How exactly does this work? We will be in Florida next week and there is a possibility we may be able to visit one of the parks on my daughter's birthday. I'm assuming we need to bring a copy of her birth certificate? Thanks for your help!

Yes - you need a copy of the birth certificate. We also registered on Disney beforehand and printed out a free on your birthday certificate with a bar code and that we brought with us to the Will Call window. We printed out the certificate back in December when the promotion was first announced so I don't remember the exact link on the Disney website

Would a passport do for proof of birthday? I'd hate to have to travel with both a passport AND BC. Fine to lose one, but what if I lost both?

You need a certified copy of your Birth Certificate from whomever does this for your state. Not just something run through a xerox machine.

From the Disney Faq.

Q: What kind of identification do I need to show at the gate?

A: Proper valid identification would be a Driver's License including a photo, Government-issued Photo ID, or a Government-issued Passport. If you are under age 18 and don't have any of the above mentioned ID, an original or a certified copy of a Birth Certificate is required. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed government-issued photo IDs and will not be accepted.

If you just go to www.disney.com the offer should show up. Register and they will send you the certificate. Yup ... they want a real birth certificate for kids. We'll be leaving Disney the day before my birthday. No free day for me.

From Anita Answer at AllEars:

Q: Do I need to register online prior to going to Walt Disney World® Resort to receive free admission on my birthday?
A: As long as you have valid identification, including date of birth, you can take advantage of this birthday offer at the Walt Disney World® Will Call windows. The reason for registering your birthday online is to save you time. You won't have to wait while you fill out the forms at the Will Call windows.

Looks like registering beforehand is just to save time. As long as you have the proper proof of your birthday you'll be okay.

Have fun!!

A passport will work fine. It shows official birthdate. I'd use a passport over a birth certificate any day.

Either a passport OR a certified copy of a birth certificate is needed, not both. I plan on taking the birth certificate...much cheaper and easier to replace if lost than the birth certificate. At least for me. :goodvibes
