Getting breakfast in your PJs?

Leaving your room in pajamas is beyond tacky!! I've occasionally seen kids in pjs in a food court and that was tacky enough - made me wonder what was wrong with that family. I wasn't alone in that thinking, either - so I would imagine an adult would certainly get (& deserve) some raised eyebrows and disgusted looks).

Like someone said - it takes no time at all to pull on some shorts, shirt & shoes....to be in public we should be dressed for public places.

I think if you have cool Mickey sleep pants and a tshirt or tank top I say Go for IT

I personally wouldn't do it because I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so. That being said, I really don't pay attention to what other people are wearing provided they are covered because I am too busy enjoying my vacation. So, if you don't feel uncomfortable wearing PJ's to the food court, go for it. It is your vacation and as long as you are not walking around in something like see through baby doll jammies, you are harming no one. You will probably be more covered then some of other women. Enjoy your trip. Everyone should have a great time at Mouseland.

I don't really think its a big deal - people dress a lot worse (men in cut off shirts without sleeves, ripped jeans, waaaay too short shorts, and then there is the hygiene problem some park guests have - YUCK!).

But then again I can see why you would do it - get everyone food so they can eat and you can get ready, probably saves time so it makes sense to me! If I was considering that I wouldn't want to dress just to undress again and take a shower, do my hair etc.!

Maybe I wouldn't care if I wasn't going to shower in the mornings before a park day? But if I'm gonna shower before going to get breakfast and get all ready for the day might as well get the whole family up and eat downstairs!

That being said, this is all just a supposition as I don't have any kids and so my husband and I usually call breakfast up to the room or get ready for the day and eat in a hotel restaurant.

I would do it. And if people stared and called me tacky, well thats their problem. They dont know that I might have a room full of tacky pajamed kids that if they do not eat something soon are going to have fits or worse want to throw a tantrum at the food court so that all of you downlookers to us pajama wearing, breakfast toting folks can roll your eyes at our missbehaving hungry and probably overtired kids.

Okay, maybe that was a little over the top but please people, Its pajamas and she wasn't even talking about eating at the food court. Oh and by the way if you sleep in sweats and a t-shirt can you wear that and not be called tacky.

So maybe next time you see someone in pj's (tasteful ones) at the food court you wont be so GRUMPY about it.

6:30 am - not like there is gonna be an abundance of people there.

Its your vacation and if YOU are comfortable running to get Breakfast then so be it.

I have a PJ set that is Red / Black mickeys with a Black top that looks like a T-shirt and I wear it in the BC Concierge lounge all the time. And people ask where I got it.

There are bigger battles while on vacation - let the fashion police pick on someone else.

I'm pretty sure I have been to the Pop food court late at night for an ice cream sundae or cheesecake in PJ pants and a t-shirt...but I definitely had a bra on

I'm surprised at the responses...whats the big deal, you are on vacation!

I have some Thumper PJ pants that I bought in WDW that I would have no problem wearing to the food court! Girls wear PJ pants to school and to the mall nowadays so I don't see it as being offensive or anything like that. I would definitely make sure I have on...umm..undergarments and I'm not the kind of girl to show up in booty shorts or anything like that. But to me, PJ pants, especially Disney ones, are A-OK with me! And like someone else said, a lot of people sleep in a t-shirt and sweat pants/yoga pants but would also wear those same types of items out in public so how would anyone know the difference in that case?

I'd do it! I am not a morning person, nor am I very fashion conscientious. I dress for myself and comfort. I am of the live and let live mentality. Unless your doing something that HARMS me or others I really could care less.

I don't see that big of a difference between PJs and sweats and a T-shirt. I'd do it and not care what others thought. You're never going please everyone - so just work on pleasing yourself

This entire thread is an example of the downward spiral of western civilization. People used to get dressed up for dinner, now they're going to the food court in their PJ's. Seriously, when did it become OK to go out in public in your pajamas?

OK, I have a pair of Tinkerbell PJs. They are capri pants and a tank top. ON my last stay at POP, I walked down to the laundry room in my Tinkerbell PJs (with undergarments on) to put our clothes in the washing machines and then I walked back down to put them into the dryer. I say if they look like clothes...go for it and I would recommend wearing a bra as another poster said. There are LOTS of clothes today that people wear for reasons other than the ones they were intended for.

Yes we used to get dressed for dinner (although we are talking breakfast) and yes women used to do as they were told and slavery used to be acceptable and kids were meant to be seen and not heard....

So you are saying we are less civilized now? I think the opposite!

This goes to show that people have more freedom to dress as they feel fit! I think if anything its a move in the right direction, especially when you look at it from a woman's perspective!

Depends on what you mean by PJs. Are you talking silk robe and neglige (sp?) ....ABSOLUTELY NOT.

I wear cotton drawstring pants to bed along with a big t-shirt- usually matching (so if the pants are pink, white and navy blue striped, the shirt is navy blue). I have been known on a # of occasions to frequent the grocery store (in the middle of the night), walgreens (in the middle of the night) or Taco Bell (middle of the night) or Tim Hortons (in the morning) in this type of outfit. Especially in the summer. I just toss on flip flops and I'm good to go! I also grab the mail and the paper like this every weekend.

I find people dressed like this all time when I'm out and I see no problem with it.

I also have a 3/4 length drawstring pant that is pink and a black and pink Tink shirt that is part of a matching set. I throw on a pair of pink flip flops and fit right into breakfast at ASMU at 6:00!

I don't really get what the big deal is I think as long as you're covered, you're fine. I see people dressing a lot worse. I'd much rather see some cute Mickey pj's than some 30 something woman who is trying to look like her teenaged daughter. And for someone who said kids in pj's in the food court bother them..seriously?? I frequently put my ds in pj's if he just had a bath and we have to run somewhere..what is the big deal?

It's a kid thing. You see high school students doing it all the time - I believe, in our area (south shore), it first started with the 'jocks' saying their flannel pj bottoms were 'cover ups' for their shorts.

IMHO - The way I was raised, it shows lack of respect & laziness. Even when I was in Disney with my kids and we all had the flu I got fully dressed, brush my hair & a quick makeup job before hitting the store for juices & ibuprofen. Did I want to? Heck no - I was aching so bad it took me almost 2 hours to pull myself together, if I could do it then anyone can do it.

That said, I think I'd rather see someone wearing jammies in stores & food areas of the resorts over a bathing suit, bikini or... *gasp* ... a speedo.

Well, for me and my family, not happenin'. But, I could see where some teens might do it, lets face it, that's what alot of them where to school these where we live, so why not.

I wouldn't do it. I don't wear PJ's out of the house. I personally don't like to see people roaming around in their PJ's and slippers. People wear them to the mall! How hard is it to put on clothes?
