Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

Which also proves some psychics are real and some aren't. ;-) Or just more developed.

I come from a "weird" family that had one of the most haunted places as a "family place" -- it wasn't a good feeling haunt either. None of the "elders" talked about it. My mother could "tune" in -- one of my sisters and I could, too. After my eldest uncle who lived in the house died, the house totally went silent. (We stayed there for his funeral -- nothing was left in that house).

Years later, my youngest uncle said he would go up to the farm and spend the night sometimes with his brother and said he'd "go upstairs, pull the covers over his head and pray for morning." We asked him how come no one ever SPOKE about it!

Now, we would like to have had an EMF run on the house, as it was a very old farmhouse in bad need of repair and re-wiring (which we didn't know about back then). I'm wondering if the wiring caused some of the bad feelings to the house -- especially since most of the "hair on the back of your neck" feeling occurred after the sun went down.

The farm went out of the family (my uncle did not have a will and was childless). A young family with children bought the house and totally remodeled it. My sisters have spoken with them (and luckily they believe in the paranormal, so a question like, "Have you seen or heard anything strange?" didn't off set them). They said they hadn't.

Sorry to hijack your post, but to boil it all down -- I think there are people who are more in tune with paranormal activity than others.

Phew .....

I used to watch GH and MH all the time, then got busy from work and lost track of them. Now i'm hooked on Ghost Adventures. It's always neat when your taunting ghosts lol. They just investigated the Castillo de San Marcos fort in St. Augustine and that was wicked. My favorate so far since the Bobby Mackey Music World episode.

Well just found you guys. I have a few stories.

My grandmother was convinced she had a poltergeist. She worked in a restaurant and the salad bowl (she was the salad girl.) came flying down 1 by 1 off of the refrigerator. (That was one of her classic stories) But I did see an insident. Grandma was getting the plates down to set the table. As she was reaching for the plates the cabinet door next to her opened up and the gravy boat that was on the top shelf flew down toward her and crashed at her feet. Now it couldn't have fallen out because someone had just been in that cabinet because no one had and the angle that it fell was off.

Then there was right after my dad died. I put my DD who was 8 months old to bed and she was calm, half a sleep and as soon as I got into the family room she was laughing and giggling like crazy. This went on for like 10 minutes. She had never done anything like that before. At the time we said that dad was in there with her. Around that same time I had lost the remote to my garage door opener. I had handed it to my son in the backseat because he like to open the door for me. Well I couldn't find it looked for like a week. Then 1 night my DH was using my cell phone and just left it on the coffee table instead of in the diaper bag wear it lived. So the next day I see it sitting on the table, grab it throw it into the diaper bag. Then that afternoon while at the store I went to call DH and I couldn't find the phone. Thought I would just look for it later. I get home can't find the phone, look everywhere can't find it empty out the diaper bag. No phone. Go into the car, No phone but then suddenly I find the garage remote. Now I looked in that car for over a week as well as DH. Then 2 days no phone. DH even moved the sofa. Went to lunch with mom. My diaper bag dumps out after I told my mom about the missing phone. As mom and I are retrieving everything out of the bag that was now under the table . She picks up, you guessed it, my phone. No this might not mean anything to you but my dad was the king of lets hide something on you. I swear to this day it was him.

I just found this thread and will go back and read but just wanted to share something that happened to me and DD about 15 years ago. I should start with I do believe in the paranormal and also life after death.

My DH was working late and DS was already and bed, so DD and I where sitting in a chair facing the back of the house where the bathroom and laundry room are. We where playing patty cake, she was about 2 years old. Well she stopped dead looked to the back of the house and put her head on my chest. I asked her what was wrong and she said nothing and we just went back to playing. Well she does it again, this time when I said DD name whats wrong, your freaking me out, she said.....NANNY. Now my DD has never met my mom my mom died 3 years before she was even born. So I said "where is nanny".....so she took me by the hand and we went into the laundry room and she pointed up in the corner at the ceiling and said "there nanny" so I went and got some photo albums to see if she could recognize my mom and she didn't....oh also her other grandma is still alive so I assuming it was my mom. But she never did anything like that again.

Another time, the kids and I where in bed and DH was at work...he worked night shift then and I heard some commotion on my street, I came down the stairs to go to the front door and there was a image of my mom standing at the door I tried to call out to her and she didn't answer and I tried to step forward and I couldn't. I don't know if there was some danger that she was trying to keep me from openning the front door.

Now those both happened at my old house.

Do any of you think any of these events are from the after life or just weird instances???

Great stories all. It's fascinating to see how basically the same things happen to many people.

Explodo, I'm also an engineer and tend to be overly practical way too often. Let's just say that witnessing events and dealing with trustworthy people that things happen to tends to change one's thinking. I'm fascinated by the names the children have given these entities. Could they be mispronouncing the actual names? Also, if the activity resumes have you considered setting up a cam?

It sounds like your Mom was communicating with you. I've been told that often entities will appear as they looked at a younger so have you thought about showing pictures of your Mom at a younger age to your child?

"Could they be mispronouncing the actual names?"

Most likely so IMO. They are 5 and 2...they are prone to mispronouncing things to begin with. But you know, Dark man and Clockhead are simply descriptions of whatever she's interacing with...and the Ho-ho-ho guy? I have no idea...it's some kind of abstraction only the DS knows about. (I have a suspision though....I think when he first ran into the entity, it might have reminded him of santa...He calls santa hohoho)

As far as a camera, we've tried before...but haven't had any luck.

I saw last weeks episode about Castillo de San Marcos....DH and I went on a tour a few years back, and I remember that "room where they found the hanging bodies.." it was very cold in there.....

I went to the Castillo last summer and I never saw the room with the bodies. I wish I had taken a tour but we just went off by ourselves. Idid however take photos thiking that this would be a prime loction for haunting. We did not get anything in them.

I am so glad this thread has become reactivated. It was kind of slow for a while but Explodo certainly lived up to his name when it came to re energizing it. :yay:

Like this one? :D

PG: I really hope she was. Unfortunely my DD is almost 17 now and doesn't even remember it happening.

You guys know that Grant and Jay are coming to Dragoncon in Atlanta Labor Day Weekend?

They do talks and signatures...it's a good chance to ask them the questions you want to ask...and they are both incredibly friendly both on and off the convention floor...I threw them off one year asking a plumbing question.:)

Just an FYI. As for experiences, my parent's house is haunted, by the ghosts of our passed pets...

Can you provide some details? I had my house haunted by my dog but when we got our new dog it stopped.

Well, people always think I'm odd when I tell them my childhood home is haunted by the ghost of one of our cats. My mom felt 'Shadow' jump on her bed and snuggle up to her the night she died (she was hit by a car outside, we had no cat doors leading into the house). After that she used to walk up and down the stairs at night making them creak. This isn't 'settling', its a specific consecutive set of sounds they make when something's going up or down. That stopped when we got new pets. She also appears occasionally, usually when there are no other animals in the house. Nothing freaky, just she walks by a doorway or something and several seconds later you realize, "What the heck?! There hasn't been a black cat in this house for decades." We used to think it was just us seeing her, but several people from outside the family have seen her too, both those who know the story and people who don't.

The last time I saw her was the most interesting of my experiences. I was playing cards with a couple of friends and I saw a cat go by out of the corner of my eye. I didn't think anything of it, because my parents had a cat at the time. However, a second later I remembered that my parents cat was staying at my grandparents house while my parents were out of town. I stopped shuffling in surprise, but wasn't going to say anything to freak anyone out. Then my one friend said "Holy cow! I think I just saw your ghost cat go by!"

Weirdness.

One dog died. When home visiting my parents, i had the other dog in the bed with me, when I heard the sound of the other dog in the closet tearing at the new carpet. This was something he always did, so I told him to stop.

Silence followed.

Check out my experiences earlier on this thread. I had several of them and when we got out new dog named also named Shadow the experiences stopped. Sadly we had to put Shadow down in March after 13 years but strangely, he has never come back. We were just discussing him tonight and my son said Buster (first dog) made himself known but Shadow spent his days laying around so he is probably back but too lazy to do anything:rotfl:and if you knew Shadow you would agree!

We have pets that "linger," too ... In fact, when I lived in Indiana my old girl cat, China, passed away in the house -- I was with her. My sister bought my house when we moved to Florida and she says she sometimes catches glimpses of a black cat going into the laundry room where the litter box is -- they also feel a cat jump up on their bed. They say they talk to her which makes me happy (as they knew each other and China was really people-oriented).

I moved China's "brother" down here with me. He had been diagnosed with bowel cancer at 15. He did not appear terribly sick, we had a wonderful vet school at Purdue, so Max went through chemo. The vets there called him the "Miracle Boy" because he went into remission and was over 17 when we moved him down here.

He had a few good months and finally developed more tumors (lungs and most likely brain), so we kept him at home until it was time for that final trip to the vet's. I was holding him and after he passed, I clearly felt something brush the back of my hand (like his face). It was strong enough that I jumped and said "Oh!" (and it made me cry).

Six months later, we adopted 2 4-month old brothers. One evening I was at the computer and watched two cats run from the bathroom out the bedroom door (we have the 2 young ones and 2 older ones that are my daughter's).

Well .... one of the "babies" was there -- but all the other cats were on the other side of the house! I think Maxie was having a good romp with the baby.

Hey y'all :wave2:

I haven't read through all the posts yet but I thought this would be the perfect place to share my excitement about my upcoming trip. (My DH is a complete skeptic and good naturedly pokes fun at my excitement).

I am going next weekend to The Spalding Inn in NH. It is the Inn that Jay & Grant bought. It was featured last week in a cross-over episode with GHI. I am going with a group of women that have all had experiences in their past. We hope that being sensitive to the activity will make it more active for us.

Going to go back now and read some of your posts! Happy hunting....
