Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

Okay, I have no personal experiences, unless you count the time I was reading Salem's Lot out loud to my EH, and the fire alarm went off! First and last time it ever did that.

BUT! I have always ALWAYS read books and stories about this very thing, I just NEVER feel the vibes. My brother and sister are convinced they have actually SEEN ghosts, my brother actually lived in an old house downtown which very well may be haunted. I believe them, but no matter how may so-called haunted houses I go into in our Most Haunted town, I never feel anything.

Also, I have been in the presence of many people who have just died or are in the process of dying while I am there (I am an EMT) and really, I never feel or sense anything....:worried:

I just think the "gene" skipped me...which is fine, because of the nature of my job, and the fact that I am a single mom with a dd who is very very into the supernatural, I would probably never get any sleep!

BUT I love this thread.

Welcome to this thread. I think that you might be right about having a sensitivity to seeing these things. When my dad was dying I wanted to ask the ICU nurses if they had ever experienced anything. I do know as I said in an earlier thread that when he was under the meds they claimed he could hear us and about 10 min before he died my sister felt somone tap her on the elbow. I was at a vantage point at the end of the bed to see no one was there the nurses were about 6 ft back. I think that because of the state of concentration and focus to your job , you need to remain emotionally detached and possibly that is why you do not feel or see anything. Also I think the person dying has no attachement to you so they most likely would not manifest to you.

One question have you ever heard a dying person address someone in the room (ambulance) as if he she were speaking to someone s/he knew? You might think they are halucinating because you do not know the personal history.

Welcome pennst8r, great stories![/QUOTE
From me too! :dance3: I just went back and saw the post I must have missed it. Good stories.

By the way my friend just gave me the new James Van Pragh book as a gift. She does not know about this kind of stuff Has anyone read him ? I think he is a phoney. I will read it anyway but he is someone who does a cold reading.

I like John Edward and also the GH book. Who have you all read?

I thought last night's Ghost Hunters was pretty creepy, I'd give it an 8! Especially those images they got on the infrared camera! I was like this when they showed that last one::eek:

Okay I saw the show. I will say that if the figure on the thermal is not a real person I think it was about an 8.5 on ghost scale. I think because there was no heat signature foot prints after the image disappeared that it most likely was real. I feel like it was almost too real.

As for the loud sound, it sounded like a cannon firing to me also and then when the curator said it I felt validated.

The evp in the kitchen almost made me think that whomever the woman is that the curator's wife saw considers it her kitchen still. IMHO she was telling GH that this was her kitchen. If you notice the bang occured when they were playing with the tools on the table.

I wrote my post in white in case someone has not seen the show yet. Just highlight and it will appear. Kind of a ghost response!:scared1:

I feel the same way Bella. I don't really think that TAPS was convinced themselves because they didn't sound all that excited about it as they did about what happened in the Crescent Hotel for example.

I enjoyed last night's episode and I thought the infrared was really cool, but it just didn't have the WOW factor for me.

DH said they should go somewhere for a week, especially somewhere like in those tunnels, where they know they've seen stuff and see how much info they can gather. They could even bring in someone to talk to the guy in the tunnel.

To me, it looked like a soldier marching the way it walked, turned and walked again.

I would have liked to see some infrared in the kitchen too. I wonder why they didn't do it there?

Your DH is right now that I think about it. The only thing in its favor was no heat signature on the floor. But who knows ... I do not know how much thermal imaging picks up. If you are walking on a cold floor maybe you do not have a heat signature. I think I would have felt better if Grant and Jay had shown their own heat signature on the floor of the cave as a comparison.

That would have been good if Grant walked in front of the thermal too so we could compare.::yes::

The guys just didn't seem as excited as (I felt) they should have been .

I don't care for the background music they play now either. I was trying to listen really hard and the music was getting annoying.

Your comment about the background music has been voiced by so many people on this site and even on the GH site and yet the producers do not listen. It totally obscures anything that is happening. Also do they HAVE to show them picking up all the equipment EACH time they go to a site? I am sick of seeing someone rolling up extension cords or closing down a camera case. According to what I have seen in interviews from Jay and Grant, they say it takes like 9 days to get one of these done and we see only a verylittle bit. Why not scrap the set up and knock down stuff which wastes time and give us more of what we want. Even if it is just background on the site they are visiting.

My dad who was with my great aunt when she died said that she was talking to relatives who had passed, they were with her in her hospital room right before she died. She seemed very concerned that they were gathered for a party and she wasn't dressed appropriately. They asked her who she saw and she rattled off the names of relatives who had passed. :confused3

Welcome pennst8r, great stories!

I don't know how I missed her posts either - all great stories! Welcome!

I'm going to see if theres a comment place on Sci-FI's website, I'm going to give them my 2 cents about that background music.

I agree with that they should give more background on where they are as opposed to showing them packing up the equipment. ::yes::

That was funny. And what's up with Steve carrying a big can of Spider Spray now. :sad2:

That was pretty funny too..and then they saw the daddy long legs. Those are actually spiders that don't bother me cause the body is so small, smacking on of them isn't gross and messy

sorry I'm replying so much...but I missed so much up until now!

Thank goodness DH isn't out of town tonight...I'd be sleeping with the lights on after reading some of these posts :scared1:

My grandmother had an ouija board--so when I visited her in FL, their neighbor's daughter and I tried it out. Scared the poo out of me. The first thing it spelled was "your friends mother is resting in peace". the other girl didn't know, but my best friends mother was killed a few weeks before I'd come to FL. It violently spelled out "SHUTUPSHUTUP" when it claimed to be a "shy" ....ghost? ....and we said it had to go away if it wouldn't give us a name. That cost me MANY sleepless nights. Haven't touched one since.

Anyone ever felt like someone sat on their bed while they were sleeping? I used to feel that alot when I was young...and a few times as an adult. I was always to chicken to open my eyes and look...

ok...now I"m going to go snuggle really close to DH and try to sleep.

Never felt that but when I worked overnights I used to sleep on my couch during the day. I would sleep facing the room so by back was against the back of the couch. I woke from a sound sleep to the feel of someone (thing) breathing on the back of my neck. I have a very sensitive back and anyone breathing near my back or touching it just about sends me into a panic...this was so strong and so real I jumped off the couch and looked around and I had the shivers going down my back for awhile after it. Really creeped it out big time...I can still feel it and it's been years and years since I worked that shift.

I liked this episode. I give it 8 ghosts but I'm being generous because it was such an interesting location. I would love to see the place.

Now onto GHI, the show with the really creepy places!

I always say it would be cool to visit the places they go to...but I would be the "run dude" person if I went.

I've read one of his books..not sure how I feel about him or john Edwards.

They make it seem like they are there for 1 night only and then only for s short time. I wish the music would stop because maybe then we could actually hear some of the things they hear. I can also do without the set up and take down of equipment.

Last night when I saw that big old orange cord wheel thingie, I thought, yeah, yeah run the cord, tape down the cords, adjust the cameras, we get it, we get it!
If you find a comment place let us know, I mean I know its alot of work setting that up, but every week we see it, run the cords, tape down the cords, adjust the cameras ect ect ect ect ect ect

Could you mention that we all know the only thing Steve is not afraid of is a ghost. :rotfl: Seriously, if they mention that one more time....

Well here is what I wrote to scifi:

I really love the show Ghost Hunters. I have read that it was SciFi's idea to add the erie music to the background during investigations. In my opinion this was a BIG mistake. The music is nothing but annoying, especially when we, as viewers, are trying hard to listen in on the EVP's.

I hope you will rethink the whole erie background music thing, it's a little too "Hollywood movie" for these real New England ghost hunters.

Sincerely,

xxxxxxxx

Or:

Hmmm, I wonder what EVP stands for. :scratchin

Every week when they give us the Definition, DH and I look at each other and laugh.:rotfl:

:rotfl2: And the new part where Jay and Grant are alone in the car on the way home from an investigation and have "the talk" . "I really think they got it. Yeah, I think they understood where we were coming from. They took it really well" :rotfl2:

I love the show, but seriously, could this be any more scripted (said in my best Chandler from Friends imitation).

I told you I was in a funky mood and I'm still in one today too.
