Geriatric MM Warriors!

HI,

I just read through the posts. It seems everyone is doing well.

Natlie, I hope your mother is doing better.

I am not a fan of painting, but I always do the detail work that I don't want hubby doing!!LOL We have a lot of crown molding, too and the effort is worth it!

Nell??? Are you still asleep? She was up until the wee hours of this day.

I had a great night's sleep again. I am constantly amazed! As I have said before, I will eat this way if for no other reason.

I did get on the scale and it really hasn't moved at all, but I am getting into different clothes so I guess something is happening. Hubby's weight keeps going down, but I think it is different for men. We gave a lot of his pants to Good Will as they were sliding off of him!! I can alter only so much or the pockets meet in the back:lmao:

I talked to a friend yesterday who has real weight issues. We lost a lot together on WW years ago and she become on of the best leaders I have ever seen. Then she lost a lot on Atkins when we started that about 6 years ago. However, now she is back up there again. I was telling her about this and all the food we can have - she really likes veggies too as well as a glass of wine. Hopefully we will have another convert. She said she has not been sleeping well, either. I said that was the best bonus of all!!

Has anyone measured lately and have you seen a difference? We are all so happy chatting away....I think Cindy said she has lost on Step 2 - what about the rest of you?

Off for my swim - will "talk" to you later in the day.

Love all of you

I'm losing in the weirdest places too. I lost another inch in my biceps, 1/2 inch in my thighs. I want it to go away in my waist!!!!!

Whoops -

Not everyone is doing well - Barb, I certainly hope the layoff does not occur, but...... swimming has become my salvation. I can't do the water exercises I do in the ocean and they have helped sooo much.

I will add another prayer for Natalie and her mother and Kathy and Carrie and anyone else who needs them.

We have a very close friend going through chemo for leukemia. He seems to be doing fine, but you only go into remission as we understand it - well wishes for him are always appreciated, too.

Carol?? I think it was you who asked to be added to the Christmas list. Nell put her e-mail address up yesterday. Please add your name to the list.

Now, I am going to get on with my day unless there are a bunch more posts!!

I have noticed the same thing. I lost a bit around the middle, but had hoped for more belly fat. The thighs have had the largest change. I'm not complaining about that, thouhg. Oh well, we will keep moving onward!!!:banana:

I'm looking at a rainbow right now :rainbow: but I think this should be our logo for M & M's!!! :rainbow:

One last thought. If we start a new thread, be sure it is the Geriatric Warriors. We do not want MM mentioned where it would be picked up in Google. guess I get a bit worried and probably shouldn't.........

I REALLY do enjoy our group, though!:):)

That is exactly the reason I used MM in the title of this thread. If they googled looking for us, I didn't think they would find us this way. I love your MM rainbow. It's just dreary and rainy here today with falling temp. DS15 is playing in the marching band in this year's final home football game tonight. I love to watch him play, but enduring 3 hours of this is not good. Plus, if the field's wet, the football coach won't let them march. Yeah, I'm sure they'll do more damage than the football players.

Hugs to you all! I have to get back to the grindstone. I have court-appointed billings and their respective pleadings to do for 13 cases here in the office. Ten done, 3 to go. They have to be done before the end of the County's fiscal year next Friday. I am about to go blind for doing them. Maybe I'll stop for now and do the rest next week. It is time to jump into my normal Friday afternoon routine (make deposit, pay bills, etc.).

See you soon!

Does anyone have a preference of what day we start a new thread? Does one day work better than another for most of us?

The only problem is that I don't tend to be the first one online on any specific day. If we pick a day, then the first online could start the thread, or I'll do it when I get here. As my grandmother would have said "Makes no nevermind to me."

Kathy, I'm sorry you had a hard night, but glad your binge didn't include carbs. I hope you feel better today!

Kate, doesn't having four legged children bring so much joy to our lives!

I could deal with a 28" tall horse Pony! Maybe if I can talk my spouse into going north finally, I can have a little horse like that! I'm still trying for Vermont/Mass/New Hampshire or Maine. It's going to take a lot of doing now. I have to put the fact that there's a walker now and arthritis first before what I want. I'm a little homesick.

I did get the total phone list in several parts. I'm going to combine and resend today. Everyone who added a name and sent it back won't have the updated list until I send it back out.

Hi Laura! It's great to see you!!!

Lisa, that is hysterical about the ducks being cute until you realized the poop every time they land! I wonder why they picked your pool over the preserve? Don't you have water behind your house?

Pam, I got your info I believe. :) Have a good work day!

Pam and Lisa, your both welcome to come and paint here! The landlord has it bright chalk white. I'd love to go out and buy a nice satin bone so he won't freak but that it looks better. When I try to paint though the paint gets everywhere but on the wall!

Beverly, when they will let you replace the dog, try a Labrador or something else that has instincts to flush birds. The dog will love to chase them and make they fly away. Labs tend to be smart also.

Carol, (or anyone looking to be on the Christmas Card list) just send your email to ContentedSoulDW@aol.com and I will add you to the mailing list.

Hey, can we have Laura paint our faces for the Godiva ride?

Sometimes it's funny because I will eat an entire meal and then realize there were no carbs in it and I'll have to grab something else. I just did it at lunch today. I had a piece of salmon and a salad with all legal foods (about 2 carbs in dressing). After I finished I realized I still needed carbs, so my afternoon apple became my dessert.

That works perfectly and we often do the same thing. Just remember to think about it while you are making the meal so you don't forget to add it on - or leave room in the tummy for it!:wizard:

Nell: We do have year round vernal ponds behind the house and the ducks live there but every year a few of them think our pool water looks better. It's a real issue when the momma duck brings her babies and they can't jump back out over the moss rocks. I have to make a bridge for them with my air mattress and keep Bonnie indoors. It's an ordeal! And all of the birds in the neighborhood come over to carry on about it from the treetops. It reminds me of a Disney movie.

We had originally looked at a specially trained goose dog, but they cost nearly $6,000. They are normally border collies, and are highly trained, work dogs. However, that got cut out of the budget for some other items, so an employee donated "Goose", who was 1/2 beagle and 1/2 bassett. He was cuter than sin, but not the brightest bulb in the box. He was sent to "bootcamp" and did pretty well chasing the geese when he came back, but the maintenance supervisor treated him like a pet, instead of a working dog. He took Goose home at night, so he wasn't here if we needed him late. This was after a pen was built that attached to the maintenance garage with an indoor and outdoor run. Steve (Main. Sup.) was devastated with Goose's death and hasn't been able to deal with another dog. Steve will be leaving in a little while as he is in school to be an electric lineman. Hopefully we'll get another one before too long. This one has to learn to stay out of the road though.

You'll have to videotape it next spring. We had a momma with her eggs/chicks nest in our front yard a couple of years ago. Now with the advent of our local flock of turkey vultures, the ducks have to be much more careful. We also have a mating pair of bald eagles on the island close to us. They are beautiful to see.

Pam: We have a lot in common - I love to paint! I've painted my whole interior including 21 ft. walls in the entry on scaffolding and all the way up the stairwell on a Gorilla ladder. This is a big deal because I am afraid of heights! Crown molding is killer on your neck, but it's so pretty. Hope you don't get too tired!

Hi again everyone!

Lisa, I DID NOT say I love to paint!! lmao! But I do, how'd you guess? Are you a compulsive cleaner as well? I know I must have OCD's or something. I go crazy when I know something needs to be done around here. I want it all done and all done at once. As my DD29 so eloquently puts it, "Oh gosh, here she goes again!" Hey, at least I can laugh at myself over it! :teeth:
I'm the family painter, I've done all my kids houses and will be starting my sisters new home at some point late next week or as soon as I get mine done here. I also do any kind of furniture refinishing you can imagine. There's something very therapeutic about it all for me.

Good Nell, I never think to check my PM's because I never get any!! lol

Cindy I would so come paint your house! I just love it, it must satisfy some artsie thing inside me or something. Lisa and I shall be right there! lol It's funny you didn't get a quote from the painter, it's the time of year that they all are looking for inside work. :confused3 Nell, we shall get to you soon! lol Gosh Lisa, how much fun would it be to become traveling painters!?

I lost a little bit for the time I was on Step II but I think it had to be because I basically only ate the carbs. I really messed the entire thing up IMO. I don't think I'm going to be much good at it. I'd be the one eating carbs between instead of with meals. I'll need to form a new mindset before heading back there. My tummy is the last thing to go. I lost six inches there during step I, it's so much better but not where I want it to be...GONE!...we all shall persevere! :grouphug:

::sigh:: I must get back to my brush and roller, you have have a pleasant afternoon/evening.

Beverly: Bonnie is 1/4 Border Collie, 1/4 Australian Shepherd and 1/2 Queensland Heeler. You think she needs a job??? She'd be the best goose dog, but she needs a lot of love. These kinds of dogs have to be with their 'person', too. She begins to visibly pout if her Daddy is 10 minutes late home.

OK, Pam you have me beat, I don't do the homes of all the family. Hmmmm, rethinking that - if I ever get a daugher-in-law and she wants me to, I will paint, lol! Especially if I ever get asked to paint a nursery!:cloud9:

Hi All...a bit less busy today, but still on the high end of normal! LOL

Laura - 7 zumbas in one week? OMG, I am tired enough with my paltry 8 hours a week at the gym!! You cracked me up with the phone S E X thing too! Its exactly what I was thinking!:goodvibes

Pam - Ok, it was only a matter of time before someone came up with the Barbie thing...you win!

Bev - I am currently racking my brain to come up with any possible hidden talents I might be able to contribute to your list...:smokin:

Doesnt matter what day we start the new thread...but dont count on me to do it! We could end up on a porn site somewhere, instead of safely here at Disney!! I am hopeless with that computer stuff...its a miracle I get here every day!

Carol, cindy, etc I will post the wedding soup recipe later on when I get home...it seriously is so simple, esepcially if you use the teeny little frozen meatballs...well, maybe they are the normal sized ones, who knows? In my Italian family the meatballs mostly look like soccer balls! :rotfl2:

Barb - Im going with the 1/2 shake snack too...makes alot of sense to me!

Jocelyn and Cindy - I dont seem to lose in my belly or hips either, at least not in any big noticeable way...mostly my legs and my butt is getting flatter! And my wrists, fingers, feet and I think maybe my ears are alittle thinner too! hee hee, maybe thats from burning up the cell phone lately!:rotfl:

Nell - You would llove these mini horses, they are TOO cute and have amazing personalities...they even use them as guide animals for the handicapped...OMG, maybe we can get one for M instead of the walker!!!!:thumbsup2

I was taking a break and watching taped Oprah from yesterday. First of all, amazing jeans for curvy women. Vegan chef who wrote the Conscious Chef showed how to make a creamy soup from celery root and the 'cream' is made from raw, soaked cashews blended with filtered water. It was a thick cream! He said the raw cashews don't have much flavor on their own and make a fantastic cholesterol free cream. These recipes are on Oprah.com. I can't wait because I love creamed veg soup. You cook it in a pan and then blend it in the blender. Yummo! Oh, and Kate, he made a dish that tasted like chicken and mushrooms that was vegan! Your girls would be so impressed if you learned this before the next family gathering!

Lisa,

Shame on you!!! Not drinking your water :scared1:

I have been so busy I can't even see straight. I usually teach 4 classes total a week and so far I have taught 6 for the week and I have 1 more tonight giving me a total of 7. Then Saturday I am facepainting and Sunday I am facepainting at the Dolphin game. I AM SO TIRED!!!

Trying to catch up on the post but Man you guys have been busy this week are you trying to break 100?

Tutu - I was just thinking about you this morning! I was zapping myself for not exercising the last three days! We need a zapper "smiley"! It sounds like you are getting enough excercise for both of us! :lmao:

Bev - Chip and Dale sound so cute! I am trying to make pets out of the wild turkeys in my yard, but so far even feeding them doesnt make them any warmer or fuzzier!!

Ummmm, Robin. I hate to tell you this but given the size of a turkey's brain, I wouldn't hold out too much hope for the warm and fuzzy thing! You might be able to trick them into being featured on your Thanksgiving table?:rotfl:

Beverly: We can’t send you Bonnie because her Daddy would be in a deep funk. He has never loved a dog like this. She is endearing that’s for sure. Really smart and likes to have a job because she’s a herding dog, so the ducks and Frisbee are taken very seriously by Miss B. I have trained her to ‘show me your feet’ when she comes across the threshold. She lies down and holds them all in the air so I can wipe them off before she gets a treat. Gotta love it.

OMG! I need you to teach that trick to Halle! I really dread the rainy season because of her muddy paws! That is too cute, Lisa!

I had a border collie mix when I was in my 20's. It's the dog I will never forget, I guess my first "puppy love." One morning I let her out in the back to do her business, it's must have been five am. She was always very good and didn't roam the neighborhood. We'll, the most unbelieveable ruckus let out in the back, I ran as quick as I could. I had no idea what was going on, but I was scared because she was in the back. I thought something might be killing her. Well, she had gathered a herd of wild turkeys from the nearby woods and was keeping them herded in a circle in the back yard. That was the noise. I didn't know anything about turkey's as I had grown up in a city. That morning I found out one important thing. They are loud! :lmao::lmao:
