Getting Ready for our July Trips to the World

Well, I'm looking at you guys to help with the motivation part:worship:
Today we have a party to go to and next week we're hosting a party and relatives. After that I have 2 months to devote myself to getting in some kind of walking shape.

Anyone know anything about the blood type diet? I'm just curious, because I was reading up on some things, not necessarily for weight loss...although I could certainly benefit from it...but for food sensitivity. I'm type O and it recommends basically gluten and dairy and corn free for type O's.

hmm I have never heard of the blood type diet! I will have to read up on it ... generally I am not a big fan of 'diets' ... I am a big believer in everything in moderation ... That is why I stick to weight watchers ... that and exercise always works for me (when I do it right!)

Good luck to you! Would love to hear about the blood type diet if you start it ...

I am not starting it right now. I am just wondering if there is any validation of it anywhere. Basically what it says is that different blood types should eat certain foods and avoid others, because of the way the body processes them. I'm type O, it says I should avoid gluten altogether and potatos and corn and different grains, all for different reasons. My husband is a type B it says he should avoid chicken and peanuts and tomatos and different things for different reasons. I think I'm going to try to get the book from amazon. I was just wondering if it is a waste of time and money or if anyone has tried it and felt better.

I've given up (mostly) on the losing weight part for now because certain medication I am on causes weight gain and it did. I'm still taking the meds, so I don't think it's going to come off quite that easily :)

I read about the diet after reading your post. It sounds interesting, but I am type A and it says I should be a vegetarian - that is not going to happen. I guess I am a carnivore at heart!

It is hard taking medication that causes weight gain. That is something I am battling too. It gets very frustrating. But, getting in shape for Mickey is more than just losing weight. We will not have tired legs at the end of the day if nothing else!

Good job on keeping within your points! I did not work out today either. The community center fitness area was closed for some type of big cleaning today. So, I took today as my day off. Still need to work on the evening snacking......

Thank you!!!

I'm Caroline and I have to add myself to the 'I didn't work out today' crowd :) I did a lot of cleaning, does that count for anything?

I'd like to lose at least 10 pounds by July. I was really hoping for 20, but I don't want to set an unreachable goal for myself. I also do the wii fit when I can. I don't know how good it really is, but it has to be better than just sitting on the couch. Anyone else do that?

I just got a coupon in my email from WW for lifetime members (not that you'd ever know I was one by looking at me!) that you can go to a free meeting between now and Monday to check out the new program. All you have to do is bring the coupon with you. I may try to take it and go to a meeting tomorrow morning or Sunday morning.

Welcome!!!

Setting small attainable goals is so much better than one big goal. When goals seem unattainable a lot of time we just give up.

:wave2: Hell my name is Michelle and
I should set a goal to loose about 20lbs:confused: but I just want to get in shape for all the walking in Disney.

We did go for a walk today about 3 miles, but with the kids we don't really work up a sweat:lmao:

Hey everyone :) I am joining in!

We are headed to WDW July 5th-11th.

I've been doing the WWer/gym thing, well on and off for years LOL But just recently recommitted on April 1st ... I am only weighing in on the first Friday of each month though, so my first weigh in is May 6th! I am excited to see how I did...

I have a lot of weight to lose and am hoping to just stick to the plan until we head to Disney... the plan being, follow WWers and go to the gym haha! No real goals as far as weight loss ... I just want to be in better shape then, than I am now ... I want to be able to do more with my family and in a better place physically.

For as overweight as I am, I can hang pretty well at WDW, but I know the more I move/train now, then the more I will be able to do there!

My gym schedule has been pretty intense the last few weeks ... right now I am a SAHM and my husband is deployed, so that equals lots of time for me to work out ... we belong to the YMCA and they have AWESOME childcare that my kids both love, so it makes it easy for me to go ... currently I do 2-3 spin classes, 1-2 zumba classes, 1 treadmill day and three days of weights. I typically am at the gym M, W, Th, F, Sa with Tu and Su as my off days. Some weeks things get jumbled up but I try for those days. With summer around the corner, we will be at the gym pool a lot too.

Anyway, sorry for the l o n g winded intro ... but HI and I look forward to getting to know you all :)

Welcome!!!

Thank you to you and your husband for what you do for our country.

I will do my best to motivate you, I have never heard of the blood type diet, but then again I usually stay clear of anything that seems like a "diet", which is why I love WW.

Here's is my check-in:
Yesterday I weighed myself and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I'm about 9 lbs more than I was last year. I still have tried on my summer clothes yet, I think I'll wait until after 1 full week on WW.

Yesterday I went to the gym and did my lower body weight program. I plan on going today and doing upper body and walk/run on the treadmill. The next 2 days I'm out of commission as I have a work trip with a 5 hour drive each way.

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday,

Hi Lauren :) Thanks for the welcome! I am glad to have found this thread! Where in NY are you? I grew up in Northern NY ... a small town called Henderson which is closest to Watertown and then Syracuse. We left in 2001 though and have not lived there since, but we get home every few years to visit.

My weekend is going well ... no gym time this weekend (No day care at the gym on Sundays and Saturday I had plans) but my WWers is spot on ... even ate at Olive Garden last night and stayed on point!

Having a lazy day actually today and I need to get myself up and going to do SOMETHING! Maybe swim or just take the kids to the park or out in the backyard ... though I really want to just lay around and watch Royal Wedding coverage LOL

Dinner tonight will be homemade pizza (do need to run to the store for a few things I forgot) ... made a big breakfast this morning that was yummy.

Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday!

I was born, raised and still living in Rochester.

I love homemade pizza. Have fun no matter what you decide to do today,

I hear you on the meds thing. Two of the meds I am permanently on cause weight gain. I had changed to them about 1 and 1/2 yrs. ago and the weight slowly but surely came on. ick. I'm still quite overweight, and I know I can lose some weight despite the meds. It just is another demotivator to overcome.

I have decided that I have NO motivation to work out on the weekends. I spend most of my day cleaning lately and I've been told that's exercise but I dont feel it :confused3

Tomarrow is Monday though which means classes at the Gym again or just going to the cardio/weight room or even swimming in the pool. I'm really hopping DD relaxes when I put her in the hourly care room at the gym or I know I'm going to have a guilt ridden work out again :guilty:. I know I should have gotten a good burn going on Friday, but I kept worrying that she was upset and I would get called in again. She didnt though and I had enough time to shower and dress before I went to get her from the room. I also bought my GNC shakes for the month as well as all the good foods. I just keep telling myself I CAN DO THIS!

Happy Monday everyone! Getting ready to hit up the gym today, cant decide between doing cardio/weights or the water aerobics class they have but the latter sounds like fun!
I am glad I remembered to take my vitimans this morning and get down my first 2 glasses of water for the day which will help in the long run.
Currently I take 2 Fiber Choice with calcium and Vitiman D, Fish Oil and Centrum Women's.
I gotta get my feet in gear though and get my youngest dressed so I can take her to the daycare they have at the gym.

Gray~ I actually live in Watertown right now :rotfl: Were supposed to be getting orders before this deployment is up though. I'm originally from a warmer state and these winters are harsh on me. I like to get out and go but with waist high snow it's a little difficult.

haha small world! Yep, I grew up around there and SWORE I would not marry a soldier haha! Met my hubby on base and well, here I am a 12 year army wife ;) Yep, winters in NY (and the economy and cost of living) were a big reason we chose to leave ...

Where are you hoping to head to next? we are trying hard to stay here in GA somehow! My DH has 6 more years to retirement and we want to stay here, so he is trying to get Ft Stewart next and commute part of the week ...

Had a great workout this morning! Did spin class and then weights. Burned about 670 calories! Was starving when I got home (I had eaten oatmeal and cataloupe before I went) so I made the yummiest sandwhich ... turkey, gouda cheese, lots of lettuce and dukes light mayo! Hit the spot :)

I weigh in on Friday and am anxious to see how I did! (My first WI since April 1st!)

Hope everyone is having a nice Monday!

I would really like to go back to TX but apparently we could go to Alabama as well for DH to teach at the school house there. We've got 3 more years until he's at 20 though and were looking into living in TX after he retires....well TX or KS.

I went and did a water aerobics class this morning and got to complete it! DD didnt freak out as bad after had left the hourly care room! Then I went and sat in the Sauna instead of hitting up the weight room. Not sure how many cal's I burned though. I've had 4 glasses of water so far this morning and will be working on my 6 very shortly. Also went to GNC and ot got some Lean Shake mixes....2 large containers for under 40 bucks! Tomarrow is ZUMBA! So I will be there working off atleast 800 cal's or more!

OK well since the "I'm in" post on Thursday I haven't done anything remotely fit (well other than running from the pub in bare feet down Edinburgh's main street clutching my fabulouse shoes in order to catch the last train after a work night out on Thursday! Does that count?)

We had Friday off for the Royal Wedding and then this was a long weekend anyway as we get the first Monday in May as a public holiday. So back to work and fitness regime tomorrow!!

You all seem to be doing so well! Well done!

I am taking part in a mountain biking event up in the Scottish Highlands in less than 3 weeks so need to get out on my bike and/or to get some spinning done before then.

Anyway good luck everyone!!

mo x

Have you done spinning classes? I was thinking about doing them but am a bit scared of doing all the standing up on a stationary bike with this woman urging me on :rotfl2:

I'm going to be getting ready to go to the gym again today. I missed a delivery yesterday while I was there so I had to leave a note for them to leave it today without a signature from me. Took my vitimans and fiber tabs and have my trusty water jug with me. I need to start tracking what I eat again during the day to help me get my burn on. Hope y'all have a great TUESDAY!

If you find a decent instructor they shouldn't push you too hard if you are new :) I started spinning when I was quite heavy and never had anyone 'push' me too hard. That is the joy of spinning ... you can control the resistance on your bike and decide what you can or can't do! I love spinning and do it 2-3 times a week! Burn about 500-600 calories each 45 minute class.

But when you first start out, your girl parts and butt will be a bit sore ;) It DOES go away fairly quickly, you just have to stick it out!!!

Almost to two months to go!!! WOOT WOOT! I am so excited!

Today is my off gym day though I think I might break out my wii zumba ... I bought it a while ago and have not really tried it yet!

Had a little run in with some easter candy last night ... not horrible and I am sure I had more than enough activity points/weekly points from weight watchers, but still looking back I wish I had not eaten it all ...

but today is a new day and I had my fruit and oatmeal and am set to go :) Need to run to Publix and get some more fruits ... mmmm cantaloupe and watermelon and grapes have been my friend lately! So yummy on these hot days!!!

Ouch to the girl parts and the bum. I'm just tired of my thighs rubbing together when I walk lol.

I had a run in today with a Whopper JR. I ordered it without mayo and they didnt ask me about cheese (I assumed because they didnt ask they wouldnt put it on) and wouldnt you know it, there was cheese on it . I did about 20 minutes of a zumba class today (AFTER I did the stuff I'm going to mention so after that there was little to no energy to do zumba) as well as running on the treadmill for 10 minutes, eliptical for 15 minutes and a circut of weights. I had my total lean shake for breakfast and it wasnt to tasty (new flavor) so I think I need to read the directions for this flavor...I'm thinking i have to make it with skim milk.

Sunday was my day off and I have been back to the gym Monday and today. Doing a combo of cardio (treadmill, bike) and weights. According to the machines, I am burning about 300 calories on the cardio plus the weights. I had read that if you cut down by 500 cals per day (combining less food with exercise) that should allow you to drop at least a pound a week.

Got on the scale yesterday and had not lost anything. Did not gain either. I am guessing that, I am back to building muscle and I did have a run in with a huge meal out on Friday - for our anniversary.

The last time I got serious about exercise (just in December) it was about the 3rd week before I started to drop pounds.

I wish there was a spinning class close by. There is a zumba class I am looking into. I would love to burn more calories in a shorter exercise session.

Yeah I do a spin class or two most weeks (though not the last couple of weeks - oops), it's a great workout. You'll soon realise that the standing up on a stationary bike gives the tender bits a bit of respite :rotfl:!
