Geriatric MM Warriors!

I'm confused. Why did the admin delete posts? Is that normal? BTW your pic is FABULOUS!! You look great!![/QUOTE]

Oh, thank you for saying I look nice! My bottom half is still extra, extra abundant! :lmao:

Jocelyn, do you think the almond milk would work to cream coffee? I like my coffee light, and I've been having an argument with the half and half. :)

I would give it a try. I know people on another forum I am on use it. You can also make your own from almonds and then there is nothing else in it. I buy mine.....

Almond milk is delish!! You could definitely use it!

Nell - Are you still caffeine free? Two weeks now for me :):yay:

Ok, off to get my shower. DH and I are going to dinner tonight and then out for a "Haunted Springfield Walk." It's our anniversary today!

Tomorrow we are going to a local fall festival sponsored by a nearby county with lots of different little towns who have activities. I hope the weather stays good.

Bev!! Happy Anniversary sweetie!!! lets see, what smilies to give you......

:cloud9: :cheer2::bride::love2::crazy: ok, had to put in crazy!!

I'm pretty excited about the sweet potato for Thanksgiving! Mom has mashed them with orange juice and put walnuts on top in the past. I wonder if I could mash them with vegetable broth? I could add some orange zest. I might try it one night as an experiment. It couldn't be bad...Here's where I gesture for Seabreezes to chime in. She is a wonderful cooking resource as well as an all around sweetheart!
Lisa

Thank you! I'm looking for a blushing smilie!! Found it!

I should think you could use veggie broth and add the orange zest. You could use some orange extract flavoring like the lemon or almond ones to make orange juice. Just thought of that! The orange zest would work. You might want to add a bit of sweetener if you use the broth. My hubby isn't big on yams - I love them just baked with a bit of butter - so have not been fixing them.

On to read the rest of the posts..........

HI!

Ok, I've been drinking my water, taking my supplements, eating good (one slip earlier this week-ug) and I STILL don't have the energy I thought I'd have. I go to see Diane on the 29th and will discuss with her but it so frustrating. I AM losing weight but there's got to be something else going on. I DO feel alot better emotionally (think I shared how much better my hubby and I are doing) but again, this stupid fatigue. I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrom and fibromyalgia but I really thought getting my insulin regulated would help.

I'm going to an alternative doctor next week for my hormones but its going to be expensive and I'm really afraid its not going to help. I know I'm moving in a positive direction, just want to heal soon.

Thank you all:grouphug:

Mike is a hoarder, so I have so much trouble trying to get him to part with anything. Clutter just drives me nuts! We have a 3 story house, plus a basement. And with all the kids leaving, we are getting more room. A total of 6 bedrooms. It really is a big house. We are going to convert the 2 attic bedrooms into 1 big one for Mike and I. I'm really excited about it.

ug--hard to live with a hoarder. Its a disease you know, maybe if you tell him that he'll try to get help? tough one. I have more clutter in my house than I usually do, it really clutters my brain. mostly books, I guess I can consider myself a book hoarder:scared1:

I guess I thought you had retired to Hawaii.

We did, but hubby still runs a business in California so he keeps busy all the time. Thanks to the computer and fax we can be anywhere.

We bought our first place here in the late 70's so it was not a new place for us. We were able to spend summers here which was great as well as holidays.

We are on Medicare!!! As I said before, I think I am the senior member. Just don't feel that way! If I didn't have the problem with the severe scoliosis in my back I wouldn't have anything wrong with me, except for a few excess pounds!

Cindy: Posts were deleted by admin if they mentioned getting our own thread and being frustrated by no response - Kate - mentioning a shake mix - Robin - mentioning a website - me, etc.

Pony and I responded to Texan about what was so valuable about our group and it being about so much more than recipes, then she got snippy. The next thing you know I got this really crazy PM from GeorgiaLee where she proclaims she is splitting the threads. All I said was "I'm confused. It seemed like no one or almost no one voted to do this." in so many words. She responded that there would be no discussion and that Robin and I needed to 'cut out the drama'. Yeah. That's what happened. Nell rescued us with the Yahoo forum and Beverly brought us to chat heaven over here.:littleangel:

Oh, and you decide for yourself, of course, but when we were teenagers, we had to help our Mom clean. I was terrible with my son - did way too much for him and he didn't know how to do anything when he left for college. I would do better at teaching him how to run a household if I could do it over again. He did do well in school and had a job, though.

You guys want to vote on something for me? I just emailed Diane, but she is away until Oct. 26. It suddenly occurred to me that since I didn't make the minimum weight loss on the chart for Step 1 that maybe I should have stayed there until I did??? I wish I had asked her earlier before I moved up to Step 2. I have become a little smaller on Step 2 still without losing any more lbs. My size loss is very slow, but if I try on something that I could wear loosely 2 - 3 weeks ago, now it is falling off. What do you all think I should have done, or should do about not being at the chart levels? I have no medical issues. I suspect there is a chance my bioidentical hormones could be making me hold on to weight, but I am scared to stop them in case the murder rate in my county should rise.:scared1:

Lisa!! too funny--the murder rate almost rose this morning here in Jersey!! But I went to the gym and I felt soooo much better!

I vote: wait for it, wait for it........stay on step 2--you're doing great and those numbers are just that, numbers. Its what going on inside and the inches you're losing:woohoo::goodvibes

We also have an open door policy. Sometimes not the best thing as with Mike's son and some of the kids he brought here. But I would never turn someone away.
I am excited about the bedroom. In all this house, I don't really have anywhere that is "my space" so to speak. The bedrooms aren't that big. We have a king sized bed, and the bedroom is just big enough for that and a dresser. The closet is also very tiny. But I'm thankful I at least have somewhere to lay my head at night.

you should make the attic YOUR SPACE! You can let your husband 'visit' your space from time to time:lmao::lmao:

Natalie: We have so much in common! I've been through all of the same things. I did get much, much better with a non-inflammatory diet from Dr. Perricone and then again probably 80% better with Dr. Teitelbaum and the supplements. I also went on bioidentical hormones. For me, it was about a lot more than just insulin. I know you are younger than I, but this did go on for many years. I'm glad you are getting a handle on it younger than I did. Yes, it was expensive. We've sort of gotten used to cutting out some of the other extras in favor of healthy food and vitamins. It's too bad it costs so much to not get sick, lol! Don't give up!:flower3:

TA DAH!! Here I be! :dance3:

Hi everyone!!

I feel like I'm sneaking off to a secret rendezvous!

Thanks Robin and Lisa for directing me here, I really appreciate your continued acceptance, even after my bumbling screw up. This is great!

I need to quit checking out the smilies and chat huh? Do I have to? lol

Okay so let's talk about how old my kids are getting! They turn 22, 23, 26, and 29!! this year. Where does the time go!?!? Lisa how old is your son? My DD26 is being auctioned off to the highest bidder very soon. lol Actually I'm so very proud of her for staying single for as long as she has. She is a master hair stylist and store manager for Regis Salons. She just got promoted to district manager covering mid Indiana to northern Kentucky. I hate that she has to travel but she's all about it. Lisa, I'll be sure to get a picture of the cake and get it posted. She's still working on it and she's very frustrated over how it's going. lol We shall see.

So when the new forum is set up with Diane, will you all continue here as well?

I'll be back to sit and get caught up you all and set up my profile ...I'm I a perv or is there something really wrong with this banana? lmao!

See you all soon! pixiedust:
Pam

Pam! so glad to see you:lovestruc (I'm a HUGE smilie fan!!):rotfl:

just sweet pots with pumpkin seasoning? how much of each?

Well, I don't measure. I wing it. First I boil the potatoes skin on. Then when they are soft to the middle I take them out and peel them. Only the paper outer part peels off, so it keeps all of the vitamins in. The I shake in generous cinamon, and small amounts of nutmeg, ginger and a very small amount of cloves. A tablespoon or so of butter for a family size bowl, mash it all up and add salt to taste.

I have to be honest and say that my husband does the :laundy:! ahh, didn't know if I'd be able to use that one!!

You are so cute! My husband is obsessed with laundry! When he was in 5th grade he didn't put his clothes to be washed in the proper spot so his Mom made him wait to get clean clothes and he had to wear his underwear twice. Ever since he does his own laundry - like constantly! The second John-Paul walks though the door with his suitcase his Dad is asking him if he has any laundry. It's a hoot!:laundy:

Anyone notice that we have more posts here in the past two days then the old thread has in the past week? Its like there is nobody there...kind of sad, but at least we are all together here!! I dont have time to play with the smilies here at work, but I have so much fun seeing you guys playing! Its like we are a bunch of little kids in a sandbox!!:rotfl2: And Im not sure about the dancing bananas!!

Robin--I have noticed in the past that the weekend is a slower time. lets see what happens tomorrow and next week.

You know, I hate to say this, but Georgia seems to be posting more than she ever did--I mean, is it just me or did you guys notice she would only post once every few days before and now shes answering peoples questions and responding more.....things that make you go hhmmmmmm.............

I just realized I could throw some frozen spinach in with my spaghetti sauce.

I made the exact same thing last night and added shrimp--It was good:banana: AND my son had seconds:cool1: (yeah, I don't see myself stopping the smilie insanity any time soon!!)
