I can't tell from these posts, but I sincerely hope you are kidding.

What do you think?

I was just responding with as much of a ridiculous statement as theirs.

What I want to know is, if supply and demand are really what's driving the prices, then why is gas cheaper in Orlando than where I live? Every time we go to WDW/Orlando, the gas prices are always lower there, the last time was about 3 weeks ago. I saw mid-grade for $2.19 (that was the average price), yet we paid $2.49 at home before we left. :confused3 :confused3 I think they purposely maintain lower prices in Orlando to lure the tourists, probably an uneducated guess on my part, but I honestly can't think of any other logical reason behind their lower gas prices. :confused3 :confused3

I think that it may be a difference in the percentage of tax levied by the county. The county that I live in has a higher gas tax than say Hillsborough and there is a considerable difference in price (except for those b***** stations that gouge). We also notice that gas is cheaper in Orlando than where we live, maybe their taxes are lower. I haven't actually checked into this though.

As for those people bashing SUV drivers (I agree there are some idiot drivers out there but they are not all behind the wheel of an SUV, my husband and I were nearly killed or seriously injured by some idiot in a minivan that blew through a redlight at 70mph) Also the last time I checked this was a Democracy and we have the freedom to choose.... I love sports cars, they don't get great gas mileage either, but when I finish college I intend to buy one. I don't hear anyone criticizing the supposed bleeding heart celebrities who own more than one enormous home and take full advantage of polluting, gas guzzling private jets.

The link below shows how Gas taxes vary by state. Keep in mind these are the State taxes and you still have to add the 18.4 cents per gallon of Federal taxes. For all my Florida friends, read the notes on the Florida Rates, your local taxes can vary anywhere between 52.9 and 45 cents per gallon.

I posted that earlier but apparently it got overlooked. Thanks.

Gas hit $3.05/gal here last night (Chicago suburbs). My DH just ordered a Ford Escape hybrid (31 highway/36 city) so I can drive his stick shift Passat and we can put our big full-size-Chevy-van-beast-gas-sucker in hibernation (to be taken out when we need to pull our pop-up camper somewhere). I'm starting to feel embarrassed when I'm alone in my big van. The gas prices can only get worse...

Well gas here is 3.95 and up a gallon when you convert it from what we pay per litre so it isn't far off what we pay and we just bought a new Chevy Avalanche and couldn't be happier with our purchase.

Good For You!!! :)

Cars are money pits we have to understand this and no matter how much gas costs it is something we need to fill the tanks of them with. You will never get anything out of your car/truck etc unless you buy one that you know has a history of gaining in value like some exotics or some vintage vehicles. Otherwise a car is the worst thing you could ever spend money on so why not just get one you like and are happy with and leave it at that no matter what gas costs and insurance costs etc. Get what you like and can afford and be done with it it is only a darn car after all.

The lowest price around here that I could find today is $2.55. :earseek: I'm so glad that I have some places that I can just ride a bike to get to. :)
