Gearing up for our first stay with DVC and have questions!

We're so excited about our upcoming trip. There will be 9 of us staying in a two bedroom unit at AKV's!!!

Being as this is our first stay I need to know what I need to bring with us for the room. We're driving so packing and bring stuff with us is no problem. Is there a list of stuff posted somewhere that I can use?

I've already started my list but it's small, so don't laugh at me

Laundry soap
Lysol wipes
shampoo and condition
body wash
dish soap
My Tassimo along with starbucks coffee and white chocolate sauce ( I need my iced white chocolate mocha!)

Ok thats all I can think of right now. Anyone want to help me out.

No need to bring the dish soap. You will have plenty, and if you run out, you just have to call housekeeping and they will bring more.

If you are cooking, be sure to bring a pancake turner/spatula thing. The only thing at AKV villas that is remotely like a turner is actually a strainer, and it does NOT work as a spatula.

Just yourself and a tooth brush. Plenty of markets for any food you want and all the place comes complete with everything else.

Wireless router if you have a number of Wifi devices

Don't forget dryer sheets. Binoculars might come in handy for viewing the animals, if you have a savanna view. Zip-locks and foil, if you are doing alot of cooking in the room. Boom box or portable speakers for music.

We usually have vinegar on hand to run though the Jacuzzi bath tub before we use it. There is a lot places in the lines where bacteria likes to call home. I have read that others on the board’s pre run the Jacuzzi with bleach as well.

Large Zip locks bags are great to take in the parks with you to keep your valuables dry, Cameras etc. during water rides and Rainey afternoons.

Don't laugh...I actually went to Home Depot last year and picked up something specifically for cleaning Jacuzzi's. Never used it!! The stuff they provide for the dishwasher had enough bleach in it. Now I don't own a dishwasher so I don't know if bleach is a common ingredient, but it worked. You could actually smell the bleach as it ran through.

agreed with the spatula!! Also, there is no flat skillet so if you want to make pancakes then you make them one in a time in a rounded skillet. i always bring PAM/cooking spray and instead of laundry soap i go with the Purex laundry sheet that acts as both the laundry soap and the dryer sheet.

How long of a stay? We treated another family to join us over Xmas at a GV in Kidani for 3 nights and then 4 nights at a THV. They brought along their Wii and a few nights we (mostly the teens) enjoyed that after being wiped out at the parks.

I am in awe that you are bringing your Tassimo. We love ours...

I hope you are driving. If we flew cross country with our Tassimo we would look crazy!

I guess Apple needs to come out with the iTassimo portable coffee maker with 5gb of storage for music.

This is a must!!!! I started bringing it for my DVC trips now I bring it on work trips and other trips I go on.

Agreed Oh yea and patients, with little to no expectations depending on who you are bringing with you!

The televisions at AKV are all digital. If you have cameras, computers, etc, be sure to bring your patch cables with you. It's nice to look through the pictures from the day with the group.

Already mentioned, but want to reinforce the suggestion for a wireless router. With that many people in the room, there will certainly be a high demand for internet access. The router lets you all connect at the same time, and even gives you access for WiFi-enabled phones and other devices. Set it up and test it at home. Disney IT won't help you with routers if you have a problem.

Also the connection for the internet is in the master bedroom, only in the master bedroom! Not a good set up at all!

We always travel in big groups, the 2 bedroom villas are well suited for this and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time! We drive in as well, it makes it so much easier to bring things from home rather than purchasing large quantity of items and having to throw them out or or leave them behind! When I do the family reunions for the 11 of us, I bring my crock pot from home. Meatballs/sauce for spaghetti & subs, Mexican stewed beef for tacos /burritos, a few simple ingredients can go a long way to feed a crowd and it's nice to return to the villa and have food ready.

We've done the Disney thing for so many years now and though we still enjoy the parks, we enjoy spending time together hanging around the resort just as much.
