Getting what you request?

I've been toying with the last five years how to get the most out of a request I make when making a ressie at OKW and I've found that making the ressie at least 8 months out always has guaranteed that I get Bldg. 11 studio first floor non smoking. And it never mattered what week I made the ressie for, MLK , Easter, Pres. week even thanksgiving. Has anyone else had this same experience with request or is my family and I just extremely lucky?:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

In our 25-ish DVC trips, we've gotten our preferences every time except once. We always request non-smoking, Turtle Pond, upper floor. We usually reserve near the start of the 11 month window. We just reserved a visit for the end of August, so we'll see how it works for "last minute" ressies.

The one time we didn't get our request we ended up in Building 13. Surely they could have found a room between Turtle Pond and HH! It wasn't as hectic and noisy as we thought it would be, but parking was awful (and that was several years ago).

I don't know if I am just one of the lucky ones, but our request for boardwalk view at BWV has always been met. Moreover, we usually arrive about 1:30 on a Sunday and our room has always been available upon arrival. To get boardwalk view all we have ever done is make the request when reserving the room which we have usually reserved 9 to 10 months out.

After you made your requests, did you do any follow ups as a reminder? We made our ressies 11 months out and I wasn't sure if I needed to reconfirm my requests closer to leaving?

We've never followed up. The only thing we do is check the confirmation letter to be sure the preferences are listed correctly. Sometimes they're not, so we call back and correct them.

BTW, we always ask for Turtle Pond area, and on two consecutive trips we ended up in the same room -- 4321. Talk about being "home"! :D

I've never called for a follow up, I guess that when you plan well in advance you must be put as first priority by the room controller, not sure just guessing! the one time that i did call with only three months to my ressie date and asked for Bldg.11 studio first floor non smoking I recieved Bldg.36 second floor non smoking!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :D

Well, I am not complaining, but I have NEVER gotten my request at BW for a boardwalk view in five times. I have always made the reservation at exactly 11 months out, day by day, and it has always been for a 2 bedroom unit. I don't know if it is because we have traveled during busy times (Spring break) or not or, because of the size unit we request or if we just happen to be unlucky in the request department ;) That is why I have started going for the standard view because it gives me more points to use later and I don't really mind the view (since I haven't experienced the BW view!)

Three trips - same room!!! Coincidence??? We ask for same size unit and list three buildings, non-smoking. Last Nov. we hung little white plastic hooks for Christmas lights, cannot see them unless you look for them. If we get this room this November, we will be all set. I donot want to spook the luck and just asked for the same three buildings. Any betters out there! (LOL)
This is an ideal location for us too. I know we have been lucky but really feel at home when we arrive!

The first time I went to OKW, I got a 2 BR in Building #62. I requested that again, the next time and got #64, which we also liked. In March, we requested and got #62, which is exactly what we wanted.

We went to BWV last year in a studio, preferred view and got a pool view, with the patio area behind a bush! LOL!

In November, going down for the Food and Wine Show, we will be staying at BWV in a standard 1 BR. I also consider it a waste of points to pay more for the view we had previously.
