We want to take a 4 day second vacation in July. DD wants to take a friend so we are considering a cabin with a bedroom, if they are reasonable. I don't know where to start the search. We will do Dollywood for a day and want to walk around Gatlinburg for sure. We stayed last year at our favorite hotel near downtown only to find it changed owners and the new owners did not believe in spending $ dirty room and terrible "free" breakfast, not even instant coffee! The front desk apologized but explained the new owners cut back on everything. We left after one night and stayed at a Holiday Inn in PF. Any suggestions?

We always rent our cabins through colonial cabin rentals, www.SmokyMtnDreams.com, they are great. Also just stayed at the Econo Lodge riverside in pigeon forge, it was wonderful and clean. The Quality Inn on Dollywood lane is was on my favs too. Happy planning!

We just got home last week...ready to go back again. This is the company we always use. Love them. We got a free upgrade to a much nicer cabin (Elkhorn Lodge...it was GORGEOUS!) when the one we booked was removed from their roster. We had a blast.

We always stay at Riverstone Resort in PF. It is right on Dollywood Lane so it is easy to get back and forth from the park. It is a condo, but it is beautiful inside and out with views of the golf course and mountains. They have a great indoor pool and a lazy river. My family is considering buying one in the near future we like it so much.

We plan on going back to Gatlinburg either this summer or next summer. They have Dollywood, the water park, Dixie Stampede, walking the main drag in Gatlinburg downtown, you can go up the mountain even in summer.

We went through Mountain Laurel Chalets and I didn't have a single complaint. It was inexpensive too!

We love the aquarium. It is so well done and kept up really well. They have a new penguin exhibit and when we were there last month, they had the penguins parading all around the place....WAY COOL.

We've gone two times for vacation there & each time stayed at a cabin from Uncle Bud's. They were really nice & we liked staying there. Has been about 5 years since we went there but were really pleased & I thought their prices pretty good too.We stayed at Natures Playhouse the first time & Bearadise the second time. And the location was awesome...the driveway abit spooky though.

Don't mean to hijack, but was thinking of going in Oct. How is the weather? Is Dollywood crowded? We went back in 2006 in the summer, I did no research and DW was packed. TIA

It is much nicer in October then during the summer. The only thing you have to worry about are reduced hours at Dollywood. So make sure you look that up before you make final plans. The weather is beautiful around here in October. We are actually looking to do a long weekend sometime in October as a small vacation (we only live about a hour and 15 minutes away or so).

We've been in late September and it was beautiful, they started decorating for fall. We also gone in November and had nice weather (I guess that depends on what you are used to). The summer gets much more crowded it seems. All of the times we went in the summer it was lots of traffic and crowded. Last year we went in August and while it took a while to drive thru PF, it wasn't bad.

The Christmas Place is AWESOME, but expensive. Since it's a second vacation and we need a bedroom, that won't work. I do want to stay there at Christmas one year. When they first opened there a was year wait for Christmas.

That is where we are thinking about staying over my Fall break. I priced it out and cost seemed in line with what they offered. Plus, it looks amazing. I think we might try for a 2 Queen Bed Room with Balcony with a Courtyard View.

Try patriotgetaways.com. I have rented from them twice in the past and have found the rates good and the cabins very nice. They also do some discounts.

I've never been, but they have that Titanic museum thing around there somewhere. It sounds pretty amazing.

Are these in a resort type setting or are they more secluded? This thread got me thinking this is a great 25th anniversary for my DH and I in 2014! Watching this thread! popcorn::
