General Star Wars Discussion

This sounds ridiculous, but the first episode made me feel like I was 12, watching a good ole 80s movie. I just smiled, and this is silly, but I had a few tears in my eyes, like I was having a chance to be a 12 year old again experience some just fun adventure story. They managed to capture the whole vibe/feeling of a show from back then.......
Opening was pretty brutal, unexpected. Looking forward to lots more. I will watch the second one soon.

They really did a great job of capturing that feel. All of the kids are great, even if they are a little tropey. You've got the tough girl who's maybe not so tough, the dreamer who always wants to press on, the kid who's worried about "getting in trouble", and the smart kid! But, you know, it works.

Also, I love the droid, and his name, SM33, Mr. Smee!

New episode tonight - can't wait!

I spotted a couple of the Black Series figs out in the wild too this wekend. Captain Brutus looks awesome!

Good episode!

I love SM33 even more now! That owl creature was right out of an 80's fantasy film. Jod is interesting - he's clearly using the Force, but he's also no Jedi. Then again, he's right, he never said that he was. Nice to see some X-Wings, though I feel like it's a missed opportunity to not have Carson Teva be one of the pilots. The music when they hit the moon was just fabulous!

yes, agreed on all of that. Great fun!! I wish it was a longer episode.
I I wish Jod had had a little more action on the planet before he left. Those scenes could've been longer. Man, I wish too that had been Carson Teva. how cool that would've been. I was surprised they just cut right to explaining a bit of the lore of At Attin, and how it's been hidden so long. I thought it take longer for that to come out, but cool. I think those scenes could've been longer too. I feel like the characters - can't wait to know more about that mystery of the planet. Wonder if we'll see any bounty hunters show up....since they mentioned putting a bounty on Jod.

It did feel like they cut from Jod talking to his old crewman in the scrap droid room, to him practically back to the ship. It feels like a little more could have been shown - then again, sometimes less is more, but I do getcha. I loved the droid room though - always great to see a B1!

The hidden world idea is fantastic. Feels like it was hidden well before the Skywalker storyline began. The shot of them walking on the moon with the planet in the background was great. This looks and feels like Star Wars. The owl and her setup reminded me of Aughra in The Dark Crystal. I bet this is going to end with the Supervisor (probably AI) purposefully setting them off in the wrong direction so they cannot get home as a way to protect the continued anonymity of the planet.

Another fun episode. SM-33 continues to be the best ever, and gets more screen time on this one!
They have an interesting setup with the other "At" planets being similar. It's like a glimpse into the future for their homeworld, but without the time travel. The galaxy (and our world too) really needs to listen to Neel - wisdom right there! Jod is one slick character, that's for sure. Did he really just buy those guys off? I knew that SM-33 knew more than he was letting on - or could let on. I am glad that they didn't have to take him out!

Yes, great episode. We had to turn the subtitles on when the French girl showed up. Neel is such a cute character. I feel the old Captain of 33 found At Adin and wanted the treasure all for himself. The treasure was probably an untouched world that he could make and maintain. So now he's the Supervisor.

That accent was pretty thick! 🤣

Would the old captain still be alive though? It seems like that ship crashed a long time ago. SM-33 is likely very old. At first I thought he shared some similarities with a KX series security droid, but he predates them by quite a bit I think. I suppose it's possible if the captain is of a species that lives for hundreds of years - It's Captain Yoda, Arrrh!

OH MAN!

Remember folks, just because it's Christmas Eve, doesn't mean there's not a new Skeleton Crew. Best
I watched last night, but was so tired, this morning, I couldn't remember anything. Just re-watched, and wow, YES, that was a great episode.

Okay, didn't have time earlier to post any real thoughts.
This was the best episode yet. It was good to see what the parents are up to, but without taking focus from the kids. I almost worried they were going to do one of "those" episodes where they take you on a tangent with no movement of the A-Plot. I was glad to be wrong. It's funny how they tied down SM-33, but he just broke those ropes so easily. The pirate homeworld was great - funny how it changed, much to SM-33's chagrin. The chase through the pirate tunnels was so Goonies! Then, of course, that ending. Jsut when Jod was sounding more and more like a Jedi. Then agian, we've been told, and told, and told not to trust him. Guess that was good advice!

One of my Christmas gifts was a Black Series figure of Jod Na Nawood. DS is not watching Skeleton Crew, he thought it looked too silly....but I"m hoping he'll change his mind. It's just too good and fun.
Anyway, I held up the figure, and he asked 'who is that, what's their name?" I laughed and thought, I'm not sure....How many names does he have??? I'm looking very forward to learning his backstory, and who he really is, how he got to be a pirate. I think he's force sensitive, maybe Jedi in training affected by Order 66. DH says no, he's using tricks/magnets. We keep wanting to see a character who fails the Jedi trials...what happens to them.
Looking forward to the next episode!!

Also, how great is Pokkit? Where's her figure?

I think one of the reasons this show works so well is the kids aren't just immediately great at everything. They're allowed by the plot to make mistakes and learn from them. Like Wim summoning up the courage to try to save Fern from Jod by grabbing the lightsaber, ready to become a Jedi like the heros in his stories, and he ignites it upside down. Just incredible. It reminds me of Data from Goonies who had machines that rarely worked. Eventually, his machines save all of them. I tire of characters who come from humble backgrounds that become instant masters of everything. I love that these kids are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. It's why I love the Tom Holland Spiderman films. It allows them to grow as characters.
