Ghost Whisperer Premiere

About Eli, I have to say, I wasn't sure at first, but I'm really liking his and Melinda's scenes together. He seems like a friend to Melinda. I liked Prof. Payne, but I didn't get that chummy feeling. I guess it's because Eli has the gift too. And I have to admit, now that it's out about Jlove and Jamie dating IRL, there's a part of me that kinda wants Melinda and Eli to get together.

I like the storyline, but am a little confused how the rest is going to playout. So Jim is in Sam's body. Won't Melinda's friends/family who don't know about her gift/ghosts think it's odd that she's getting serious with Sam relatively so soon after Jim's death?

I'll keep watching since I enjoy it every week. Even Eli has grown on me, which is surprising since I was so bummed when Jay Mohr left. They say the ratings are really good this season, which is interesting.

I don't understand those who are choosing to abandon ship -it's still the same great show it's always been, just with a few added twists.

:lmao: I don't think that killing Jim and then having him "take over" another body is "an added twist". I think it is right up their with the old Fonz in "jumping the shark". The concept is creepy and ignores the fact that in every other instance when a "spirit" tried to take over a living body, the body began to decay :scared:

I watched from day 1, but in my view this isn't a small plot twist but a completely riduculous story trajectory that was totally unnecessary... I have no interest in watching a program about dead Jim/live Sam and the implications of how they will reconcile the two later on to Melinda's friends...
:rolleyes1

I was one of the ones here who adamantly said they were never watching anymore. :badpc: But, I kept the TV on in the background & loosely watched it.

I'm so glad Jim finally got his memory back.

Yes, I was not thinking the Eli thing was going to work well either, but last night, before he was going to jump into the water, I like how he something like, "Is this how little Melinda means to you? You have that little faith in what she does?" :thumbsup2 It's nice she has someone really on her side, especially as Jim was off in limbo somewhere.

Prof. Payne was a bit snarky and weird. He kept making comments like he wanted to jump her bones, that she'd have to ignore. Suddenly, he's getting ready to leave, and they are best platonic pals. :confused3

I just read that JLH is dating Jamie Kennedy. I wouldnt have pegged them as a couple, but kudos to them!

 Wow, that's a rebound relationship, if ever I heard of one. It's like when Heather Locklear had hooked up with David Spade after Ritchie Sambora left her for her BFF. I think this rebound relationship is more about comfort and having someone who can make her laugh, while she's healing from her failed engagement.

Anyone else notice JLH is more covered up this season? She's actually wearing things that cover her cleavage. I'm liking some of her new outfits. I loved that black dress she had on yesterday with the lace around the edge. Last week, she wore a white lace outfit. :thumbsup2

That previous episode was an entirely different situation...the body had been long dead- too late for it to live again, therefore it was decaying. In Jim's situation, the body was only clinically dead for a few seconds and Jim's soul entering jumped it back to life- therefore his is fully alive and not a zombie.

I think it created a very interesting storyline- different than the usual "ghost of the week" set-up, although we still have had some great ghost stories in the foreground. The concept is not something Ghost Whisperer made up- there is an actual mythology behind it.

Soon, the storyline will be in the past, and the show won't feel so different than before except you'll have people sometimes call Jim Sam. Every season has a different focus.

No I haven't come back after Jim died and jumped into the new body. It's just GROSS. I just can't get over the ICK factor.

I loved this show before the whole "Jim jumping bodies storyline" sorry I just didnt like it, I to thought of the storyline with the decaying body

ok so that guy was only dead for a couple seconds when he jumped in him and he came to life, well if thats how it works why didnt he just jump back in his own body and come back to life?

::yes:: Especially when he was in that corridor showing various scenes from his past. If it wasn't just some illusion, but actually going back in time, he should have been able to jump back in his body. :yay:

Because it didn't occur to him to do that until he tried it on that man's hand in the hospital.
And maybe there are rules about jumping back into your own body? I don't know.

I don't think it's any more creepy than the movie Freaky Friday. That's why I'm interested in the direction that the show is going now- I've always loved switched identity stories.

At first when Jim went into Sam's body .. I was like .. okkkkkk, not liking it ..
but I have to admit .. I have been watching to see how the season will end ......
does anyone have any ideas........
I believe the season ending episiode should be coming soon ?

Nah, because this is Melinda and it wouldn't work with the story arc! :lmao: Seriously, they make it up as they go along... my guess is they hoped no one would remember and if they did, well, so what? :happytv:

Seriously, if you buy it, that's fine... degustibus non disputandum :thumbsup2

I was responding to the question posed which was how folks could abandon the show because of a "little story twist"... there are those who humbly disagree that this qaulifies as a "little story twist"

Well, here's a tiny little spoiler. Not much but thought I'd share it anyway. :)

I was watching TMZ a couple of weeks ago and they were following JLH while filming the show and she had a baby bump!!

Of course, it could have been a dream sequence and mean nothing. We'll see.

I totally get why some decided to give up the show. It was a bad twist, IMHO, but I'm glad I stuck with it cause Friday's show was great! :)

Well, the show hasn't changed *that* much...it's still about a woman who can see ghosts. I don't think they are making up rules- they have consultants on all the ghost mythology. Melinda herself doesn't know everything. There are plenty of new concepts to explore.

I wouldn't stop watching a show I loved from the beginning even if I disliked a new direction it took- little twist or bg twist- if I love the characters and basic premises, I'm too curious and couldn't stop even if I wanted to. But that's just me. I'll give even the worst of things a chance- I've even defended the direct to video Disney movies that most people thumbed their noses at.

If you choose to give up, who am I to try to stop you? I'm just hoping enough people agree with me to keep the ratings up. I'll be very bummed if the show gets canceled.

I just can't believe that JLH and Jamie Kennedy are "in love". She seems to have serious commitment issues. I wonder how long this one will last...probably until a few months before their planned wedding.

they've known each other for along time,so maybe since it started with friendship it will last.:confused3 as far as this new jim story, how are they going to explain it to all the friends and family members and so on...and will he go by jim or sam??? and are they still going to show the other guy in the mirror..who is he anyway??

its kinda a weird since jim is "dead" to all friends and family ..

so melinda has to treat jim like "sam "??

For some of us the show has changed that much. I don't like the dead Jim story line and it has pretty much killed how I feel about it. I may watchn 1 or 2 more to see if that changes but other than that I doubt I will be watching it much if at all.

I'm not too worried about the friends and family issue. They don't have many friends (their two best friends know what's up) and family is also never around. I mean Melinda's mom didn't even come to Jim's funeral and Sam's family lives in another state. Now maybe Sam has some work friends or something, I don't know but I'm not too worried about it. The next couple of weeks should be interesting.

I'd like them to continue some story lines that seemed to disappear. Like her evil brother?? The scary man with the trench coat and hat?? Are they ever going to explain those to us??

as far as this new jim story, how are they going to explain it to all the friends and family members and so on...

You're talking about a woman who has no problem standing in the park in the middle of that town square, talking to herself, smiling or crying at odd times and waving at nobody that's there. ;)

Someone had a great suggestion here: Put one of those Bluetooth ear thingies on her, to make it look like she's talking on her phone. :thumbsup2
