Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge Suggestions?

We went last fall and rented a cabin through www.vrbo.com. It was called God's Gift. I'll see if I can find the link because it was a really great cabin with beautiful views.

Are any of the cabins a walk to downtown? I really hate to drive and park!

Anyone have any suggestions for food? I think mom and I have settled that we will be going the Friday-Tuesday of my Fall Break and staying at the Inn at Christmas Place. We want to do breakfast at the Apple Barn (most likely Monday) and will do Lunch at Chop House when we go to the outlet Tuesday before we head home (that is tradition lol). As of now, we don't have any other "plans" so any suggestions are welcome. Since we live so close, we only do short day trips so we don't have to worry to much about multiple restaurants and what not.

Anyone try The Partridge and the Pear?

Apple Barn was always our favorite, but last year we tried Old Mill and ate there twice, it was great! Of course, there is the Pancake Pantry for pancakes.

Pancake Pantry and Old Mill is about the only places we will eat. We do eat at Alamo in off times but I can't imagine how crazy it is during busy times. We have eaten at the Mexican place very close to the Ripley's aquaruim once and was surprised at how good it was. We find most of the restaurants in GB and PF to be crowded and blah. The Donut Friar in Gatlinburg downtown is YUM YUM, if you go before 9 am, you can park on street for free and run in to pick up . I usually go about 7 am before family up and bring back to cabin.

Oh wow! Thank you all so far on your suggestions! I appreciate all of your help!

Where is the Pancake Pantry? I can't recall since there are so many pancake places down there!

Chop House and Applewood Farmhouse are already on the list (I LOVE the crab cake at the Chop House). I hadn't thought of the Old Mill even though I have seen it mentioned before as a "must do" so I will look into that. It's good to hear you like Partridge and Pear as they do room service for the Inn and are right across the street!

Pancake Pantry is in downtown Gatlinburg. It's awesome. The sweet potato pancakes with cinnamon maple syrup are just YUM - The line can be crazy long though!

We are normally there the week before Memorial day , so it is a quiet time, but we try to hit before 9 am or after 11 and that seems to miss the crazy lines. It might not work during the busy summer .

Okay, I think I know where you are talking about! I have walked past it on past trips. I have always wanted to try it! We usually go into Gatlinburg for a day trip so may have to time it so we can go for "lunch".

It's right near the entrance to "The Village" ;)

So, I was talking to my mom and she has requested the time off! So we are officially going to Gatlinburg this fall for my break. If I can miss class on Thursday then we will go Thursday-Tuesday... if not, then Friday-Tuesday. We will stay at the Inn at Christmas Place! I am excited!

Since cabins sometimes aren't close to town, I like condos.

We're staying at http://www.governorscrossing.net in July. This property is condos in Sevierville close to the 5 Oaks outlet with a waterpark for kids.

I've looked at Baskins Creek condos in Gatlinburg that seemed nice & were about 1/2 mile up the side road from the Village shops.

My supervisor says she likes Whispering Pines condos in Pigeon Forge. They're located sort of across & down from the Old Mill up across the parkway up on the hill on a back street.

We also like the cottages at Hidden Mountain Resorts in Pigeon Forge. They are located in a residential area past the Apple Barn.

HTH!!!

ETA- Johnsons Inn, very close to the side entrance of the Village, has condos that are supposed to be better kept than the hotel but I haven't stayed there and can't give you an opinion.

Good luck!
