Get Off The Ship - we are running out of towel animals! Update 10/25 Day 31

You know, one of the zipline tours is just behind those botanical gardens. We watched them "zip" down the lines while enjoying the view. :thumbsup2
And driving definitely is crazy there. I would NOT rent a car and try to drive ourselves, so I guess a taxi would be our own option too.

I am glad you enjoy the calendars! :goodvibes Tom loves making them and no problem about the "oh no" page ;). It's all part of the fun.

That zipline you saw was the one we did. I was pretty sure from your pictures that it was. We could have gone to the garden as part of our zipline admission, but we wanted to get back to the port area for a little shopping before we had to be back aboard and didn't have the time to do both. Since we were not on a ship excursion, we weren't taking any chances!

Please tell Tom "thanks" for the calendars. I am enjoying them! :teeth:

I have really enjoyed reading this report, so much so that I went back and read your Dream report. I just have three complaints...

1. I gained 10 pounds just from reading and looking at pictures

2.You haven't visited Tokyo Disney SEA yet and let me give you the tour

and lastly

3. You aren't going on the DREAM New Years Eve cruise with me so I could meet you in person

Boy it might be scary,. but it sure is lovely there! I just recently read a review of that same place the banana daiquiris. They enjoyed them too. :rotfl2:

I loved the view when you were pulling into St. Thomas. It made those buildings look itty bitty.

How cool you were able to upgrade to business class for your flight to the US!

Glad you got your DME straightened out. :thumbsup2

Love the calendars! Booked marked and ready for the next day. :goodvibes

Am I missing something? How would one use that door that appears to be on the second floor? :rotfl:

poor donkey. :sad2:

:rotfl2: I am so glad your truck ride was made better...even more fun after you enjoyed your daiquiris :thumbsup2

Hi Karin! I'm back on the DIS after the holiday weekend.

Your travel plans are shaping up beautifully! :woohoo:

Wow - the views on your excursion were just beautiful.

:scared1: That was one heck of a drink! Just what that mode of transportation needed! :rotfl2:

"That's not a donkey, that's a business." Okay, I feel sorry for the donkey, but that is one of the funniest sentences EVER! :rotfl2:

Wow...soooo beautiful!!

Yummy banana daiquiri!

Oh I wish I was there now....instead of the freezing rain...

The view was just awesome ....... and the drink was just what the doctor ordered to "enjoy" some more time on our ride. ;)

I completely understand not wanting to miss the ship. :thumbsup2

You are very welcome to the calendars! Tom loves to make them!

Sorry :rotfl2: about your complaints!
I can't do anything about complaint one.
Tokyo Disney SEA is on our bucket list and has moved right up, thanks to your kind offer ;)
Sorry we are not on your NYE cruise - I wish we could go, but what about you hopping over to Europe and cruise the Med in July with us? :goodvibes

Boy it might be scary,. but it sure is lovely there! I just recently read a review of that same place the banana daiquiris. They enjoyed them too. :rotfl2:

Sitting on these vehicles was more than scary, but the drinks helped a lot. :lmao: And the view made up for it as well. :goodvibes

I loved the view when you were pulling into St. Thomas. It made those buildings look itty bitty.

We really loved to watch the ship pull into port. It was an awesome feeling to be on this majestic ship.

How cool you were able to upgrade to business class for your flight to the US!

I was over the moon when I found out that our waitlist had come through. That way we will have the lounge to enjoy while we wait for our connecting flight. There is a later flight leaving from our home town, but I am not taking any chances missing the plane with weather conditions in February.
And we will arrive far more relaxed and be able to enjoy the MK until 1am. Now, all I hope for are some FP+ for that night! :thumbsup2

Glad you got your DME straightened out. :thumbsup2

I was very happy to see that it had been straightened out. That second CM was awesome. pixiedust:

The drinks definitely helped to make the ride more fun. ;)

Hi Karin! I'm back on the DIS after the holiday weekend.

It`s so easy to fall behind, isn't it? ;)

Your travel plans are shaping up beautifully! :woohoo:

Yes, they are! Both, our plans for DLRP and our Bahamian cruise are coming along nicely. :thumbsup2

Wow - the views on your excursion were just beautiful.

We were really taken with the views, both on Sint Maarten and St. Thomas. We loved those islands. :goodvibes

:scared1: That was one heck of a drink! Just what that mode of transportation needed! :rotfl2:

I nearly fell off my bar stool when I saw HOW much rum went into our drinks. :faint: but they tasted fine and the bananas made them sweet and yummy. :goodvibes

"That's not a donkey, that's a business." Okay, I feel sorry for the donkey, but that is one of the funniest sentences EVER! :rotfl2:

It became a catch phrase whenever something "funny" happened. :rotfl2: He was so determined about his business. :lmao:

Banana Daiquiri saves the day! - Part 4

The landscaping was beautiful

and we walked around a bit and up to the balcony on top of the house to admire the view a bit more.

Some bits and pieces needed a bit of tender loving care up there, but again, the view made more than up for it.

Day 8, August 14

Banana Daiquiri saves the day! - Part 5

Some bits and pieces needed a bit of tender loving care up there, but again, the view made more than up for it.
From that viewpoint we could see some people on a zipline excursion and it was fun watching them gliding down their zip line.

After about half an hour we had seen enough, we were hot and tired and tried to cool down a bit in the small shop that was there, but it was hot in there too, they didn’t have many things we wanted to buy, just a postcard, which would remind us and give us a few more small bills as well. Then we walked over to the drinks containers and got ourselves some rum punch.

It was very sweet and didn’t quench our thirst, so we sat in the shade until it was time to get on board our vehicle again.

This had been our last stop of the tour and we were on our way back to the harbour again.

Once we had arrived there we got off and walked back to the liqueur store across the street.

There were a few other shops that we walked through and then we had a look around the liqueur store. Tom found a variety pack of rums and a few beers he had not seen anywhere else and which he wanted to try.
Biggest surprise was that they carried Silverado wines.

The Silverado Winery belongs to Diane Disney Miller and her husband and can be really hard to find.
Purchases made we walked back to the ship, but not without a stop at Del Sol, where we picked up some more T-shirts. It was around 1pm when we finally arrived back at our stateroom and since we were hungry we hurried down to Royal Court which was still open for lunch.

It looked like they were waiting for guests and we were quickly seated. We both ordered some Diet Coke and had a look at the menu. And while we still thought about what to order the server brought a

basket full of several kinds of bread and

some butter, which we tucked into while waiting for our starters.
Tom had ordered the

Chicken Tortilla Wrap, grilled chicken, peppers and onions, spiced with Ancho sour cream and Guacamole. My choice was the

Tomato and Mozzarella Salad with strips of Bresaola and Balsamic dressed Arugula leaves. Both were really nice and hit the spot. Our empty plates disappeared quickly and we were served our main courses. Tom got the

Seafood Risotto, shrimps, scallops and salmon topped with a lobster tarragon reduction. I felt like some red meat that day, so I ordered the

Cheese Croissant Sandwich, with Minute steak, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese and Horseradish Mayonnaise served with coleslaw and potato chips. Tom loved his risotto, and I loved my choice as well.
Soon we had cleared our plates again and were ready to leave, when the server said we could not leave without trying on of their desserts. Now, who can say no to that. So Tom got the

Rhubarb and Strawberry Crumble with Vanilla Custard, and I got the

Coconut Cream Pie with Meringue biscuit. The server was right, both desserts were very good and he was rewarded with a nice tip before we rolled out of the restaurant. We rolled right over to the elevator and went up to our stateroom, where we took some time out for a while.

Thank you for this lovely pictures to help chase away the winter blahs. I just love looking at all the tropical foliage. And the yellow flower with the bee's butt - very cool!

I did not know that about the Silverado wine. Neat little factoid.

The zip line looks fun.

and lunch looks delicious!

So far Megans Bay is the most beautiful beach I have ever been to. Someday, I hope we go back. Perhaps next time I'll track down that banana daiquiri place cause those drinks looked delicious!

Your pictures of the garden were awesome, Karin. Makes me wish we had enough time to stop there. For now, I'll enjoy it through your eyes.

The zipline you saw was definitely the one we did. Tree Limin' Extreme Zipline. We loved it! We also thought it was a very safe, well run operation.

I did not know about Diane Disney Miller owning a winery. Guess that figures, though, since we don't drink. I'm not sure that you know that she passed awY on Nov 19 at age 79. http://www.latimes.com/obituaries/l...ll-design-dies-at-79-20131119,0,2587820.story Sorry if I am the bearer of sad news.

I am happy you liked the photos, Mary Ellen. It took me right back to that beautiful place as well.

Not a lot of people know that the Silverado winery is actually in Disney hands. ;) I had read about it by researching wineries to visit before we went to California in 2006. Needless to say that we DID visit it.
There were lots of props from Walt's films around, all neatly included in the decor, but if you knew what to look for you would find it.
It is a beautiful winery and if you should ever get to visit Napa, please go and visit it for yourself. :thumbsup2

We are not really that much of beach people, so we were not interested in them too much, but seeing some of them from the tour, I would definitely consider a beach visit on a future trip there. :thumbsup2
That banana daiquiri was soooooo good! I can only recommend it! ;)

Nancy

Yes, that is what the Zipline was called! :thumbsup2 It was pretty neat to see people enjoying it.

You are not a bearer of sad news - I learned about Diane's passing that very day. It was VERY sad indeed.
As I told Mary Ellen, we visited the winery in 2006 and loved it there. If you get a chance to visit, please do so, Disney or not - it is absolutely wonderful. And ever since NO trip to the US would be complete without a bottle of Silverado wine. ;)

I have heard of Silverado wines as I am an avid wine collector and drinker, but I have never been able to add a bottle to my wine cellar because it just can't be found here in Japan. I'm hoping I can change that on my trip at the end of this month.

Our driver told us that we had a 10 minute break there and so everyone took off to take some photos and enjoy the view. There was a man with a “decorated” donkey

who would yell at anyone who tried to take a photo of it without paying him first – his comment, “that’s not a donkey, that’s a business”. Poor donkey – not so sure it wanted to be a business.
The 10 minutes went by far too quickly and soon it was time to board our “Safari taxi” again.

Higher up into the hills and down again we went and then up again to another view point and shopping area.

To be continued ............

I have met that Donkey! I don't have the pic on photobucket, but we took the same tour in 2005 on our first cruise. At that viewpoint, the man walked up and handed me the rope and said, "do you want a picture with Marilyn Monroe?" I was so shocked, that we paid him and took the picture! :lmao:

You got some really nice pics in this spot!:thumbsup2

Yay for getting Business Class on your long flight! You will be so much more comfortable for sure! I'm glad they were able to get the magic band issue worked out for you!

Such beautiful views!

Your lunch looks great! Royal Court was definitely my favorite spot for lunch. I got that same risotto once - so good!

We can't find it here in Europe either, but we brought a few bottles home with us from the US. ;)
Will you have a car when you go to the US? If so, stop by the new Publix in Celebration (or close to it). They have a LARGER wine section there - just go for the higher priced ones and you will find some Silverados as well. :thumbsup2

What fun you met the donkey as well. :lmao: He was pretty pushy on people and some did pay him, just like you.
I was sneaky and took the photo from the parking area. No dollars from me. ;)

We are pretty happy about the prospect of flying business class! We should arrive rested and ready to hit the parks until 1am :scared:!
I hope to be able to pick up a few FP+ for the later evening too. So happy the MB got sorted out and I will be able to play with FP+ soon. :woohoo:

It was gorgeous! We loved the landscaping and the islands were SO pretty.

We got to know the Royal Court pretty well, as we had A LOT of meals there, breakfast and lunch.
We both just love to be served when on vacation - we are not big buffet people. ;)

Day 8, August 14

Banana Daiquiri saves the day! - Part 6

We rolled right over to the elevator and went up to our stateroom, where we took some time out for a while.
I think we watched a little TV,

then sat out on the veranda with a drink for a while and watched people come back to the ships.

Shortly before we were supposed to sail out again, we headed up to the top deck again.

The ship behind us left first,

then it was our time to push back and leave St. Thomas.

Banana Daiquiri saves the day! - Part 7

The ship behind us left first, then it was our time to push back and leave St. Thomas.

It was fun to see all the hustle and bustle on the top deck and around the pool areas.

Finally we made it out into the open sea again.

And we headed back inside and down to Europa and finally Skyline. There were not many people in there and so we sat down and after having a peek into the menu we ordered some drinks. Tom got the

El Conquistador, Tanqueray Gin, Absolut Peppar, Fresh Muddled Strawberries, Basil and Fresh Cracked Pepper. Not your usual drink but it smelled fantastic and Tom enjoyed it a lot. I had ordered the

Londinium, No 3 London Dry Gin, Freshly Muddled Lemon, Orange, Lime, Mango Puree and Champagne. It was very different from Tom’s, but a very refreshing drink. We sat in Skyline quite a while, nibbling salted nuts and sipping our drinks before we finally walked back to our stateroom. We still had some time before dinner, so we sat and talked for a while before we changed and finally made our way to the Royal Court for dinner.

Day 8, August 14

Banana Daiquiri saves the day! - Part 8

We still had some time before dinner, so we sat and talked for a while before we changed and finally made our way to the Royal Court for dinner.
We arrived there shortly before they opened the door, so we joined the long line of people. Once they opened the door, the line moved pretty quickly and we were soon led to our table.

Our assistant server, Ryan, came by and brought us two Diet Cokes, then went to bring us

the Fig and Date Ciabatta Rolls and

Mint Yoghurt dip. Let me tell you, we loved the bread, the dip was rather tasteless. We soon had ordered our food and it did not take long for our server to return with our starters.
I had ordered the

Roasted Roma Tomatoes and Herb Flavoured Goat Cheese on mixed greens with aged Balsamic vinaigrette. Tom had ordered the

Slow Roasted Duck and Cheese Quesadilla with Mango, Cilantro and Red Peppers, Chimichurri Sauce and Arugula Drizzle. And even though it didn’t look like a Quesadilla it was very tasty.
Soon after we had finished our starters we were served the Main Course and my speciality drink,

the Golden Slipper, Peach Schnapps, Crème de Cassis and Sparkling Wine. Tom got served the

Peppercorn Crusted New York Strip, served with Green Beans and Corn, Whipped Yukon Gold Potatoes and Brandy Sauce, while I got the

Oven Roasted Tom Turkey Breast with Green Beans, sweet mashed potatoes, Rosemary stuffing, Giblet sauce and Cranberry Relish. Again, both were very nice, but I was fighting with the size of my entrée – it was definitely a larger helping and I was not able to finish it.
But still, there needed to be room for dessert.

I was surprised at Tom’s choice of

Prince Charming Chilled Chocolate Souffle, light chocolate cream with almond brittle, but he really enjoyed it. I had my heart set on one item,

Princess Jasmine Banana Bread Pudding, Brioche Bread Pudding, Caramel Sauce and toasted Macadamia nuts. And even though I wasn’t able to finish my main course this was too good to leave behind.
Finally we said good night to our servers and slowly made our way back to our stateroom.

The Fish Extender got emptied and the contents were admired,

but with the belly so full we both were pretty tired and gave in and had another early night.
