*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Good morning girls!

We went to the movie for the first time in months yesterday and say The Proposal and Hangover. Both were pretty funny, and we had a gift card, so that made it even better!

Today I am making pies to put in the freezer with my sis in law, and then later we are going to the American Idol concert.

I hope you all have a great Sunday!

Beth: the bone density test is no biggie at all. I had my first one about the age you are.....at that time, you stick your bare foot into a machine & that was it. I had a full body one done last year (part of the physical I needed for the adoptions). You lay on the table (with clothes on) & a machine scans over the top of you.

They were amazed that a person that smokes, drinks only soda & lactose intolerant didn't have the worse looking bones ever.......lol The gal kept saying....WOW you're bones are doing great. The only thing negative discovered by it was I lost an inch in height.

The colonoscopy is just plain gross.....if you don't have to do this for medical reasons......don't. The meds you have to drink are nasty & the rest........you know what I mean is miserable.

Sometimes I think doctors think of tests to send people off to....like they get a commission for every test they refer to. If medical reasons warrant a further look, then by all means have it done....but if they want it done just to make sure everything looks good.....I tend to skip it. I can't afford to send their kids to college & pay for their month long vacations.

To everyone else....hope you're having a good weekend!! We're spending a quiet day at home (as quiet as a home can be with 4 loud kiddos). :rotfl:

Oh, I hope poor Cheryl is okay. Is anyone maybe with her? Has anyone acutally talked to her today? I know she's a strong, professional woman and all, but you know......I'm just worried about her since I haven't seen her post anything since this morning. I'm sure she's just heartbroken. :sad1:

Capri--thanks for your sweet thoughts (and the sweet thoughts and wishes of everyone else too). Sorry I haven't checked in and you all were worried--my Internet connection at home wasn't working until about an hour ago (when the technician left!) and I haven't been in the office because my friends were visiting.

So, I really haven't had time to miss Chase much--and the other two animals have kept me hopping anyway! Thursday my Mom came over and she and my college roomie and roomie's DD went to see Star Trek and have dinner at a Japanese teppan house (where they cook on the grill in front of you like Benihana). Then we came home, played some with Bella and got stuff ready for the next day. The next morning we got up, showered and dressed and left Mom at home with Bella (and the caregiver) and took off for Disneyland! We checked into the Grand Cal--of course our room wasn't ready, and went into Calif. Adventure about 9:45 a.m. We picked up fastpasses for Soarin, then headed over and rode Toy Story Mania. Then I was hungry (no breakfast) so we went to Bountiful Farms (where they now have corndogs). My friends weren't hungry but they were thirsty. We then went and rode Heimlich's Choo Choo and then we were thirsty so we had a Tinkerbell twist. Next up was Monster's Inc. Then we did the Animation Academy twice. (DD loves to draw!)

My friends were hungry then so we went back to Bountiful Farms so they could get corndogs. Then our Fastpass was ready for Soarin. After that it was 2 p.m. already and our room was ready so we went up, got our luggage and rested for a couple of hours. Then we had dinner at Storyteller's and went to Disneyland. I had to pick up our tickets for Fantasmic (we were doing premium seating) so my friends went on Pirates and Haunted Mansion while I stood in line. then there was just enough time to hit the loo and line up to be seated. Our seats were great and the show was fantastic (but no dragon). After that my friends had gotten fastpasses for Indiana Jones--so I headed back to get ready for bed and they came in about 45 minutes later.

The next morning we got up and they got ready very fast to make Magic Morning. Unfortunately, they didn't use it to the best advantage but oh well. I stayed behind to get our luggage picked up. Then I renewed my annual pass and met up with them. We sorta criss-crossed the park a few times (I could imagine some of you getting rather frustrated at this point--and so was I)--but it was the 10-year old's trip so we did what she wanted. We did some shopping, pin trading, rode Pirates, Haunted Mansion and Buzz (they had already ridden a few things) and then hopped over to DCA. We went first to Whitewater Snacks and had lunch, picking up fastpasses for Soarin again. After lunch we shopped and then they rode Soarin (I was too tired) and all too soon it was time to leave and take them to the airport. Then I came home, rested a few minutes, jumped in the shower and got dressed to go to my friend's 50th birthday party. (She was Chase's original Mom.) Got home 11-ish last night and got up early in case the cable guy showed up early today. So, needless to say, I'm tired!

Ok, who told the Tag Fairy to change my tag??????

hey--I've been offline

Oh Kelly, you poor thing!
Yes, the prep was the worst. And the starvation. DH had normal dinner on Wed. Starting Thurs - only clear liquids - basically he had Sprite and Chicken broth, and spent all afternoon/evening in the loo (as Theresa would say:laughing:). Fri - NOTHING - not even water! His procedure was at 11 am and he is an early riser. He said Fri from 5-11 am was the worst cause he was so dehydrated and starving...plus nervous about the procedure. So he basically had no food/coffee for 38 hours! When I brewed coffee Thurs morn, he was ok with it - just drank his water. When I brewed coffee Fri morn he yelled/whined like a child "turn that damn thing off, the smell is killing me!!!" I felt so bad for him. Oh, and he lost 8 pounds so now I offically weigh more than he does by three pounds. NICE!:headache:

See, I didn't think it was that bad. But I did stop eating "heavy" foods a day or two before the procedure based on a friend's advice so maybe that helped. (I.e, chicken instead of meat)

Thanks. :flower3:

When is the first time you should have one done?
And has anyone had a bone density test? I'm thinking while I'm at it, I might as well add more tests to worry about. :rotfl:

Good grief! That's just nuts. Maybe I won't schedule one after all. :scared1:

Sometimes in life all you need is a cupcake. :goodvibes

You have time --first test (unless there is something suspicious before then) is at 50

Hi Ladies!! :cool1:

Linda - Thanks! I think the only reason why I know is because I'm nosey and I ask why and what for everytime I hear my parents say they have a doctor's appointment.

Cristabel - I'm sorry about Osita. Dogs are children and sometimes they can be frustrating. Is there anything else you guys can do to keep her from getting out again?

Kelly - I pray for you and Shane about Lynn. I really hope things get better with her.

Hi ladies. Just a quickie from me right now. My computer is running excruciatingly slow and it's annoying me to no end right now. I was going to post some pics of the twins b-day but I can't even get photobucket to open. It all freezes on me. Grrr.

Anyway, maybe later. Take care all!!

Hi Beth - I am in the same boat as you. DH is taking our computer to "the computer guy" tomorrow because it is running sooo slow and freezes and turns itself off. It has been doing it a couple of times a day and is so annoying. We just can't stand it anymore.:headache: So, unless I can figure out how to connect Little Lulu (my little pink Acer that Santa brought me;)) to our internet, I will be without a computer for at least a few days. Of course, I sneak on for a few minutes at lunch time at work.

Cheryl, it sure sounds like you and your friends had a great weekend. Wasn't it kind of hot? It's been 99 here two days in a row. Too hot to go outside.

We're still using an older laptop that is basically out of date & over loaded. Our main computer froze up so it wouldn't start, so we took it to a place that came highly recommended back before we went to Disneyland the first week of March........IT'S STILL THERE & NOT FIXED YET!!!!!!!

Needless to say.....I'm getting a bit irked & want my puter back NOW!!!

I'd go down & give them a piece of my mind, but I can't risk losing anymore of it!!!!! :lmao:

Oh my goodness do I ever need to catch up! Drive by posting to say that whoever is coming on Thursday to RFC at 6:30, please PM me and I'll give you my cell phone #. I get finished with class at 12:15 in downtown Santa Barbara, so it should take me 2-3 hours to get there depending on mid-day traffic through downtown LA. (If there's a better suggestion on how to avoid downtown LA from the 101 please let me know!) I believe that Linda had said something about possibly meeting earlier on, so my number might be beneficial. Anyone is welcome. Right now I have a reservation for 8, but I can try to add more if someone else wants to come.

I'll be back later on to play! :flower3:

I am coming on Thursday but will most likely just meet you guys at RFC.

extra hugs for cristabel and her naughty little bear furry girl.

love and light for everyone:grouphug:

Hi everyone! I'm back and of course I am here before I've even unpacked my bags. :goodvibes I only read back a few pages so I hope everyone is doing well.

Beth, find out why they want you to have the colonoscopy. That test saves lives, so if there is a family history of cancer, and your doctor wants you to have it, we're lucky to live in a country where we have access to it.

Stacielee, have heard good results from compounded testosterone.

Kate, I'm glad you got to spend your b-day at DL!

Who else is coming Thursday? Is anyone coming in a bit early? I was thinking of avoiding the rush hour and coming in early enough to get a few rides in - like Midway or Buzz. :yay:

I SO wish I was going to be there! When we went last week for 2 days, we rode Buzz 7 times and Toy Story 7 times! Guess what my son's favorite rides are???

I only got to ride each one once--the 10-year old wanted to shop! Can you imagine?

Hey all! I'm in the hotel in Phoenix. Nathan and I start our week of intense behavioral training for a research study tomorrow. We are then going to head over to Stacie(lee)'s house, and hang. We have planned to go see Up! at some point this week. I'm excited to see my friend again. The hotel is nice, and we are settled in. Nathan ate dinner at the desk like a big boy. He's doing so well!

I didn't really read back, but see that Donna is back. I'm glad she made it home safely.

That's all for now! I might not be on much this week. The hotel charges $13 a day for internet, and so I'm going to get it sparingly, not every night. Talk with you all later!

Heather

Welcome back Donna (psst....where did ya go??)

Heather good luck this week. Have fun hanging out with Stacie. She is a sweetheart!!

HI Dawn I saw you checked in!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Cristobel I hope the doggy doesn't give you any more trouble.

I am off to finish my homework.

Gee, I wonder where he got that from? :rotfl2::lmao: I wish you were going to be here too. BTW, I used that $20 Disney bag with wheels on my trip and it was great. It holds more than many of those rectangular bags because their wheel gear takes up so much interior space. It doesn't always wheel perfectly smooth, but hey, for $20... (this promotion may still be on - if you buy $50 of Disney stuff at DL, you can buy this for $20).

Hi Heather! I'm so glad you and Stacie are going to see each other.

Welcome back Donna (psst....where did ya go??)
.

I went back east to see some aging relatives and then to NY. The weather was the best I've ever had in the summer there!

Hi Dawn, Cristobel!

Oh, they don't want me to have one. I just saw them talking about it on here and wondered aloud if it was something I should look into. But guess not yet. Which is good. I have enough other tests going on right now. lol

Welcome back btw!!

Good luck and have fun!!

Linda and Laurie, I hope all our computer troubles are solved. I admit it, I'm lost without my computer!!

Cristabel, you are a good mommy to Osita. I hope things improve with her.

Cheryl, good to see you check in. Hope you are doing ok.

Hope everyone else had a great weekend. Night!

Hi friends!

The Idol concert was lots of fun. I'm really feeling the love for Matt and Danny!!!

I just read through about 20 pages so I'm sorry if I miss anyone... I had to stop at the colonoscopy part. I thought it would be an easy part to remember to pick back up. That sounds so horribe. I remember I went to the ER for a kidney stone a few years ago and they couldn't schedule my surgery until the following night. I was so hungry and the morphine and percocet made my mouth so dry and gave me the munchies. They wouldn't even let me have ice cubes! After surgery I ate a can of chicken noodle soup from the nurses station, about 15 packs of crackers and 6 packs of cheese then my sister-n-law got me a grilled cheese and pickle from the cafeteria. I'm actually hungry right now I might go make a grilled cheese....

I'm praying so hard for you Beth, I know you were worried when you got those tests done. Hopefully you'll be able to understand what they said and I'm sure everything will be just fine. In any case, I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Cheryl, I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my kitty just this past Christmas. She was technically my sister's kitty, but we got she and my kitty when I was 6. A few years ago I had to take care of my little Shylet while my parents were out of town (they stayed at home after I moved out) and when my parents got home they went and had her put to sleep without telling me. I was mad at first but I'm so glad they did because I wouldn't have been able to handle it. Then Tazzy lived until 18 1/2 and she just went to sleep in my dad's lap on Christmas. Chase had such a sweet face and your stories reveal his true magic. Stay strong!

Kelly, you're such a strong and brave woman. I admire you for that!

Happy belated birthday to everyone, I know there have been a lot!

Cristabel, I didn't read back too far but I hope the doggy thing got resolved. I prayed really hard for that too! I can't even imagine if that happened with one of mine...

Sorry if I forgot anything else!

Thanks to everyone for being so supportive of my move, hives, and emotions. You all really have brought love and light into my life (*props to Dawn for the quote*) and you have all truly given me so much strength to get through this. I know I haven't met any of you yet, but just knowing that many of you are here made my move so much easier. You don't even know what that means to me :grouphug: I'm having such a hard time right now. I don't miss anyone yet but I'm so homesick I'll just randomly start crying. I went to the service at Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Santa Barbara (I think Roy Disney got married there... it was the Episcopal church in Santa Barbara) and I recognized the song that the organ played at first and it made me cry. I sang in the church choir at home for years and I had to try so hard not to sob. It's weird because I'm not a big crier, let alone a public crier. I'm just so outside of my comfort zone right now. I hope things get easier when classes start, which is tomorrow morning. Then before I know it I'll be living it up in DTD with some of you!

Night night!
