get Organized thread

What a cool thread, I am excited to join in. I live in a 2-bedroom apartment with my roommate & cat (so no porch for me either). I'm eager to get started on organizing and cleaning out everything - my first attempt to clean the living room was last Sunday, and while I scrubbed it down, threw stuff out, and reorganized, I also managed to stub my toe so badly on the vacuum cleaner that I broke it! :headache: Not very encouraging!
My bedroom will be the big scary one....it has a turret in it too...maybe the turret can be my front porch :rotfl:

I'm so sorry you broke your toe. OUCH! :headache:

It's great to have one more thats added onto our group of cleaners. I'm trying to get this placed cleaned up before the fall so I can just maintain and do other projects outside at that time.

After a long weekend of doing nothing, I'm back and ready to start again tomorrow. My living room isn't 100% complete, but good enough.

I'm working on the office this week. It needs a little attention and cleaning, so I'll do this room. Most of it is purging and organizing the files. Also reorganizing the mail center for paying bill and getting rid of junk mail. I'm in the process of making up a list today for the next week or two. I'm hoping to get back on track after this holiday weekend.

ok well I cleaned out the fireplace yesterday *cough cough* what a nasty job! Chimney sweep, another job I can cross of my list of things I would like to do!

Oh well its done and it looks great! :)

Sounds like a pleasant job. Now I'm thankful for having a gas fireplace, but really do miss real fires.

yeah not fun but I do love to burn fires in the winter. Its worth it I think :)

Ok, everybody take a deep breath. this week is the kitchen *gasp* I know I know. BUT it is for the best I promise you!

I have been working my hiney off this week because we are having a yard sale on Saturday. I need to get to the kitchen and the toy room this week. Also probably my closet, which is really another room in itself. Its huge.

Wont be around much this week because of it but I will be working make sure you check in ok? If we dont hear from you we will know to call in the reinforcements :thumbsup2

Binny, how'd your yard sale go (a bit belated)? We live on a narrow road...no parking on the street...so it would be difficult for us to have a yard sale. Yeah, that's right...narrow road. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. ;) We make trips to the Salvation Army every other week or so...it feels SO good. :)

We are doing a lot more cleaning out, now that we're down to one full-time child at home. I tend to be very sentimental, and loaded my house with stuff from my 85 yr old mother's house when I cleaned it out to sell. My sibs live all over the place, and are older than me, so everyone is pretty well established with their own "stuff". Some nieces took some stuff, but my DSis from Arizona is coming soon, and we just HAVE TO get rid of stuff. If she wants it, she can ship it home, or get a storage facility near here (altho, she OWNS a storage facility business in Arizona), which I want to have NOTHING to do with.

Anyway...my organization tip du jour. Bed Bath and Beyond has these over the bed dorm storage shelves...I got the twin sized one for DS's room (at home...he's 15) last summer...I cleaned out and organized his room while he was at camp...and he's been doing great keeping it (fairly) clean! :thumbsup2

Recently, I got the full bed sized one (on sale...dorm clearance $50 minus 20% off) and today DH set it up over our washer and dryer. Great storage for laundry products. We have a front loader, so the bottom shelf is a few inches above the top of the washer/dryer. It frees up the shelves that were next to the washer and dryer for other things. The height of the shelves are adjustable, and I have just about an inch/inch 1/2 on either side between washer/dryer and the legs of the unit.
