Get Outside - It's October! - Exercise Challenge - EVERYONE WELCOME!

Congrats! That's an awesome time!

Congrats! I really enjoyed reading your race recap. Races are so addictive, so I love that you are already planning your next one :) Keep up the great work!

Thank you!!!

From Desiree: 39 minute run today for a 5K. Here's a race recap if anyone is interested in reading. Yelp! 5K or the best worst run I have ever had

Desiree!!! I read your race report and I think your run was awesome! You should be so proud that you faced your fear and completed your race. I saw a quote from RunnersWorld magazine that I am trying to keep in mind for my first long race, where I'm terrified of finishing last.

"Last is just the final winner!"

You are a winner for getting out there, sticking with it, and working to improve yourself. CONGRATS :cheer2:

Aww thanks so much! I haven't heard that one before!

Desiree - awesome race report! I wanted to say that I wish I had your attitude when I started running. I tried track in the eighth grade and decided I didn't like it because I wasn't fast. I ran the 800 once and came in such dead last that people cheered for me to cross the finish. In the 800 (only two laps!) I decided that I hated running because it was "stupid." Took me a while to realize what/who was really stupid! I wish I had not cared so much about what other people thought. It took until late college to try it again, and then took another six years or so to really stick. Running is now something that I love because it's healthy and fun, and I do it for me. I usually finish in the back of the pack but the goal is really to say I did the training and stuck to a plan. Only recently have I started to get any faster, but there had to be a huge mental shift and a dedication to just doing it to do it before anything happened with my time goal. Who cares if you're last? You did it, and accomplished a goal that you set out to meet. That's huge and that outlook goes a long way. I hope you keep blogging, I really enjoyed reading!

Thank you so much for your kind words! And awesome for getting back to running! Yep, I do plan on it! I think between the blog and My Fitness Pal, those 2 things have helped so much and made this whole lifestyle change stick! Plus it keeps me honest and I like to be able to post when I struggle too just so that I will see (in the future) just how far I've come!

22 minute walk yesterday brings me to 446/1600.

23 minutes for me yesterday, pushing me up to 91/1200. I need to up my game, but dh is out of town and I have malaise.

great trail walk with a co-worker after hours.

420 / 1500

60 minutes around the lake. I've been really good this month because I knew tomorrow through Friday I'm probably not going to get a chance to do anything! Very busy with guests in town. Hoping to squeeze runs in the morning this weekend, but it will be tight!

30 minute run with my dog (who LOVES running) and a 5 minute cool down walk (which she did not enjoy...it was too slow for her :) ).

274/900
Thanks!

15 minutes elliptical
45 minutes personal training with Killer Kyle (weights, core)

Brings me to 430/1200

I'm sad that my half-marathon is cancelled this weekend. I was looking forward to the distance and being in a beautiful national park and those exercise minutes. I'll have to find a way to make up the time during the rest of the month.

60 min run this morning & 15 min walk with my dog
475/1500 last long run till my 1/2 this Sat.
Thanks for hosting :)
