Wanted to share my not great experience with MS regarding renting points

I now realize I am aware of the word hubris I was just reading it to sound totally different.

Since the amount we pay DVC to manage is fixed, they can’t up our dues.

Which is exactly why they would never go back to making rules that require more calls to MS.

Just from everything I’ve discovered. I’ll go out on a limb here and say less is more when you call and I have a feeling that is what DVC wants too.

Call in, book, modify, change names, etc and if asked, just say yes, this reservation falls under personal use rules.

Until they actually make it an offical rule that renting to someone other than family and friends, one is being honest.

Here's my take - on the wheel of emphases, the puck has now landed on commercial renting. In some ways this is good IMO. Commercial renting--with bots skimming high value reservations--had gotten out of hand. But there's now going to be a signficant over-correction to eliminate or reduce a decade or so of various abuses and then things will swing back to middle ground. I'd give this process about 12-18 months. But right now, there's going to be a shake down on every single request until the overall tone on renting changes. For example, for the past year, the sponsor on most of the Disney pods I listen to as been the DVC Store for low cost rentals. And when commercial businesses create ads to sell among. other things confirmed reservations, that, I'm pretty sure, is a problem.

I posted this elsewhere, but just in case others haven’t seen it, owners are allowed to rent to anyone…it’s not limited to family and friends which MS sometimes implies.

Beyond that, we wait to see if they actually do more than what they have done so far.
