Getting Ready at GF?

Hi! For those of you who had your reception at GF, did anyone get dressed there? When we had our sales meeting with Bill, he said there was a little conference room we could use for free and they would bring in mirrors. But then at my PS, my wedding planner said there was a F&B minimum of 500. Not so sure I want to pay that. I am staying at the GF the night before, but since there are at least 6 of us getting hair and makeup done (and possible 2 flower girls, 2 moms, and 2 grandmas), 1 room isn't going to be big enough.

Any one have any other ideas? Or have used that little conference room near Whitehall for free?

You can get a conference room for free, but you will not be able to "book" it until two weeks before. So it is possible, but it is based on availability, so if there are a lot of conventions that day you may be out of luck. My DH and his guys got ready there and the girls and I got ready in our room.

oooh! Good to know! I am definitely going to look into this. Thanks!

I just let my planner know that I would be interested, and not interested in paying, lol. Well I said it nicer than that, probably something about already having brunch plans and if it is possible to have the room without the minimum. And she put a note in the file, and when we reached the two week mark she let me know that there was a room available.

I just had my wedding on Saturday. I had 7 bridesmaids + me, getting ready in a dormer room (which is on the top floor and a few feet smaller than the others). The hair and makeup was crowded, but it worked out. Although, we did have the bridesmaids get dressed in another room. I know its not ideal, but it can be done!

I am so going to mention this to my planner...hopefully she'll come through!

When you saw a few feet smaller than the others, do you mean smaller than the regular rooms? Because we'll have three rooms there (my grandparents, my grandma, then my parents) so I could split the grandmas/moms and me/bridesmaids up! How many people were there doing everyone's hair and makeup?
