Getting Bummed by reports

Whoever said a bad day at Disney is better than a good day at work hit the nail on the head!!!!! :thumbsup2
Yes, I've had some unbelieveable trips to Disney, some beyond decent ones, and some "eh" trips. But every single time, I have experienced all sorts of Disney magic. And not all from CMs or characters at all. No, it was seeing my niece get all excited about the teacups or that little girl all excited about Minnie greeting guests. It was the haircut my dad got at the Main St. Barber Shop and the picture we took of her using giant scissors on his head. (God I wish I could find that picture!) It was seeing the dragon from Mulan (name? Hello, I forget) wandering around in China in the little backstreets and greeting everyone, taking the time to care. The bus driver that went at breakneck speeds to get me and my friend back to AS Music to get the ME (Hey, we're from Boston, we're used to it.). Kids darting around trying to avoid Stitch's spitting at World of Disney. I think the magic really lives in the KIDS, not so much the CMs. I've run into a lot of poor CMs, but I never let that bring me down. No, I'm at Disney, NOT my job! I've been known to cry like a baby when driving to MCO. I remember the days of two parks and barely any hotels. I'd FAR rather have it now, cut backs or not. So there's some construction. There's construction at your local mall or stores. Yeah, you're on vacation to escape all that, but still, does Mickey Mouse walk around near that construction at your store?? Well, maybe some construction workers may be considered Mickey or Dopey, but I digress ......
I know some people do want the full experience that we have all had if they have not experienced it, and yes, I do miss some of the cutbacks, but I am NOT going to complain about it. I don't find it necessary. When we were checking in, I saw one woman just yelling at the manager at AS Movies. I don't know what it was all about, and personally, I didn't want to know. It was my trip, wasn't going to let her get me down. We had a great time and it was all about my nieces. That was where the magic was. That and harassing a CM who was from 20 minutes down the road.

I've been lurking here reading the different responses and just have to add in. I consider myself to be a WDW newbie our family has been going to WDW since and we became DVC members in 2007.
Now for me Disney is about seeing my children enjoy the magic and letting them have trips they'll remember long after I'm gone. I enjoy Disney because it's my escape from what I see everyday in my job. I go because I know I get more for my money that I would get at an amusement park which is only an hour away from my home.
In all of our trips to Disney I can honestly say our family only had one bad dining experience and it has never ruined any other trips.
We've been to WDW for Christmas, Halloween during Spring and Summer and each time our trips are just as magical as the first.
We have four children and have introduced them to WDW one by one we have our youngest who is only six months old and I can't wait for 2010 to come for his first true WDW trip and just to see the look in his eyes when we walk into main St. USA or when he sees Mickey for the first time.
For me and my family you can't put a price on that. I always know where the magic is, it's in our hearts.
Thanks Walt!!

DON'T GET BUMMED!!

I started one of the most recent threads about our experience. Yes, it's looking shabby around the edges and the castmembers are being asked to do far more than in the past.

2009 is not going to be a great year for Disney....if the auto dealers go down they will also loose many large buckets of advertising dollars GM is behind payment on for ESPN time.

Yes, it's going to be tough everywhere.

I never said we had a BAD time however.

This particular trip was different than any Disney trip we have ever experienced. For the first time, I was.....labeled handicapped. I had an ankle injury which prevented any walking in addition to another problem with simply sapps my energy.

My DH and I met at WDW 4 years ago and we were go from early to late PM people.

This time.....we actually accomplished very little according to many here.

We woke early and had a comfortable pace --- afternoon nap for me and then ended most days with Illuminations and a scoot around World Showcase after everyone left.

I have not been well....plus I have not been able to walk well in 6 months. With my scooter I could FLY again and DID.

What we experienced was something different. We found joy in more simple things vs how many times we cold ride BTMRR. We took photographs of flowers, watched children with the characters, entertained friends in our decorated villa and had a wonderfully romantic 10 days at WDW.

I no longer have many WDW trips left and hopefully I'll be walking the next time. I'll remember this trip the rest of my life.

Yes, WDW does look a little shabby to those of us who know every inch inside and out....yes, the menu's can be disappointing (we walked out of the castle because the menu was the same as Boatrights the night before), yes the parking lots need paint....but the magic is still there.

Those of us who love our trips to WDW or DL will have to look the other way for a while. Happily, many who travel more infrequently may not know there are fewer Christmas decorations or than Fantasmic is no longer shown every night...twice.

Just outside the WELCOME TO WALT DISNEY WORLD sign is a large dumpster....have you ever noticed it? It's where you leave ALL your emotional baggage -- all your troubles and your worries. Yes, they are waiting for you when you leave to return home....but inside the gates you can still be happy.

Go....leave your baggage in the dumpster and have a ball!
