Gap, Old Navy censor 'Christmas,'

Boy, I guess you want to argue with me. We disagree, its obvious and I was just trying to let it go, you know, agree to disagree. :confused3

I never said that St. Nick and Epiphany weren't celebrated by some Christians, I said they were quite minor in America compared to Christmas.
You disagree. So what?

I must respectfully disagree - especially about St. Nick's day. Growing up Catholic and attending Catholic School I can tell you that St. Nick's Day is a very big deal. On that particular feast day we would go to church, and learn all about the Saint who is St. Nick. By the way we also did this for St. Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, etc... learning about the Saints and there different feast day was the center of my Catholic education.

The Epiphany is also a fairly big deal. While these celebrations are not on a the huge marketing level that is Christmas - they are a large portion of the Catholic Community. In fact just the other day several co-workers and I were talking about St. Nick's day.

Just FYI the Assumption of Mary is also a big feast day for Catholics that not many Non-Catholics no about.

We celebrate Epiphay here! Matter of fact, DH got his first ever gifts from me on Epiphany. He was bah humbugging Christmas the first year I met him due to the materialism so I gave him his gifts on the day we celebrate the men from the East arriving at Christ's birthsite with traditional gifts. I could only find Frankincense that year so he got a candle and some scented massage oils as well. In our household, the nativity scenes and the tree stay up til January 6th and the wise men travel around the house on their way to the manger. I'm Episcopalian and hang out with a bunch of Catholics who also observe Epiphany.

Did you miss all the storms while you were enjoying the Florida sun or did you get home in time for the wind storm, which I heard was worse then the one in 92 (the one Pat Roberston said was God's punishment for Bill Clinton winning)?

We arrived to an airposrt that only had 50% of it's power. Pretty rough way to come home.

While we were away our house lost power for one night. We were lucky. Many people have been without power since the 14th and they have been told not to expect it back until after Christmas.

Oh is that why we are being asked to email employers that required Happy Holidays. Uh huh. Keep those whoppers coming. By the way, you have yet to provide an example of any leftie organization that gives a rat's hindquarters whether Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays is used.

Business can require an employee say "Go pee up a rope" if they want to. It's no different than a rule to keep properly groomed or wear a tie.

I'd wager that's still well before you were born. Yet it's supposed to be some big recent left wing conspiracy.

It's employment as a mandated substitute for "Merry Christmas" is much more recent, really in the last 5 years or so, driven by the secular arm of the left.
Yeah. Because we all know those that set corporate policy at places like Walmart are total left wingers. :lmao:

The only idea of a war on Christmas I have ever personally seen is here on the DIS, and I think in real life it's pretty much a non-issue, but I have to argue with this statement. If an employer does indeed not allow you to mention Christmas, that can be construed as prohibiting you from freely practicing your religion, whereas, unless there is some religion that worships the Anti-Urinating God that I am unaware of, making you say "Go pee up a rope" cannot be.

I think it should be pointed out that I think people are only discussing people that would be representing the company, not just two people talking at the water cooler.

Gvien that, I think that would be quite a stretch. I believe businesses do, and should, have the right to determine how people communicate as a representative of that company.
