All is quiet in the Jacques household.....Mat and Sarah tucked into their beds after a late flight.....Lionel hitting the snooze while the dog lays all over his feet, thinking that being cute and cuddly will keep us from leaving.....and me, sitting all alone at the computer drinking a cup of tea.
It wasn't the best morning.
First, I couldn't sleep. I know, that is shocking. I'm sure everyone here was expecting Erica to be well rested, having slept from 10 pm until 7 am without a single toss or turn, right? Yeah, I woke up at 6 with a splitting headache. And then at 6:20, my foot turned and my tendon rolled and now my foot hurts.
Before you panic, I will give you a quick little story: this has happened before. Let me take you back almost four years, about four miles up the road from where I sit and type today. We were getting married in two weeks, and several nasty hurricaines had just passed through Central Florida. As a result, the apartment we were staying in went from a wood view to a lake view overnight, which wasn't too bad. But the sidewalk down by the lake went from path to a platform, as the earth had been washed away.
What did I do? I slipped off of the sidewalk and sprained my ankle. Two weeks before my wedding. Yes, I managed to hurt myself by
walking down the sidewalk. Anyhow, all was well and I recovered in time to walk down the aisle (in sneakers, but still), but every now and then I get a little crick in the foot and I'm sore for an hour or two before it works itself out.
I am officially into my second hour of sore foot, and my head hurts.
You know what would make this all better? Some Alleve, and a sailaway drink. Or three.
This is going to be an awesome week! See you when I get back. Tink, keep the place tidy for me
