Getting autographs on vinylmations....

I have read conflicting information on whether or not you can get autographs on blank 9" white Mickey Vinylmations. Can anybody confirm if they can or not? Specifically for Walt Disney World? And do you have any fun suggestions on what to get autographs on other than a book? Thank you!

I hope so too! I was just about to buy one but I kept reading that face characters were saying no because they weren't allowed too (except they were saying it in Disney fashion). I read that Disney doesn't want them to because they are afraid of liability if it breaks while they are holding it??

I really want it signed by characters, but my backup plan if they don't is to take it around Epcot and have somebody at each country write Merry Christmas on it since we are going in December. Ofcourse, that is assuming they would do that.

We did it on our Cruise back in 2011. Gave Customer Service a bag with Sharpies and about 5 vinylmations (1 for each family member) and they came back with everyone's signatures! Also, for something fun other than a book... I put a photo mat in the bag with the vinylmations, and had all the characters sign it. Then, we picked a picture out of all of us in front of the grand staircase on the Disney Dream, and used the autographed photomat with the picture. It turned out pretty cool. I just drew a line in pencil around the mat where they shouldn't write (because otherwise it would get hidden in the frame) and it turned out perfect. I might do the same thing for our Disney World trip this year, only use a picture of us in front of the Castle instead. Other ideas that were brought up during our cruise planning were pillow cases, shirts, hats, etc... all kinds of things were being sent to CS for signing. Lol I imagined our Crew members down in the bottom, drinking it up and having a big autograph party the night before debarkation!

WHA?!?!?! NOOOOO!!! of course we had our Autograph books, but it was Sooooo easy to just drop things off and pick it up already signed, especially for shirt, photo mats, etc.

Of course at the parks we'll have to carry the shirts and mat...

Whoever told you that had to be puling your leg. You can't break a vinylmation. They are um, vinyl. As in plastic/rubber. If it were dropped, it would bounce. Not break
They signed ours last year, no questions asked.

And I have to ask, what fun is it to drop your gear off and have it signed by someone when you aren't there? Getting the autograph, talking about the item, is part of the fun. I can't imagine handing it off to some staff members and having it brought back signed. No thank you. I like to find different things to get signed and talking about them is part of the fun

We did do autograph books. But dropping them off was a way also of getting ALL the characters autographs. We weren't able to get to all the meet n greets, or, they closed the line off on some of our M&G's so we weren't able to get the autographs. We also had a child who was deathly TERRIFIED of characters, so this was a way she could get autographs w/o actually having to see them.

Worked for us.

One thing about vinylmations, and maybe it was just us, but over the years (we got ours in 2012) the ink has faded. We used Sharpies, and don't handle them except to pack when we move, otherwise they sit on a bookshelf. But when I looked the other day, the autographs had faded considerably. Might take them back and have them redone this year.

Also, I just thought of another idea tonite. We're going over Christmas, so I thought buying a matte white ornament and bringing red/green sharpies would be awesome for autographs. We also had done clear ornaments and stuffed the Mickey head confetti into them from our previous WDW trip (the ones they throw at the parades), so the autographed ornament would look pretty cool next to the Mickey confetti one.

I have never seen a vinylmation but it is on my list for next year's trip. Our first trip I bought 12 x 18 frame matting. We met so many characters, we used both sides so I bought double sided acrylic photo frame to put it in along with a photo of the girls in the center picture spot. Last year, I found white pillow cases with pink Mickey heads on them. Brought clipboards thinking it would make it easier for the characters to sign the pillow cases on but also discovered that I have to pull the fabric tightly over the board as they signed it to allow the sharpie to move easily. Snow White luckily explained this trick to us on our arrival night at CRT.
