Gastric Bypass Does Disney or My Mom's quest for "Energy drinks"

Was so glad to come home to find more review!!! Waiting ever so patiently for your take on Grand Floridian meal :surfweb:

After dinner DD and I headed over to Magic Kingdom to enjoy some EMH until 2 am. After trekking back and forth across the park and virtually walking on any ride we chose, DD decided she needed something to munch on. We grabbed a stuffed pretzel and a bottled water from the lunching pad around 1230am. The pretzel was fresh, hot and good enough that DD didn’t even bother to ask for ketchup. She loved the sweet cream cheese filling and proclaimed it to be “The Best (albeit the only) Stuffed Pretzel she had ever eaten”.

We originally had ADRs at 830 am for 1900 Park Fare for our last morning In WDW, but after realizing we would be at MK until almost 230am, I decided to cancel that ADR. On a whim I booked Grand Floridian Café since Mom had said she wanted to see what the resort looked liked. Man did I make a great choice. We arrived about 10 minutes early for breakfast and were seated right away. It was nice to see the wait staff in suits and ties. It added to the ambience of the place. Robert was our server and led us to a table that was right by the windows overlooking the pool area. What a great view to enjoy while eating. DD wasn’t very hungry so she just ordered a side of bacon and a strawberry smoothie. Mom decided on the Café Breakfast Skillet and I splurge and decided to try the Lobster eggs benedict. Our drinks arrived very quickly and were nicely presented. Moms coffee came in a thermal carafe, My hot tea arrived in a china pot with several choices of decaf tea, and DD’s smoothie looked like something from a Tiki Bar with fruit hanging over the edges. Since Robert thought our meal was taking longer than usually to arrive, he brought out a plate of fresh chilled fruit for us to nosh on. It was the coldest fruit I had ever tasted, pineapple, grapes, strawberries, honeydew, and grapes chilled to the point that it would have given a penguin brain freeze. It was absolutely delicious. Shortly after the ladies finished off the fruit plate, our meal arrived. DD’s bacon was still sizzling and very crisp, just the way she loves it. Mom’s skillet was a cassoulet filled to the brim with Southern biscuits, sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, tomatoes, onions and peppers all smothered under 2 layers of bubbling cheeses, then topped with 2 pieces of crisp bacon. I didn’t think there was anyway she could finish all of it but boy was I wrong. Mom normally shies away from any kind of eggs but she loved this dish, saying it had the perfect balance of everything, especially the sweet taste of onions and smoky taste of the peppers. I amnot a fan of poached eggs but when my Lobster Benedict arrived I was most pleasantly surprised, The eggs had been poached a little longer than normal so they had the consistency of over easy eggs instead of the normal runny whites I associate with poached eggs. The were served over 2 rounds of Brioche toast then topped with the best citrus flavored hollandaise I had ever put in my mouth. On the side of the plate were 6 perfectly cooked pencil spears of asparagus resting on top of even more hollandaise sauce. Across the top of the plate was the equivalent of a whole lobster tail cut into chunks with more hollandaise drizzled over the top. It was a beautiful presentation matched only by the taste of the dish. The lobster was cooked perfect, not too chewy but still sweet and flavorful. The citrus hollandaise and asparagus cut through the richness of the lobster and brioche perfectly. When Robert saw that I had only eaten 2 bites of my meal, he came over to check and make sure every thing was alright. I explained that I couldn’t eat much because of my surgery and he was relieved. He explained that the lobster was his favorite dish and just wanted to make sure every one that tried it was satisfied. After DD and mom finished off my plate , we were treated to more coffee and a bit of chat with table beside us ( they were celebrating their 50th anniversary and had plans to attend V&A that night) He and Robert were admiring the chopsticks I had brought to try out and I was admiring his Lobster Benedict before I ordered my own. I simply cant give enough praise to the Grand Floridian Café and our waiter Robert. The food was fantastic, the service was impeccable and the whole dining experience was on par with some of the best restaurants I have eaten in without all of the stuffiness. Whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner, I will definitely be coming back to eat here and would urge everyone to give it a try. It is well worth the trip to the Grand Floridian to eat at the café. If you get Robert as a waiter, be sure to tell him the guy with the chopsticks recommended the café to you.

When I had lunch at Earl of Sandwich, I also had the Scudetto and thought it was fab and was very impressed that they used actual Italian cold cuts and not just ham & salami or some other boring combo.

Great reviews!
