My results aren't good.
I have a very large prolapsed disc and the only way forward is to have surgery. There are no other options open to me.
I am shocked and obviously feeling very frightened.

The consultant has been very good explaining everything to me, I will be having the operation at Walton hospital in Liverpool, and in the mean time, I am to do absolutely nothing at all. No housework , shopping absolutely nothing. the worry is that It could go worse and pinch the nerve by the bladder, resulting in a rush to A&E.
I find it very difficult to sit down and so wont be coming on the dis much, I may be lucky though, I must get dh to buy me a laptop so I can keep popping on here to make sure your all behaving yourselves!

The letter to Walton consultant is being done today, so i reckon i should be going in April/May fingers crossed. I am so

Sorry to hear that. The bright side is that you now have a diagnosis & there is a light at the end of it. I can understand that you are frightened but look on the positives there are.

Enjoy the rest too. When I have treated people with back pain I have also mentioned they should try lying down with there feet under a pillow or cushion, this will help take pressure off the back making it a bit more bearable.

May I ask what vertebrae is the prolapse on?

Oh Jeanette, I had a feeling it was going to need surgery as it's obvious you are in so much pain. I hope your date comes through soon and then you can look to the future... Hope DH gets you a laptop too, the you can keep us up-to-date with what's going on with you... I am sending you loads of and ...
