Get Off The Ship - we are running out of towel animals! Update 10/25 Day 31

Loving the pics Karin! Nutella dairy? Huh...don't tell my kids that. Off to the calendars. Tom does such a great job and I'm totally slacking this season

I love Palo brunch. Sounds like Ophelie made it even more special!

Jill in CO

We love it too! And we really try to go every time we cruise! :thumbsup2 Ophelie was sweet, especially since she was from Paris and go there a lot. :goodvibes

Love the update !! That Brunch is fantastic I loved the look of both halves of pizza !!!I never would have considered Nutella a dairy either !!!!!

You really need to try and get a Palo reservation next time you cruise, Rosie. The food is outstanding and if I remember correctly, you do like blue cheese, don't you? You would love the blue cheese and grape pizza - sooooooo good! :thumbsup2

I am now going to spend the rest of the night singing the Small World song! :earseek:

I am glad you like them. Yip - Nutella is dairy in Disney's universe :rotfl2:, not in mine though. :rotfl:
Great to hear that you enjoy the calendars. Even though I have taken all the photos it is so neat to wait and see which one he picked for which day. :thumbsup2

Just so you know ..........

we are officially in the teens for our DLRP trip! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
19 days and today is almost over.

And in exactly 2 months we will be on a plane to Orlando for our February break. VGF, Disney Dream, OKW here we coooooooooome! :cool1:

Hmmm, if Nutella is dairy then it is a health food so I can eat it all the time. I like the Disney logic! :rotfl2:

Hi Teri1! Glad to see that you're still here too! We are currently booked for the Dream again in 2014 over the same time as the cruise we were on with you. It's the 3 day this time since our anniversary falls on day 2 of the cruise. I am now going to spend the rest of the night singing the Small World song! :earseek:
Hello! Glad to hear you are sailing on the Dream again, a great way to celebrate your anniversary. My DH said to tell your DH hello, he enjoyed talking with him on the sail away. We sailed back in Sept. on the Fantasy, we loved it so much we plan to sail on the Fantasy again in 2015, hopefully with our friends Karin and Tom. It's a small small small small world! Lol!

Glad you got the problems taken care of.
Woohoo on the upgrade for the flight. I think I would have done it home to relax. LOL
Nice views on your tour.
The drink sounds good.
Gorgeous pics. The zip line looked like fun.
The buffet looked good.
All caught up.

Haha, Andrew would tell you that alcohol ALWAYS makes everything better.

The views in St.Thomas are gorgeous! I really look forward to visiting in the future.

The funny hats advent calendar is SO FUNNY!~ I'm cracking up at every picture! Good job, Tom!

All these food pictures are making me home sick...We only have an induction stove top in our kitchen so there's not a lot of Western foods we can make. I especially miss charcuterie! 4 slices of Prosciutto here cost about $10 USD because they import it from Europe.

Wow, that lunch you had looked amazing! I had no idea we could designate servers. I'll have to look into that.

/
More yummy food pictures. But this time it's not making me hungry because I have a terrible cold and have no taste buds at the moment. :(

I'm glad you were able to arrange to get your server again for your next meals. It's always good to have someone you know and enjoy.

Yay for only the teens until your trip.

What a great idea, Jill! It IS great thinking on Disney's point. I never thought of Nutella as a health food. :rotfl2: Off to get the jar and a spoon. :lmao:

I was happy they were able to solve our MB dilemma. I am really looking forward to finally be able to book FP+.
The upgrade is a godsend for us and let me explain why we chose it to go TO the US.
Flying comfortably and being able to relax and sleep and first to get off the plane in the US and at the beginning of the line for immigration is totally worth it for us. We have a late flight (shortly before 9pm) home and will be tired enough to sleep, even in economy. ;) :lmao:

We just love Palo brunch. :cloud9:

Alcohol definitely made the "Safari taxi" more bearable. :rotfl2:

Both St. Thomas and St. Martin were beautiful and we hope to return there soon. :goodvibes

I am glad you enjoy the calendar! Tom loves making and sharing them.

They try to keep you with the same servers even in the high end restaurants. That way you get to know your servers well and they know YOU! We have made great friends that way. :thumbsup2

Days at sea are days FULL of food. :lmao:

It was nice to know that we would have Ophelie as our server again and it sent us on a quest to find some Nutella for her. ;)

Sorry to hear that you are sick, Kathy. Get better soon.

Day 9, August 15

Let’s see what the kitchen has to offer …. - Part 3

When we finally arrived at the side entrance of the Royal Court there were already a lot of people waiting.
A cast member went to check the tickets and we were all handed a wipe before we were allowed to enter the restaurant. The chef was already waiting for us in the kitchen.

It was impressive to have a peek behind the scenes. The head chef explained that the kitchen was actually divided into two, one for the Royal Court and one for Animator’s Palate. He answered a lot of questions that came up while he walked us through the actual kitchen and its stations.

The tour took about 45 minutes and before we left through Animator’s,

we all were given a fresh, oven warm cookie!

Yum! More food. And back we went to our stateroom. We needed to rest for a while and there was nothing better than to watch a little TV and enjoy a drink out of our fridge.
But we did not have all that much time, we had some other reservations we needed to go to. Our next appointment led us to Ooh La La, the champagne bar for a Tequila tasting. There were two cast members there and a lot of people were already seated. We were lucky to find two seats together, as people arriving late were actually split up to fit the left over seats. A few minutes after we had taken our seats the tasting began and first we all sampled some Tequila shots.

Now, the first one tasted really aweful for me. Not my kind of drink at all. The second one was a bit better and I finally liked the third one, which was the most expensive and oldest one. Yes, I am that kind of a girl, I like the expensive stuff.
Our next two drinks were two Margarita’s, which were both quite nice but had already gotten a bit warm. Some of us asked for some ice to put into our drinks and cooled down they were really good. The cast members answered all the questions some of the participants in the tasting had, but once it was over we headed on. I could feel the alcohol already, but wanted something with another taste, so we just walked over to O’Gills,

where Tom got a glass of their ale,

while I opted for an Irish Coffee.

Little did I know they had to go “somewhere else” to get the coffee for the Irish Coffee, downside being that the finished product was not really hot when it finally reached our table. But it hit the spot, the coffee, infused with some whiskey was tasty and the huge topping of whipped cream made it a really tasty treat.
Liquid food consumed we headed back to our stateroom for some rest and to get the rest of our Fish Extender gifts together to hand them out. Gifts sorted we went on our walk all over the ship to hand them out. We took our sweet time to deliver them and didn’t worry about missing today’s show, Believe, which we had seen several times on the Dream already. After we had delivered all of our goodies we rested for a little while before we, again, headed out for some more food.

To be continued ............

Don't forget .......... the advent calendars are open now. Don't miss fun pics and yummy pics!

:scared1: Did I fall behind AGAIN?

The pizza looks amazing - I think the gorgonzola/grapes combo sounds amazing! I wonder if they can do a gluten-free pizza at Palo. :scratchin:

Oh, the chicken parm on risotto looks amazing - I am a sucker for risotto!!!! Hmm, but the lasagna looks awfully tasty too…..

Love the pictures around the ship, and you KNOW I love the character pics!

Holy cow!!! I can’t believe how quickly your next two trips are coming up! I was just freaking out because it is just over a month until our DLR trip - I would be REALLY freaking out if we were as close as you are!

How in the WORLD did I not know that there was a tour-the-kitchen option???? I would love to do that! I’m guessing no kids are allowed though, huh?

I love hearing about the tastings. I cannot believe I’ve done two DCL cruises and still haven’t managed to make it to a tasting! There is just SO MUCH to do on those ships - or, better, NOT do. Awwww - relaxation. ;)

 I love that fish lamp at O’Gills! Cracks me up!

Touring the kitchen sounds like a fun experience. And those cookies at the end of it would have been worth it for me.

I would have had to skip the second tour...do not like tequila at all and my husband has not been allowed to have it since his bachelor party.

Great update! :)

Thank you! :goodvibes

:scared1: Did I fall behind AGAIN?

NO way! :goodvibes

Not sure about gluten-free, but I am pretty sure they should be able to make it. The gorgonzola/grape combination is just wonderful. You really need to try it, if they can do it gluten free! :thumbsup2

Both were amazing! :goodvibes

Yes, they are coming up quickly - guess I should start a PTR now! ;)
And you are getting so close to Willow's birthday trip. I can't wait to read all about it. :woohoo:

How in the WORLD did I not know that there was a tour-the-kitchen option???? I would love to do that! I’m guessing no kids are allowed though, huh?

It is pretty unknown that they offer these tours, but they are really interesting. If you want to do them, sign up first thing when you get on the ship, there are only a few spots available and they fill up fast.
I don't recall seeing kids on the tour, but then I am NOT sure! :lmao:

 I love that fish lamp at O’Gills! Cracks me up!

We have done quite a few of the tastings and did even more on the second half of our back to back.
I was pretty sure I would not be a fan of the tequila tastings, but it was one we had not done before. :rotfl2:
And even though we have spent two weeks on board, we had no chance doing everything we wanted to do. ;)

Touring the kitchen was real good fun and the most interesting part is that they will answer your questions and go away from a spiel if there is a need for it. Having been in a professional kitchen it was just so interesting to see how they run this huge operation.
Kathy, I was pretty sure tequila was not really my things, but it was one of the tastings we haven't done yet, so we better went for it to tick it off our list. :lmao:

Day 9, August 15

Let’s see what the kitchen has to offer …. - Part 4

After we had delivered all of our goodies we rested for a little while before we, again, headed out for some more food.
Today we had dinner at Animator’s Palate and it was the Animation show. And while we couldn’t care less for the Crush show, we were really looking forward to this one.
Our servers had told us to be at least 15 minutes early as we would have to draw some “stick figures”, so we tried to be there in good time. And when we arrived 15 minutes early the doors were closed and stayed closed until the regular dining time arrived. The room was filled fast, even so we had to ask where our table was, as we had missed the first meal at Animator’s. And as soon as we were seated, our servers came by, Ryan brought some Diet Coke right away and Tom went to draw our characters.

Yes, he drew both of our characters. I am an art teacher, but can’t for the life of me draw a fun character. Tom’s had come out really cute and soon our server took them away to have them scanned. In the meantime we were served some

Sour Dough Bread and

Roasted Red Pepper Dip. The bread was pretty good, but we both didn’t like the red pepper dip, too thin, too sweet.
Ryan then brought our other drinks, a

Corona for Tom and I had opted for the

Tuxedo, Sparkling Wine, Ketel One Vodka and Chambord. And then it did not take very long for our starter to be served.
Today there was no choice, but there was an appetizer sampler, the Animators Workshop Sampler,

Marinated Garlic and Herb Shrimp with a zesty lemon Aioli,

Prosciutto with Melon and

Sesame Crusted Tuna Sashimi, Wakame Salad, Wasabi and Soy Sauce. Oh, so tasty. Needless to say we just needed to try the

“Corn Three Ways” Buttered Popcorn Soup, topped with caramelized popcorn and spiced cornbread. Not your everyday soup, but it really grew on us and we enjoyed it a lot in the end. For our main course we both ordered the same thing, the

Oven-Baked Lobster Tail, served in the shell with Lemon Butter, Bean Casserole and Saffron Rice. Not being used to eating lobster a lot I was a bit worried about it being served in the shell, but as soon as the plate was placed in front of you one of the servers was on hand to remove the lobster from the shell. Winner! And while we still enjoyed our lobster the Animation Magic show started.

And funnily enough Tom’s creations were the first to appear.

We stopped eating and watched and I snatched a few pics. The animated drawings were really fun to watch. What a clever idea to do something like this, that involves guests.
Once the show was over we finished our lobster dish and soon our plates were taken away and dessert was served. We had opted for the

Warm Chocolate Lava Cake, baked chocolate delicacy served warm with double chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. It was rich and gooey and oh such a nice ending to our meal.
Once we had finished it, we said goodbye to our servers and walked back to our stateroom. We removed the items from the Fish Extender and on entering our room we found another fun towel creature in our room.

We changed and decided that we would just end the evening out on the veranda. We both had some Diet Coke before we went to bed, because we had a fun day ahead of us the next day.

To be continued ............

Don't forget .......... the advent calendars are open now. Don't miss fun pics and yummy pics!
