Getting to Downtown Disney?

Last year we never made it to DD , so this year we are planning on checking it out . I know I can catch a bus at any resort for DD. But can I get there from any parks or TTC, or do I have to go to a resort?

According to my official Disney Transportation Guide, service to Downtown Disney is from all of the resorts. So it appears you'd need to get to a resort if you're originating at one of the theme parks. The theme parks are connected to the resorts.
