Gap, Old Navy censor 'Christmas,'

What's to disagree about? I stated facts. So you don't celebrate Three Kings Day or St. Nicholas' day. So what? Other Christians do.

Boy, I guess you want to argue with me. We disagree, its obvious and I was just trying to let it go, you know, agree to disagree. :confused3

I never said that St. Nick and Epiphany weren't celebrated by some Christians, I said they were quite minor in America compared to Christmas.
You disagree. So what?

agree! I think most people have used it this way

I now I have stated this before... - I have always used "Happy Holidays" this way before I heard about this war on Xmas crap...and the supposed PC stuff....I have always signed my cards and said "Happy Holidays" - simply to mean all holidays at this time and even more so "happy New Year too".

...and the fact that people drop Happy Holidays for Happy New Year - that is sad for all the people who celebrate the Epiphany, etc.....

I can remember my parents buying different cards--some with Merry Christmas, some with Happy Holidays--back in the 1960's.

Oh, I see your problem. I guess you read something I never stated. For example I said to some, Three Kings Day is a big celebration, like in Puerto Rico and among the Mexican American Catholics. I never said it was a major US Catholic holiday, celebrated by all. Maybe re-reading my posts will clear that up for you.

You're just being nasty now and not worth my time.

Sorry, but I'm really not trying to be difficult. You definitely need to show me where I said "all Catholics celebrate St. Nick's and Three Kings Day", though, because I really didn't mean to imply that. You made that inference.

It's just that you're not the only Catholic (present or former) on these boards, and your posts imply that your Catholic American experience is the definitive and "normal" one, which it isn't. It varies among families, I guess. I've stated that.

Blah Blah Blah...
Just another way for the religious "right" to ignore what's really wrong in the world by whining about something trivial...typical

Others have made the comment that according to Christian beliefs, the "Reason for the Season" isn't really supposed to be commercial anyway, so why are we boo-hooing over a RETAILER who doesn't want to cater specifically to Christians? You're basically BEGGING them to further commercialize Christmas! (A bit hypocitical, if you ask me!)

Aside from all that, Jesus is not the ONLY reason for the season. So rather than cater to one specific interest group, they've chosen to INCLUDE EVERYONE in their advertising. Oh HEAVEN FORBID anyone should include all people!!

Groups like American Family Association and Focus on the Family need to wake up and realize that there are far bigger issues in this world than boycotting a company that chooses to include all of God's people in their advertising...
There are children starving in our country for goodness sake! Families without a roof over their heads at Christmas! But they're asking you to boycott a retail conglomerate because they refuse to commercialize Christmas...
BRAVO! How very Christ-like of them!

I know! I've stated before that if I were still Christian, I'd be glad if I thought Christmas was being removed from the materialism.

Really, I haven't polled all my Christian friends and family, but I haven't heard any of them gripe about "Happy Holidays" in any stores. Just, "wow, why are they putting up the trees before Halloween's over"?

Yes it is, my grandmother always brings my kids presents in early Jan. She says it is their "Santos Reyes" presents. And I have cousins in Mexico that I have heard refer to it.

My father has said that when he was a kid he did not get XMAS presents but he did get his "Santos Reyes" presents, story goes that every year the three kings return to Mexico with gifts for all the children.

We still drive into EAST LA to buy mexican bread from Panaderias, they all promote these wreaths made out of bread for "santos reyes". I mean it is like lines for the PS3 or Wii, you either preorder weeks in advance or you have to stand in line for hours.

Exactly! I grew up among German Catholics, so Oktoberfest was bigger than everything else. Give thanks to God for BEER! :)

While you are paying for cardaway to do could you also pay for DH and I too?;)

Don't get too excited, they couldn't pay me enough to go there in the next two weeks. The crowds were bad enough when we were there.

Did you miss all the storms while you were enjoying the Florida sun or did you get home in time for the wind storm, which I heard was worse then the one in 92 (the one Pat Roberston said was God's punishment for Bill Clinton winning)?
