Getting frustrated where are the AP Discounts???

Searl says: I am Just Getting warmed up
Okay, someone's a little too excited about debating Disney price points.

Searl, don't bother - I won't be back to this thread.

You know what they say about arguing on the Internet and running in the Special Olympics - it applies here.

I hope that all of you who are waiting and hoping for AP Discounts get them.

TTFN,
Erick

Lets go back three months. It's April. Didn't we have this same thread? No AP rates announced for after 4/9, everyone getting impatient and irate. Then on 4/21 they were announced for 4/28 to 7/3 (skipping the Easter holiday). On 5/8 they were announced for 7/4 to 8/23. Then everyone was happy (unless they could not get their first choice). I'm confident they are coming. I have plane tickets for 10/1 to 10/6, the first time I ever booked air before a room (there was a sale, $160 a ticket, the lowest I ever paid). Checking online reservations on disney.com, almost every resort has rooms for this period, so FTP hasn't taken them all up. The last MM was May, rates came out late April, so my bet is more dates will be announced in the August MM, coming out late July.

Searl, Ok, so you don't like Disney pricing. DON"T GO.

What I don't understand is what you accomplish by posting this complaint here. Send it to someone who can do something. Most of us don't want to listen to your rabble.

My theory is that I can vacation where I want. If I decide Disney is too expensive that is my call. I figure the people on this board could care less. However insulting people who do chose to go is just plain rude.

It’s nice to know that not everyone on these boards are sheep.

I am with an earlier poster. I have just left this thread. Hopefully someone will post another one if the APs come out. In the meantime I recommend everyone just check Mousesavers daily Mary is VERY reliable.

Just saw on the interent a room at the Plaza Hotel in NY for $209.
Of course that is a discounted rate, but still a good rate. Disney rooms are WAY overpriced. I live in south FL. You can get any 4 star hotel for $159 or less. I'm the one who said my dad says he's NEVER paid rack rate anywhere in his life. If I did not get such great FL Res rates, I would be offsite. Calypso Cay(Country Inn and Suites) looks really good. Often the rooms and suites can be had for $49-$64 (for anyone). They have free breakfast , pool slide, and it's 3 minutes from the disney gate on osceola (I timed it). I LOVE onsite and would not go back off ,unless they take away my discount! A lady at my son's preschool knew nothing about the discounts (she is a FL Res and AP holder). We were talking about disney and she could not believe the prices I was quoting her. She said they paid $186 at POFQ and they thought it wasn't worth it. Of course it's not! I gave her the codes from mousesavers and she says her husband still can't believe it!

Searl;
Hawaii in 2004? You may not think Disney prices are so bad after you return. A lot of places in Hawaii have two prices; one for residents, and another for tourists. I think Disney prices are in line with other tourist hotspots. All of them try to get as much of your money as they can.

Dear CarolA

My apologies for getting so worked up on this matter. I have very strong feelings, and as like most of you here I am a Disney Fanatic.

I’m thinking this should be carried over to the debate board.

Searl, Ok, so you don't like Disney pricing. DON"T GO.

Come on CarolA I know you could do better than this if you put your mind to it. As I said before this will be our last trip to the World, at least for a while.

What I don't understand is what you accomplish by posting this complaint here. Send it to someone who can do something. Most of us don't want to listen to your rabble.

CarolA Ill try to explain it to you. Maybe I am wrong But aren't these boards filled with complaints and folks rambling on.
I have read over and over how the folks at Disney read these boards. I am thinking if enough people stated their opinion it might get back to them. But you are right in one respect I should and will voice my concerns directly to Disney, as I am not a Sheep. I am not willing to roll over and play dead. CarolA What do you mean by most of us don’t want to listen to me ramble on? Are you now the unofficial spokesperson for these boards? Who gave you the right to decide what is rambling and what is not? Ok if you haven’t been elected to the Chief of the Rambling Police you got my vote.

My theory is that I can vacation where I want. If I decide Disney is too expensive that is my call. I figure the people on this board could care less. However insulting people who do chose to go is just plain rude.

CarolA I agree with you theory you have the right to vacation where ever you want and I’m thinking just about every one on these boards could care less, that’s not the issue. CarolA I don’t remember insulting anyone that chose not to go.

My definition of a sheep is someone who is willing to blindly follow the status quo. A Person who is not willing to stand up for their beliefs. A person who when the fire gets hot they get the heck out of the kitchen. And to think the oven was only on keep warm when you and the Dr. left the room.

When you purchase an AP, you are purchasing the right to enter all four WDW theme parks for 365 consecutive days as many times and for as long as you want. I firmly believe you are not purchasing the right to resort discounts, that's not what you paid for.

As for a discount not being available to passholders yet, I believe that is due to discounts being used to incent AP holders to take an unplanned trip they would not have taken otherwise. This is not an uncommon practice for many resort destinations and theme parks. Most people who purchase a WDW AP are FL residents or are within a relatively short driving distance of WDW. So they can take these unplanned trips. The AP was not designed to offer more than ticket admission. It works out nicely for those that can take advantage of close in resort offers, but of course that is the intent!

Please also remember that when AP holders and FL Residents are given the discounted room offers, they have an advantage no others have, they can book their room/get a discount up to day of arrival. They are the only ones who can do that. Which means, if you cannot get the discount on your already reserved room when the codes first come out, you have the opportunity to get the price reduced up to day of arrival! So unless the resort you're staying at is booked up for some reason, like a holiday or an event, then you will most likely get that reduced rate. That is a great advantage!

I believe you underestimate the number of AP holders outside FL or a short (4-6 hour) drive from WDW. I would bet the vast majority of AP holders live outside that area.

Perhaps we could do an "unofficial" survey of disboard AP members?

I am an AP holder and live in Maryland. If we drive straight through with no overnighters, which we do not, it would take us 15 hours. Instead, we stop over twice each way. We go 2-3 times a year.

NY here :bounce: Takes us 2+ hours to fly or 23 hours to drive. We go at least 2 times a year, sometimes more.

Pennsylvania AP holders here. We drive straight through and go at least twice a year for 7+ day trips. We have also been known to fly down for a few long weekends when we can get great plane and AP room rates.

Outside of Chicago, 20hr drive 2.5hr plane ride. At least 3x's a year. We have been AP holders for 3 yrs.

I am hoping for discounts but we will go with or without them.:D

Virginia AP holders here. It takes us roughly 12 hours to drive. By the time our AP's expire in Spet, we will have been 4 times.

Sept $20.02 rate at Courtyard by Marriot DTD
Feb $109 AP rate for AKL
April offsite rental home
Aug Comeback rate for ASMovies (about $50 a night with taxes)

We don't normally stay on Disney property. IMO the prices for all of the hotels are way overpriced for what you get. They charge ridiculous prices for deluxe hotels and you don't even get a mini fridge or free breakfast.

Hi LVSTNK!

We are in Bartlett IL too. We are going Aug 30, and booked the Radison with the buy one room get one half price. Got tired of calling WDW and checking for AP codes. We ended up with under $100 per night for 2 rooms, breakfast all week included, so even with a rental car its $$$ less than even the All Star if Disney never offers discounts for AP holders.

Has anyone from FL replied yet that is an AP holder?

So far the unnofficial survey looks like all non FL AP members.

CT APs here. We have a mix of on and off site planned for our next four trips.

CBM 20$ rate in August--Annversary Treat
BWV, BCV and AKL in October
Rented Pool Villa for Christmas with brother's CA family
Camping trip FW in April 2004.

We both fly and drive to WDW.

NJ here, 2.5 hr plane ride, or 18 hour drive. We used to go twice a year, but have discovered HH DVC, so we go once a year to WDW, but get two trips out of our APs(for ex. last year we went in late Oct., this year we'll be there late Sept.)..there is always that possibility of a long weekend every so often too. ;)

IL here, too. 2.5 hour flight or 21 hour drive. Four times a year for last two years and three times/year for a couple of years before that. Before we bought APs we most often went once a year and did the equivalent of the gold package. Once we started going more than once/year the APs made more sense (we always got more than our money's worth out of the packages BTW).

A friend of mine is planning her first trip. I gave her Mary's site to go to and told her of all the discounts I know of. Well, her mother-in-law is a self proclaimed disney nut and goes every year to CBR. When my friend told her how often we go and the discounts we get ($169/night BWI, $199/night Grand Floridian), her m-i-l told her I was a liar and there are no such deals!!!!

Whatever pay rack rate - I will still wait for my AP rates

By the way we are AP holders from MA and my sister is also. ;)
