Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014 Group

Let's do a question: Is there anything you're looking forward to once you reach your goal weight? For me, there's many things I'm looking forward to. But one thing that stands out is I'd really like to enjoy clothes shopping again. It's such a durge now. I have to try on so many things just to find something I can stand. I go by myself; I can't remember the last time I went with a friend. And I'd really like to find a pretty dress or two. My "girls" are big and I just don't like how dresses fit and look on me. That's something that motivates me.

Nothing very specific except I think I just will feel so empowered when I'm able to enter and finish a race. I'm very much looking forward to feeling that strong.

Yes, I can't stand clothing shopping right now. Every now and then I see a really good sale but I can't bare trying on clothing (pants and dresses especially). Knowing that spring/summer is coming soon (or is it???? :rotfl:) helps to motivate me.

Sure! I think the main thing is we want to keep our eye on the target, and for us that's August. So if you have the same target, why not. Just be cautioned that we will be getting really excited as our trips get closer. We may drive you crazy! ;)

I know, I thought of that too! I guess I will be here holding down the fort as they say while all of you are gone on your lovely trips! :thumbsup2

I've been good with leg workouts in addition to cardio, but haven't really started arms or abs yet. So this week's goal is to do 3 ab workouts. Got one done last night so I'm at 1/3

Being able to see my leg muscles. When I was thin and running before I had some serious leg muscles. But nice ones lol. I looked back at a pic from 7 years ago and you can totally see the big muscle going up the outside front of my leg. I want to see that muscle again, instead of just a round long thing attached to my butt!

I am looking forward to having more stamina and keeping up with my boys! And hopefully not be so cranky lol

I'm looking forward to being healthy at almost 41yrs of age. And looking good in my bathing suit.

I just want to feel good and in control and live a long time!!!

I want to like the way I look in family pictures. My worst areas are my upper arms, so I stay away from tanktops and opt for t-shirts instead.

Hello,

I notice that through my daily routine of exercise I lose some weight but my belly fat is really annoying. My goal now is to flatten my belly and get back into a good shape. My friend recommends a new fat burning metabolism and I am so excited to try it because it is specially designed for female fat loss.

Please report back. I am VERY skeptical of such things, but I just hate my lingering belly pouch. My upper abs are getting nicely toned, but my lower belly is just not. :( Any ideas for target exercises, anyone?

I have the tummy pouch and I've had it for a long time. The best results I've gotten was last summer when I was trying to work through an elimination diet to try to find foods I was allergic or sensitive to. It's kind of involved to get into the specifics, but I combined a few websites to create what I started and my tummy was noticeably flatter within a few weeks. Enough so that people noticed. My main goal was to work through other symptoms i was experiencing, so I was real surprised by this. So in my case I think some of my tummy fat is related to bloating and inflammation in addition to fat. The diet is fairly strict and includes breakfast smoothies and lunch salads which I have a real hard time doing in the winter. My plan is to lay down some groundwork now and then get back to this full on once spring hits and the weather gets warmer. It will get warmer at some point, won't it?

Lower ab exercises, maybe? Anything ab related by Jilian Michels I would go with - I know some of her stuff is on YouTube. I'm skeptical of weight loss medication- I wouldn't spend the money unless my doctor highly recommended it was research based. My mom got something "dr oz" supposedly recommended- turned out a scam. If weight loss could be done with a pill there wouldn't be an obesity epidemic.

Curious to know if your friend's recommendation is "The Venus Factor"? I was sent a link about this on Facebook, but it is a program you have to pay for, so I didn't bite.

Found it.. here's a couple websites that roughly explain the elimination diet I used. I kind of combined it with some other things I found on other sites and library books like "The Virgin Diet." (BTW, when I looked at the site for TVD this morning I found that she's changed to selling her products rather than providing info.)

Here you go:
Again, it's not easy to do and my family didn't do it so I was always making two meals or trying to make modifications so the rest of my family had something to eat. I know I'm allergic to eggs and tomatoes via an allergist. I'm also allergic to molds and was finding things like vinegar were making my mouth burn. So I followed the diet long enough to find some things to avoid, but I'm looking forward to trying this again in the spring and really following through to see if there's other foods as well.

That's how I tend to think, too. I've been doing some lower ab work, and I guess I'm seeing results--I just want it to work faster! ;)

In other news, I ran a 5K (on my treadmill) this morning! I was slooooooow, but I did it!
