Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014 Group

Losing 3 pounds in 3 days would motivate me!!! Seriously, though, it is very tough to stay motivated, but I focus on the overall "healthier me" vision. While losing weight is a big part of my goal, I want to be healthier so I can be here for my kids and my DH. And I don't let setbacks get me down as much as I used to, because it's part of a long-term plan, not just a diet for my August vacation.

I notice we are at AKL at the same time..WOOT WOOT!!!

I had a chiropator appt on Thursday and for the first time in a long time the adjustment put me out of wack more..to the tune that I wasn't out of pain for three days which meant I didn't workout til last night. I have a whole left leg problem from hip to foot so I get adjusted every two weeks, massage every 3 weeks and pyhsio every week..Very Thankful that Vetarans pays for most of it :goodvibes and then work benifits kick in so I am basically covered for the year.

So last night I did 55 minutes on my treadclimber and felt really good afterwards but didn't do any core work but I no pain this morning so I am a very happy camper.:cool1:

I gained 2 pounds back but I wasn't as upset as I thoguht I might which is a start about looking at becoming healthy instead of just losing.

I'm a little distracted since Saturday. My dog has been losing strength and stability of her hindquarters since then; not sure if she hurt herself... I had to drop her off at the vet because they're complete booked until Wednesday. I'm trying not to do stress eating...

Oh no :grouphug: to you and your dog. You did the right thing getting them to the vet and they are in the best place possible if something has to be done quickly and contcentrate on that instead of grabbing for something or if you need try healthy over sweet/salty

Lean on us as that is what we are here for,:flower3:

Thank you!

Just got a call. She has a bulging disk in her spinal cord. I'm not surprised; it looked neurological to me. So we're doing pain medicine and laser/acupressure treatments 3 times this week. I hope hope hope she gets better...

Wow I am so sadden to hear that is what it is but it is good you have a plan in place and I do beleive that time and the right treatment will help for sure.

I just ran a 5k on the trail at our local library. I averaged just over 11 minute miles. Not great for a real runner, but it made me feel FIERCE! (side note: running in this bit of humidity has illustrated for me that I need to get my long defunct inhaler prescription filled...)

Good job, you should feel fierce!

I have been struggling the pollen levels lately, and I keep hoping it will get better soon, but I've also wished my Albuteral prescription was up to date!

My personal trainer worked me HARD yesterday! He added in "jumping jack ladders" which nearly did me in! My gym is at the end of a strip mall, and there are seams in the sidewalk about every 20 feet or so. He had me do 9 jumping jacks at the end of the sidewalk, run to the first seam and back to the edge; 8 jumping jacks, run to the second seam and back to the edge: and so on, down to 1 jumping jack. It sounds like the "suicides" my kids gripe about when they have basketball practice, and now I know why! Phew! But at the same time, I'm glad he's giving me more challenging workouts each time, so things don't get stale.

And I feel like my body may be recognizing that I'm not in "flight" mode. I was holding onto the pounds for the first couple of months (I was losing, but less than a pound a week on average) despite the fact that I was exercising way more than I used to when I was working full-time. Now, I'm starting to notice that my clothes are looser :woohoo: and even though I say that's more important than a number on a scale, I REALLY want to see a lower number on the scale!!! :lmao: It's hard to run at this weight, but I make myself trot a little longer each day at the track.

:cheer2:

WOOHOO!!!:woohoo: Every bit helps and imagine if you had your inhaler how much faster you would of gone!!;)

WTG:thumbsup2 very happy that your body is starting to click in and get on board with all your hard work. I was imagining the jumping jack ladders and thinking my body ATM would say I am :crazy2:

Checking in here. 36 days till competition weigh in. Eeek! Where have the days gone?!? I've lost about 4 lbs. in the last two weeks. I started using kettlebells yesterday. I enjoyed it more than using boring, old dumbbells. I forget who said this, but I'm going to "keep on keeping on".

Thinking of your dog!

Lucy seems to be better, but not 100%. She's had 3 treatments at the vet of laser therapy and acupuncture. When we started she was extremely tipsy in the back end. If you flipped her back paws under (think a backward "J"), she could not right them. Today she could. She could always feel deep pain at her toes.

She needs at least another week of crate rest. She didn't have a crate before, but she's starting to feel better and wants to jump up again, so I got her one. After a brief introduction with some ultimate treats, she actually slept in it last night - on her cushy bed - with no problems. I was so relieved!

I have to decide if I want to do 3 more treatments, of either or each, or just stick with the crate rest. I'm really torn. The last acupuncture treatment really seemed to hurt her. Maybe because her feeling has started to come back. She was trying to get away and was panting. She likes the laser treatment though. She actually walked up to the vet today as soon as she saw the wand.

By the way, apparently I can lift 40 pounds because that's what she weighs. I've been lifting her in and out of the car, etc.

On a different note, I didn't check in because I was into helping Lucy. I lost a pound. I haven't been doing anything in particular except for eating within reason and doing some exercises like situps, etc while watching TV sitting by the dog. :) And I'm still waiting for the weather to get better...
