get Organized thread

well you can either add it into the front porch or if there is another room/area that wont take as long then you can combine it with that. For instance, my entry way wont take as much time so I will combine my back porch with that area.

I actually started my front porch last night, before I read this thread! I must be psychic!!:cool1:

Hello everyone  I like this thread. Great ideas. I am moving MYSELF in 2 weeks to SO. CAL. DH is already there (May 20th). I am not selling my MASS house (DS is getting married 06/09 and I want to have the house to come back and forth to until the wedding.) :goodvibes

Anyhoo, I started my cleaning 2 weeks ago. I have been going room to room. I have been to Goodwill and "People in Peril" dropping off clothes. I am throwing out items I have not used in sometime. Organizing every single drawer in the house. (We built the house 3 years ago so I cleaned out allot prior to moving into the new house.)

IT JUST FEELS SO GOOD TO GET EVERYTHING IN ORDER!!!! :thumbsup2

Good luck to everyone as you get your homes all organized!!!! :yay:

I need to do this. I weeded yesterday. I need to trim my shrubs. I also have a few dirt dobber nest that I noticed near the front door up high. Yuck!

We'll be working on the porch and deck this weekend. I have been in the guest/junk room today and the kids' playroom. We are just a bunch of pack rats!! If you don't hear back from me...someone call 911, because I got lost in the jungle of stuff!!:goodvibes

I'm in! This is just what I need to get myself going again. I used to do this but recently, not so much!

Hey Binny, I'm in!!!

I didn't think anyone else did OrganizedHome or Holidays here on the DIS. I'm excited to have a thread on it. I have her book and I love it.

Today, I plan on sweeping the front porch. It's rainy and cold (64 brrrr)
Thursday: Hose down porch/door and mat
Friday: touch up door and clean window panes on the sides.
Saturday and Sunday: weed front beds and add summer wreath to door.

I'm going to start. Can't promise I will make it to the finish but it feels like my house is so full of crap. I probably have about a bazillion kids toys I could get rid of.

I'm finishing up the weeding today and I'll sweep the walkway. Our porch area is looking really good. I used the Magic eraser on my front door and got a lot of the scuffs off and it looks new. I love that stuff!

I will start the foyer today. It won't take me long to do, so I will also work on the den; which is off the foyer. I will come back tomorrow and post a break down of days and jobs.

How is everyone doing?

Well, while I went shopping yesterday :), DH cleaned the porch. :thumbsup2 What a good little doobie he is. He didn't, however, get the dog drool/wet nose marks off the door. I'll do that today.

My front porch was beautiful until we had a heck of a windstorm whip through last night! :furious:

Oh well, I will sweep again.

Its Dhs birthday today so I am taking the day off tomorrow though we will start the foyer and front hall closet. :scared1:

I need to do some cleaning and organizing, too. We have a pile of wedding gifts still sitting in the living room. They are homeless for now! I am kind of like Moncia on Friends- you know how she was a neat freak but had that scary disaster of a closet she tried to hise from Chandler? Yep. That's me. I have certain areas I shove stuff in the event of a cleaning emergency. The trouble is, I rarely get back to them and replace the things to their rightful homes!

Thanks for the website. I need to get motivated also.

Sorry about your wind storm binny. Hopefully you got it all cleaned up and it's looking pretty again.

I'm behind in my foyer cleaning, although it's not in need of a lot of attention. I'll make a list now, because I usually can stick to it if I leave it here too.
Thursday: clean light fixtures (4) and around door moldings and doors (3).
Friday: Clean stairs and railing and wipe down collums.
Saturday: Sweep out closet (nothing in there) and wipe down baseboards.
Sunday: Clean hardwood floors

Have fun everyone!

So how did everyone do?

I have "rehomed" many of the things that were in my closet.

What do you all do for out of season clothes that you know you will need again next year?

Ok so we are to the Living room this week, what is your plan there?
Mine is in fairly decent shape. I should clean out the fireplace though. yuck. Will probably clean the carpets in there too.

I'm doing o.k. The light fixtures in the foyer was a pain, but it's done and we're on to the next thing.

Living room. We don't have much in this room, because we moved the couch and chair down to the basement for our new family room. I have to wait until next winter to get new furniture for that room. It's pretty empty in there, except a piano and love seat. That's it.

Tuesday: baseboards in foyer and den
Wednesday: clean ceiling fan and light fixture and blinds.
Thursday: clean windows and dust mantle and piano--fireworks
Friday: 4th of July -- No cleaning
Saturday: bbq with in laws at our house --spot clean kitchen and bathroom for guests in the morning.
Sunday: clean baseboards and carpet

ok well I cleaned out the fireplace yesterday *cough cough* what a nasty job! Chimney sweep, another job I can cross of my list of things I would like to do!

Oh well its done and it looks great! :)
