Geen Yight - She's Out of Sight: A Trip of Leaps and Bounds

I know the update was from yesterday but I didn't see it then...so thank you for starting my day off today with some AK fun! :thumbsup2

Yep, I was happy for a $3.00 frame. I am presently mourning the loss of the big number in my checkbook I was enjoying after my income tax return arrived. It had a short life. :upsidedow

I'm sorry for your loss. :sad2: I suffered a similar loss recently, also.

:rotfl:

I love the baby gorilla. He is so darn cute. When we were there he was chasing a bunny rabbit. He would also stand on a little log, fall off, land on his head, and roll down the hill. It was quite comical. :rotfl2:

I wanted to tell you, I showed Kailyn a picture of those princess skirts and she took a picture of them on her phone, so she will be on the lookout for those and texting me the SKU if she does find them. :thumbsup2 I said goodbye to her last night b/c she was getting up early to finish getting ready before heading to the airport. I'm pretty sure their flight is at 11 or 11:30, but they aren't getting to Orlando till 5 or 5:30 due to layovers. I am SO excited for her and to start getting pictures so I can share them here!

Look who is peeking out.

The squeals that just emitted from my desk have caused several people in my office to come check on me! SO CUTE!!! :goodvibes

A gorilla at Zoo Atlanta is expecting a baby in late April or early May, so as soon as they have him/her out and about, I wanna go see it!

I loved seeing the hippos walk through the water on our safari ride. They're really interesting creatures. Loved the story with the hippo and the hare. :)

I wish I had that good of drawing skills! The best thing I can draw is a stick figure
The little Gorilla baby is too cute! There's a new baby polar bear at the Kansas City Zoo, and I'm going to have to get down there soon to see her!

all caught up again.

great updates and pics as usual.

the birthday party was cute, looked like fun.

Love the AKL print.

Awwww such a cute baby gorilla! Makes me wanna' take it home until I see how big the adults are and I change my mind...real fast! :)

Oh. My. Gosh! You got some cute pics of the baby gorilla! :) I could sit there all day and watch them.

And uh..guess I won't be going near any hippos at night! :scared1:

At the end of the game, in which the Dolphins were thoroughly smashed by the Bluejays, or whatever they were, the girls shook hands,

and had a big time running through the tunnel that the parents made.

024.jpg

Brooklynn had no clue of any kind of score and was very sure that they had won the game. She was happy with her snack and her friends, and she was glad to get the shinguards off.

I was very happy that her shinguards smelled nothing like Trent's when he used to take his off. They could truly knock you over. :scared1:

It was a fun day. It's nice that the girls are getting experience in team work and cooperation at such a young age.

This warms my heart! I love to see that they aren't making it SO competitive and more about the kids having fun and learning about the game. I remember when Brooke and Brett were little and some parents were so obnoxious about winning. I'm sure they were like that when I was small, too, but I don't remember. Learning to be a good loser is an important lesson in life, too. As is being a gracious winner!

I love this age with soccer. I love watching them gather around the ball like a swarm of bees! There's really no passing yet so it's pretty funny. I miss those Saturday mornings at the soccer field. We are a soccer family so both fall and spring we spent most Saturday mornings there. I'm sure I will be watching Seth play before we know it!

Luke is playing soccer now and the other day I asked him how his game was and he said, "We had a victory." I thought it was cute that he didn't say they won, but that they had a victory. I'm gonna go watch him soon. We haven't been able to yet b/c the first Saturday it rained, the next Saturday he was sick and then the last game it was soooooo windy and I didn't want to get Seth out in it.

Love the AKL print!!! :thumbsup2

Oh My Goodness! Lilly is so adorable. I can't wait to see her in 48 days.

Just stopping in to quickly comment on your baby gorilla pic! You are sooo lucky to see her again!!!
I hope we get to on our next trip.

Heading out to baseball.
Under a tornado watch. Bah!

I love Animal Kingdom!!!!! Can't wait to see the rest of the safari pics!!!!

Love how involved kids get to be at Disney!!
Brooklynn looks so engrossed in what the CMs are showing her!!

I totally agree. I love the looks on Brooklynn's face as she is absorbing everything. I wish my students could have that look more often. I try to make it exciting and interesting, but they need all that good hands-on stugg going on. :thumbsup2

I wonder if that gorilla's head feels as soft as it looks?

Are you going to get close enough to find out? :rolleyes1

I love those 'rillas. The expressions on their faces are just priceless. I am afraid I'm one of those who perhaps haven't given AK it's due and will try to rectify that... but cannot stomach birds... or snakes... or bats... or other things I have forgotten but reserve the right to mention.

I think all of those are so cool! I never have understood the fear of birds, but it seems like many people have it.

I always do wonder what the gorillas are saying in their minds as they watch us watching them.

I love this picture! Very pretty. I don't recall the hippos being in the same pool with the cichlids, but it sure looks like one in the background. Or is it a rock? Either way it's a great picture. They are beautiful fish. And the baby gorilla is the cutest thing ever!

I totally agree with you... for us AK is in no way a 1/2 day park. There are too many little treasures and jewels tucked away to rush through that fast.

Not a rock - definitely a hippo. :thumbsup2

There is so much detail at Animal Kingdom. If you are an AK fan, run over to Pat's report and look at the Jammin' Jungle Parade pictures. :dance3:

I found them and bookmarked them so I can show her. I'm going to write it down, too, and put it in the same envelope as our friend's money and one remaining earring. I am so excited to get pictures from her!

So cool that you guys got to see the baby gorilla!

We have gotten to see her twice now. She is a cutie.
We need a baby gorilla smiley. :)

I think your sis is already there now. :goodvibes

It looks like she is doing well and progressing along.

It also looks like Momma is letting her wander further away too unless she is hiding behind that rock.

We only saw her for a minute or two as she peeked over the rock. I'm thinking she's probably the luckiest little gorilla in America being born where she was. If you see any future article on her progress, be sure to let me know.

I thought the kids' drawings were really very good!!
I remember seeing that baby gorilla too - so cute! We spent a good 15 minutes staring at her and the momma and talking to the CM there. Very interesting!

Yep. The CM's there are usually good at engaging interested onlookers in conversation.

The kids' drawings were amazing!
And the territory/feeding grounds sketch was fascinating, & so detailed. Just glad it's not super-detailed on some of the stinkier parts.
Love the photos of the baby gorilla and the hippo, both peeking out at us.

I bet I can draw a hippo, too. A stick hippo.

I thought the drawing was interesting as it showed the males on the outsides of the line protecting the females.

I will have to remember that tidbit about the hippos at night the next time I am on the Jungle Cruise.

Okay, I love the mental image of the animals all arriving at AK and clocking in.

Darling little Lily!

Chelsea was entertaining us with little-known facts she had read last night when we took a walk around the neighborhood. Here are a couple for you that seem appropriate with the AK pictures: giraffes can clean their own ears because their tongues are 21 inches long, and they have no vocal cords.

There is some kind of vocal box, though, as they can make bleating noises, I have read. Good for Chelsea and her giraffe knowledge. Does she know thye have the same number of neckbones as humans -7- and that they have one of the shortest sleeping habits of any animal - less than five hours a day?

I think I may be part giraffe. :goodvibes

Love the gorilla pics. I love watching them (watching us) On our last trip one of them was so funny. He/she kept moving spots & then looking at us to see if we were watching. Then they went behind a bush & peeked out.
Baby Lilly is so cute.

Peek-a-boo with a Disney gorilla would be awesome! I wanna play!

Can't wait to see that baby gorilla again!! Last May she was still hanging on to mama and I only caught a glimpse of her, so excited at the chance to see her more clearly

She was foraging around on her own the first time, but still close to Momma. It will be so fun to watch her grow.

I know the update was from yesterday but I didn't see it then...so thank you for starting my day off today with some AK fun!

Happy to oblige. A dose of Disney starts every day off on a nice note. :wizard:

Love the pictures of the gorillas.

Interesting we are chatting about giraffes and their vocal noises. I was discussing with the boyfriend last night about the sound a giraffe makes and i told him I knew it was true because I learned it from FOTLK and now I have a post on the DIS to back it up.:rotfl: It obviously shows he needs another visit to AK.

I'm sorry for your loss. I suffered a similar loss recently, also.

It was such a pretty number, while it lasted.

I love the baby gorilla. He is so darn cute. When we were there he was chasing a bunny rabbit. He would also stand on a little log, fall off, land on his head, and roll down the hill. It was quite comical.

Watching the gorillas is a lot of fun. :goodvibes

Lucky her for being down there right now! :cool1:

The baby gorilla is just tooo cute! Too funny about the animals clocking in!

We have seen the elephants 'clocking out' before. On the last safari of the day, they were all walking over a bridge back to their holding area. It was neat to see.

The squeals that just emitted from my desk have caused several people in my office to come check on me! SO CUTE!!!

A gorilla at Zoo Atlanta is expecting a baby in late April or early May, so as soon as they have him/her out and about, I wanna go see it!

That might be a good August or September activity for us.

I loved seeing the hippos walk through the water on our safari ride. They're really interesting creatures. Loved the story with the hippo and the hare.

They're huge, too. I'm always glad when we luck up on one that is moving around out on the bank.

I wish I had that good of drawing skills! The best thing I can draw is a stick figure

Share pictures with us when you go. Baby animals are so cute.

all caught up again.

great updates and pics as usual.

Love the AKL print.

Glad you could check in, Scott. I see you more on FB than here, so I don't even realize that you aren't around here much any more.

Awwww such a cute baby gorilla! Makes me wanna' take it home until I see how big the adults are and I change my mind...real fast!

I want a baby tiger.
For about six months. :)

Oh. My. Gosh! You got some cute pics of the baby gorilla! I could sit there all day and watch them.

And uh..guess I won't be going near any hippos at night!

Yes, I have cancelled all of my night time hippo hunts.

They can play a lot of things at age 4 now, so it will be no time before he's out there running around.

Parents sometimes get a little wild. If he ever plays AAU basketball, be prepared.

Oh My Goodness! Lilly is so adorable. I can't wait to see her in 48 days.

I need to count our days. It's more than 48, but I think we're in the 70's, which is not horrible when you convert it into weeks. :thumbsup2

Just stopping in to quickly comment on your baby gorilla pic! You are sooo lucky to see her again!!!
I hope we get to on our next trip.

Heading out to baseball.
Under a tornado watch. Bah!

Be careful!

I hope you see Lilly, too. It's neat to see something you know is going to be so big when it is still so small.

Love the pictures of the gorillas.

I was discussing with the boyfriend last night about the sound a giraffe makes and i told him I knew it was true because I learned it from FOTLK and now I have a post on the DIS to back it up.:rotfl: It obviously shows he needs another visit to AK.

I read all kinds of things about animals with my students. It is fascinating to me. Some of it I retain, but most I forget until I read it again with the next group that comes in.

I wouldn't deny you another trip to Animal Kingdom, though, so maybe you should work on him about that one. ::yes::

Oh my Goodness!! The baby gorilla has gotten sooo big! She was just a tiny little newborn on my last trip! I love gorillas! I too could just sit and watch them all day. They're just so human really, but look so different which is what I think fascinates me. Way to go on the $3 frame!

Hope you all have a lovely friday and weekend! I'm off to Indiana to see some little gorillas myself - my neice and nephews! ;) :)

Will the pictures be on your Facebook, or did I already ask you that?
Lucky her for being down there right now! :cool1:

I'm probably going to end up putting them on Photobucket, and then posting them here. And I am actually a little less envious of her being there, because my mom texted her to ask her the name of the hotel, and Kailyn texted back saying that her friend called it the "creepy clown hotel" because there were clowns on the walls. :scared1: I don't know if she meant in the lobby or in the actual rooms, but I am very afraid of clowns so I'm not sure I'd sleep well the entire time.
