Okay, I have no personal experiences, unless you count the time I was reading Salem's Lot out loud to my EH, and the fire alarm went off! First and last time it ever did that.
BUT! I have always ALWAYS read books and stories about this very thing, I just NEVER feel the vibes. My brother and sister are convinced they have actually SEEN ghosts, my brother actually lived in an old house downtown which very well may be haunted. I believe them, but no matter how may so-called haunted houses I go into in our Most Haunted town, I never feel anything.
Also, I have been in the presence of many people who have just died or are in the process of dying while I am there (I am an EMT) and really, I never feel or sense anything....![]()
I just think the "gene" skipped me...which is fine, because of the nature of my job, and the fact that I am a single mom with a dd who is very very into the supernatural, I would probably never get any sleep!
BUT I love this thread.
Welcome to this thread. I think that you might be right about having a sensitivity to seeing these things. When my dad was dying I wanted to ask the ICU nurses if they had ever experienced anything. I do know as I said in an earlier thread that when he was under the meds they claimed he could hear us and about 10 min before he died my sister felt somone tap her on the elbow. I was at a vantage point at the end of the bed to see no one was there the nurses were about 6 ft back. I think that because of the state of concentration and focus to your job , you need to remain emotionally detached and possibly that is why you do not feel or see anything. Also I think the person dying has no attachement to you so they most likely would not manifest to you.
One question have you ever heard a dying person address someone in the room (ambulance) as if he she were speaking to someone s/he knew? You might think they are halucinating because you do not know the personal history.
