled". She wants to go hang out with a friend AGAIN today and I told Shane that I just don't want her thinking that we are her personally taxi service and that EVERY weekend we are going to be ferrying her all over town. WE have a life too and she has to abide by OUR schedule and not expect us to cater to her all the time. She was gone for over 6 months and she can't just come back and turn everything upside down. Plus I told him she needs to NOT worry about her friends right now and concentrate on getting her diploma and a job! She supposedly had someone who was going to send her the paperwork from her schooling and then it didn't happen. Now she is back to having to get a ride to go get it and she has quite a few packets left to do and it is ALL due by the 23rd or she doesn't graduate. I am pretty skeptical to say the least. And I know finding a job is NOT going to be as easy as she thinks because I know that she needs a work permit since she is under 18 and I don't know how she is going to go about that since she is not in a regular school and also there are SO many people out of work that it is REALLY tough to get ANY job right now. And she really doesn't have any experience because she can't list her McDonald's job because they are giving her a BAD reference because she got fired.

So it shall be interesting. I don't know what is going to happen but it also hinges on what happens at the probation hearing on Tues as well. I guess we shall see.

Anyway today we have church, feed my parents animals and the grocery store and then just hanging out. Then tomorrow I have work, Tues Lynn's hearing, wed my therapist, nothing Thurs and Friday work. So not TOO bad of a week and it is the LAST week of swim practice!! Then the big meet this weekend!!

Hope everyone has a good day today! Take care and talk later! :)
