Get in Shape & Lose Weight for August 2014 Group

As I was walking on the treadmill today, I realized that I joined my gym a week ago today and I've worked out every day between Wednesday and today except for Saturday. :cheer2:

My muscles have adapted pretty well to the strength training exercises, with one exception: my arms are killing me! I knew I didn't have much upper body strength, but the modified pull-ups and push-ups really proved that fact! :rotfl:

I've been doing Jenny Craig for over a year now (can't remember if I posted that before or not) and for the first time in a while, I'm looking forward to weighing in on Friday.

In other news, I ran a 5K (on my treadmill) this morning! I was slooooooow, but I did it!

That is so spectacular!!

I have been a maniac going for walls and literally running around my house in addition to the gym trying to achieve 10,000 steps a day- it's so hard! Today I reached the steps goal an also the miles, floors, and active minutes but not the calories burned !!! I want all green, all the time on this fit bit!

So true! Though a fairy Godmother bip it ee bop it ee booing the heck out of my body would be more than a miracle!

I am going outside soon to shovel a ton of snow. :scared1: That should burn a few calories. :)

I never, ever reach calories burned green status. Not ever. :(
 
I had a very busy day. Had to shop, run errands, make dinner, yada yada yada... Help kids with homework, get ready to finally relax.. Ah, cr*p.. It's my new strength workout night on the bowflex & free weights. Uugh! I really wanted to just snuggle up on the couch. But I didn't. I did my 30 minutes+ DH joined me for support. (Pat myself on the back) I am woman, hear me roar!

I'm starting to feel better. Today the kids and I went for a (very short) hike through the river valley, I hauled 20lbs of baby on my back and 35 lbs worth of lunch. I eventually caught up to the kiddos - and my heart rate stayed within an okay range! Still not where I want to be, but by next week I should be bale to start working out again.

Oh and I've cut most caffeine from my day. I now have 1 cup of tulsi green tea each day or so, instead of my double espresso. This would mean that I also cut sugar from my diet, but I still have a decaf b/c I really enjoy my time to sit and sip :surfweb: - and tea just isn't the same.

Is there anything you're looking forward to once you reach your goal weight?

I'm really looking forward to better moods. And to having clothes that fit! Right now my clothes are either very VERY tight or too big. I don't feel like me in any of them.

My upper abs are getting nicely toned, but my lower belly is just not. :( Any ideas for target exercises, anyone?

I agree with the targeted lower abds - AND back strengthening exercises. You'll get better and exults if your back is stronger too. I like the cross curl: Arms crossed with hands on shoulders, bring knee up to opposite elbow, contracting your abds (focused on lower abds), really be sure to cross your body while you do it. 3 reps of 10-15.

That'll definitely burn calories! I've decided I'm not shovelling anymore - the sun will take car of it soon enough.:)

Awesome! And love the quote! It really does apply so well.

Is this a standing exercise or a lying down exercise? I'd like to add it to my workout.

I decided to add in ab work this week but have only done it twice. My DH has been doing about 6 different sets of exercises that takes about 8 minutes each evening and he says that his back is feeling wonderful. I just can't seem to get into it but will try again tonight.

I saw that. I've got my fingers crossed. We got a PIN code for August 17th -23rd but are arriving on the 16th. We were going to stay at a Super 8 or something similar but with this room discount we'd be able to add a night to our stay at Pop.

Supposed to be for Visa cardholders starting today (I am one), but I haven't seen anything yet. I'm already booked with a bounceback, so I don't know if it will improve my rates anyway.

I love Pop- that is where we are supposed to stay again. But I was hoping to try another resort and I don't want to do AS during construction and I'm not paying for a suite at AOA or staying in LM so far from Nemo pool......sooo I think we want to try any of the mods. Just don't know if my parents will want to spend the extra money since at the end of the day it's just a room we won't be spending much time in!

We had this happen our last trip where free dining started our second day. So we booked regular rate at POP for the first night. We had them linked so we were able to stay in the same room; I only had to go to the front desk. I think I went around 6 am. I was so excited I was up anyway :). If you can swing this, I would highly recommend it whether you get a discount or not.
