Geriatric MM Warriors!

Thank you Lisa.

My other half just got home from the VA. It turns out there is severe arthritis in both knees that got aggravated from the new job now. We have a walker, medications, supplements, appointments in Tampa, possible surgery. It's a mess. I'm scared. A bunch of other medical issues too. Too complex to go into.

I also don't know how I'm going to keep buying the right foods for this WOE. I hope step two comes up soon. Carbs are cheaper.

Nell--so sorry to hear this--much prayer for both of you:hug:

Hi Barb - I agree with you, No KW, No GL - just my vote if we are voting!!

BTW Lisa - I have had sushi, just the veggie kind...OMG does that mean I have eaten seaweed?:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Yes, darling, you have. They take it and dry it into paper thin dark sheets called nori. It isn't at all slimy. That's what's on the outside of the rice. :scared1:

I'm a nervous wreck today. I think I mentioned that my little non-profit that I manage had to lay off my admin asst. Well, she was the one that did our GPS monitoring for us. We contract to counties and municipalities around here to do Electronic Home Monitoring in lieu of jail time for the courts. The software and equipment is pretty complicated. The device is attached to the ankle and GPS is activated by a satelite so we can track the defendants whereabouts. Well, I hadn't had to do it before she was laid off. I have my first hookup today! I'm so worried I'll set his inclusion zones wrong and he'll be free to roam the countryside :scared1: Luckily I have someone at another branch standing by the phone in case I need help. Wish me luck!

hope it went well today

Do You Have Adrenal Fatigue?

When the adrenal glands are not functionining optimally, you can have a condition that is known as adrenal fatigue, or adrenal exhaustion. Adrenal fatigue often develops after periods of intense or lengthy physical or emotional stress, when overstimulation if the glands leave them unable to meet your body's needs.

Some other names for the syndrome include non-Addison's hypoadrenia, sub-clinical hypoadrenia, hypoadrenalism, and neurasthenia.

Symptoms include:
excessive fatigue and exhaustion
non-refreshing sleep (you get sufficient hours of sleep, but wake fatigued)
overwhelmed by or unable to cope with stressors
feeling rundown or overwhelmed
craving salty and sweet foods
you feel most energetic in the evening
a feeling of not being restored after a full night's sleep or having sleep disturbances
low stamina, slow to recover from exercise
slow to recover from injury, illness or stress
difficulty concentrating, brain fog
poor digestion
low immune function
food or environmental allergies
premenstrual syndrome or difficulties that develop during menopause
consistent low blood pressure
extreme sensitivity to cold

Geez!!! and I thought I was tired from doing a million zumba classes a week. LOL!!!

:disrocks:

yes to everything except the last 2 (I had low normal bp before I gained my weight though)

My Gosh, you are all so funny tonight! :lmao:

We just got back from the store to get cigarettes. Yuk. I can't send Marti in a walker though. That would be too mean.

I realized tonight that although I'm smart I'm very dumb. It never occurred to me before that I could shop based on having actually planned meals. I just buy the same stuff every week and wing it. I think I'm going to make a list of simple meals and shop for them.

I hope everyone is well. Going to sew now. I'm busy working on my quilt. It's going to be a sad creature, but at least it will be finished. :thumbsup2

Nite Kathy!

Hi Natalie!

OK Lisa - so do I get some kind of "points" for this revelation? I can deal with it if it isnt slimy...but cant deal with the raw fish idea though, so just stuck with the veggie ones....they were actually quite yummy, I do admit!!

OMG KATE! - I got my SHAKEOLOGY!!! Woody brought me some to try...since its like 8 carbs I was thinking maybe I could split it in half and have as a 5x5? What do you guys think? It would be awesome for me to have in the car on the way to work, and then the other half on my way from work to the gym? All those yucky veggies all in a nice chocolately shake!:drinking1

Hi Nell - no way I could just wing it every week...I actually sit down and figure out what proteins are on sale, then I get enough to cook for the whole week, then I pick my veggies to go with the proteins and cook them ahead too. Then I actually pack them up into 5 little containers so I have my lunches for work all ready to just grab one and throw in my lunch bag before I leave. I have pistachios and almonds all pre-portioned in little bags in a big bowl, so I grab a couple of them, a couple string cheese, an Atkins shake and out the door I go!

Pork loin was on sale this week, so I had one in the crockpot all last night with some onions and a teeny bit of beef broth...house smelled so good this morning! Cooked up some asparagus, and had my melt in your mouth tender pork with the asparagus and some mashed cauliflower...YUM

I bought a can of Campbells Fiesta Cheese soup, had 8g carb for the whole can, so I threw it in the crockpot with 4 boneless chicken breasts all day sunday, then the chicken was so tender I shredded it up and stirred in a big bunch of spinach...made like 8 servings, so I am still going to count as a 5x5, but I figured it was a good way to mask the spinach taste! LOL

:lmao: Yes, I do watch it when I can. I like it. Did you PM with Sharronlee from the new MM site? How did you approach her?

She approached me so I told her we were in a happy place and to email me if she wanted to join us. She's very happy.

Why do people think sushi is raw fish? It might be but you pick it out of hundreds of choices - a popular one here is shrimp (cooked) and avacado. Our favorite is topped with tempura fried lobster. Some are salmon, tuna, all kinds and you don't ever have to get it raw if you don't want.

Nell, it is sooo helpful to make a list. I make a meat only meal plan for the week. Then I make a catagory list by meat, veggies, dairy, bread, other. I go to the store once a week and have everything there. It really helps to budget that way too. :thumbsup2
