General Star Wars Discussion

I wasn't all that excited about Skeleton Crew, but after seeing the trailer, I am looking forward to this. I think know better what to expect, 80s kids movie vibes, ok, that can be cool. So now more hopeful.
But the Captain EO reference....wow!! Thanks @BrianL

So , who has seen/experienced Captain EO???

We did, when they brought it back in the 2010s. It was something to behold. Our young kids were like 'what in the world was that?" well, DH and I were too, but we grew up with stuff like Thriller, Love is a Battlefield, etc, so were used to this like a long music video story mixed with dance, it was like an expanded Michael Jackson video, w some Lucas flair/creatures/space campiness/crazy fashion/80s idea of the future/space, etc mixed in. Crazy!!

I saw Captain EO back when it was originally in Epcot. My brother and I were heavily into our Star Wars and Michael Jackson phases so we definitely were excited to see it. It was very campy.

I'm excited for Skeleton Crew because it looks like a fun Star Wars adventure and that's fine. Not every show has to have epic consequences. I think that's why Rebels and Bad Batch are fun to watch. The entire universe doesn't hang in the balance. The SW Universe is big enough that you can make a show about some kids who find a spaceship. The 80s was littered with movies about kids stumbling upon something unique like Flight of the Navigator, Explorers, Stand By Me, Goonies, Labyrinth, the Ewok films, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, and ET. I miss those kinds of movies. It will be fun to have something we can watch like that again as a family.

I saw Captain EO when it was reatively new on my first trip to the world. It was super hot and I had downed this huge strawberry milkshake from The Land pavillion. Well, that was a mistake because I ended up leaving a big, pink puke right in front of the doors to Captain EO! As I remember it, the line outside took a big step to the left. 🤣 I love EO though. There is a pretty decent remastered, non-3D copy on Youtube if anyone is interested.

I saw Captain EO when they brought it back. My reaction: "Wow, the prequels make so much more sense after seeing this." :D You can definitely see how Lucas was influenced with some of the ideas.

lol I took my kids to EO when it was at Epcot... they were 13 and 7 at the time and were like *** did I just watch, but they did like it even though they thought it was kind of hokey

I feel this is more a cost cutting move and not necessarily a comment on the validity of the show. I’m just happy we’re getting a second season of Andor. Hoping Skeleton Crew does well.

I'm pumped about Andor as well, and really was enjoying Acolyte. Too bad it didn't fare better.

Yep cost cutting as in it was expensive and not very many people watched it, yep I agree.

Star Wars Outlaws release date very soon. I think DH was going to pre-order. He's getting very excited for it. I wish I could just get the hang of gaming. I've tried a time or two. DS got me into Zelda for a while , but he did all the complicated stuff, but it was fun. I'd like to try Jedi Survivor. But anyway, this looks great

Despite the weird Ubisoft pricing schemes, it seems like a pretty good game. I hear it is a bit of a simplified open-world game, which I am good with, though some players are disappointed in it being less complex. The story definitely looks cool though. I would get it, but I doubt my PC is going to run it without an upgrade.

Truly an icon, the voice of many generations. I think my favorite role of his was in The Sandlot.

I have been playing it the last week and really have enjoyed it so far. People are saying it is just a re-skinned Assasin's Creed game, which the comparison is certainly accurate, but I don't see it as a bad thing. Maybe if you have played lots of the Assasin's Creed games I could maybe see it not being as interesting, but I have only played a few of those, so this seems pretty fun to me.

I like that it is not filled with lightsabers and Jedi powers; there are games that already do that well like Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor, so it is fun running around with just blasters. It is basically what a Hans Solo game would be (and I think Lucas Arts tried to make one years ago, but it never got out of development).

Watched Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy last night, and it was great fun!! Several laugh-out-loud moments, and some clever writing. I enjoyed it. Have to go in with a sense of humor.

I haven't watched it yet, but I have enjoyed other Lego Star Wars series on Disney+. I like that they have a sense of fun and don't take themselves too seriously. It feels like people playing with Legos and acting out their own adventures in the Star Wars universe.
